  • you'd think it would be simple, eh?

thanks for the reminder, ceg. the picks! i found only a couple of matches are giving me a hard time this time. i want to pick rich, but my gut is telling me lutter for some reason, and i think i'm letting my dislike of alan belcher influence my pick for jason day. maia by submission is a lock! :D he's probably one of the guys i'm most anxious to meet...or hoping to meet.

probably should be picking more than one decision too...still time for ch-ch-ch-changes...:D

  • seems it was herpes? not staph infection. paul was the wrestler who didn't impress in his decision win, if i remember correctly.

    ONLY 1 MORE SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i've done my picks but i think i may change some of them. I agree with you mookie, i just have a feeling that lutter is going to sub rich.

so i thought i'd post a picture of my ugly face so you guys know who to look for if you notice me at the pre-party or at the weigh ins...
bah, ok it says that i can't post attachments, so umm just look for the short guy with long hair and tattoos all up my left arm lol...
    shouldn't be too hard lol

hey guys, just got back to the hotel for a bit from shopping... I LOVE MONTREAL...

we didnt' make it to the weight-ins or the xtreme couture party cause well we got kinda side tracked lol.
Just wanted to say, hope you are all enjoying yourselves and enjoy the fights tonite!

edit: o ya, just thought i'd add that i ran into Bisping on St. Catherine and Peel, he stopped to shake hands (would not use his right hand) and take pictures... Even though i'm not a fan, i have to say, he was a really nice/cool guy... He was just out walking around with him and his girlfriend/wife which was really cool aswell.
HAPPY 420 after we get out tonite!

Bisping seems like he would be a cool guy to chat with and have a beer!!
  • Kalib Starnes should never be heard from again after that fight. What a joke!! He ran away the whole fight and wanted no part of Quarry.
  • Demian Maia subs Ed Hermann, I would have loved to see that one. What a night of fights so far.

agreed. Kalib is an f'n joke. I'm not a fan of anyone showboating in the ring, but I had no problem with Quarry venting his frustrations there at the end of the bout.

GSP dominated Serra. At first glance, it appeared that the fight was stopped maybe a tad prematurely, but after looking at the replays, it was the right call.

How about Mark Bocek's face? That guy took a pretty nasty beating.

GSP messed up and regained the belt with dominance. i cant see him losing that belt for a very long time now.

who is there to beat him? hes in his prime and wont slack off like he did with serra (last year) and not take a guy seriously again.

OMG I TOTALLY agree!!! What a coward that man is!! That match was pure SHIT! I had a good laugh at Nate Quarry's humour at the end tho. Especially the Rocky quote hahaha

  • Firstly I gotta saw how happy I am that Ritchie Franklin got a win last night. It was a great fight! I love how Ritchie never gave up and got out of a lot of sticky situations. I am a HUGE fan of his and I know he's been shit since his dad died. Having been through it myself (losing a father) I know how huge getting a win has been for him and I'm sooo happy it finally happened. I also love his humility and class on the mic after the match. A great competator and sportman right there.

I was REALLY impressed with GSP's perfomance last night. He was focussed and in amazing shape. Matt Serra finally saw the REAL GSP and couldn't handle him at all. It was a damn good fight. I have to admire Serra's class in how he handled his defeat though. GSP could learn something from him that way. I know GSP was classy the night he lost too but afterwards he shoulda kept his trap shut IMO. I know he learned something from the whole experience and I think this title reign will be a better, classier, LONGER reign.

BTW...what the hell is with the Jason Macdonald fight NOT being shown on the ppv?? He was shown in all the previews and I heard it was a really good fight.

I was glad GSP kicked Serra's ass. How can you deserve to win something with the sponsors he had..

Kalib Starnes should never be heard from again after that fight. What a joke!! He ran away the whole fight and wanted no part of Quarry.

Well i just got home from montreal and that was an incredible weekend.
Did you hear Kalib get boo'd out of the building lol, he was a f'ing joke last night and i loved Nate's interview after the fight!
Bisping would be a really cool guy to have a beer with, he finally said he had to go after about 20minutes of doing pictures and stuff, but then a guy came up in a wheelchair and asked for one and he was like, "ofcourse, anything for you", came across as an incredible man.
To ACCgoddess - I'm just rewatching the ppv right now so i didn't know they weren't showing the Joe/Jason match, but you are right, it was very good. Joe had a very very deep armbar in, and i thought forsure the fight was going to end, but jason fought out if and finished in the 2nd very strong (with elbows i believe, i was a little intoxicated though lol).
Actually every fight (except that SOB kalib starnes) was incredible. I'm not sure if they showed the Day/Belcher fight on the ppv, but that was damn impressive. The crowd went insane for Day.

Ok i'm going to finish watching the ppv, hope we came across as loud as it was in there. It was absolutly insane there, and afterwards all the GSP chants down St. Catherine and all downtown montreal was amazing. An absolutly amazing environment.
The funniest part of the night though was one girl walking down St. Catherine (obviously drunk) chanting GPS, i couldn't stop laughing.

edit: just checked the fantasy and i can't believe i came in 1st, i thought i didn't do too well, but the Franklin fight really helped me out with the bonus.
Very good picks by everyone, i bet we got a pretty good average on this one. sorry for beating you mookie, but i needed my title back lol

Sadly we didn't see the Day fight either. This is what made it to air:

Georges St-Pierre Vs. Matt Serra - WW Championship
    Rich Franklin Vs. Travis Lutter
    Kalib Starnes Vs. Nate Quarry
    Michael Bisping Vs. Charles McCarthy
    Mark Bocek Vs. Mac Danzig

I hope there were some people at the show who were taping cause neither UFC.com nor Youtube has the Macdonald or Day fights. I'm hoping in the next few days something turns up on youtube.

BTW next months ppv looks INCRECIBLE!! I'll let Mookie tell you all the card with his new thread. haha

well that sucks, the undercard was full of great fights...
Sorry I wasn't really taping, so ya hopefully we can find them somewhere, the Morris/cain fight was good aswell with some blood, and the Goulet fight was awsome.
Ya the next ppv looks awsome, i'm going with BJ, Wandy, and Machida for the big fights, some friends want me to go to vegas for it, but that would be way too expensive i think. I still want to though because of how awsome this one was, bah... decisions lol

  • GSP looked so dominant, I don't see how they could give Serra a rematch. Serra seemed totally defeated after the first round. The UFC has done some crazy things so if Serra wins a few and builds his record back up you never know.

that's awsome lol. and ya i don't think serra gets a rematch right away, i say he get hughes and gsp gets either fitch right away or the winner of fitch/alves if it happens...

they also showed the goulet fight on the ppv (i just finished it) and that was the first fight of the night and a damn good way to get the night started. :)

    good morning guys!!

wow... what a weekend!! Montreal is amazing... great friends, food, beer, patios, tunes, shopping, walking, talking, more beer, more patios, more walking, more talking, and lots and lots of laughs..... :)

the event on Saturday was amazing... but we also had a lot of fun on Friday afternoon! we met Dana White outside the Bell Centre and got a couple of photos. Dana was really kind and accessible. He was all smiles, and took the time to shake everyones hand and sign autographs.

Then we headed off to a pub for dinner, and happened upon a meet and greet with Matt Hammill and Jorge Gurgel inside the pub!!! got to chat with both of them and get photos. Both Matt and Jorge were incredibly friendly, and were excited to share stories about their training and fights. :D

after dinner, we started to wander around, and while browsing through HMV, we ran into Mac Danzig who was also kind enough to take some time for photos. We wished him luck in his fight, which obviously payed off... ;)

Then it was off to the Xtreme Couture party, where we got to see Gray Maynard, Randy Couture, and Dan Henderson up close, but didn't quite get an opportunity to shake hands (or for ReleasH to 'examine' Gray's broken hand), but it was still exciting to be there. Skipping the line and being usherd in to the VIP entrance was pretty funny too!!

ok, i'll let mookie and ReleasH fill in the rest....

i miss you both, just a 'little bit'.... xoxoxoxox
