Rampage gets a bad Decision loss , and now look what happens.
I love watching Rampage , hopefully he doesn't get made an example of.
it's all very perplexing. no drugs or alcohol involved. all reports are calling the initial incident a minor vehicle collision, and rampage gave no problems to police from the time he was arrrested until he was released.
as ceg said in another thread, why try to run from the police? maybe we'll hear more if the hearing is tomorrow.
got the picks in for saturday. i was going to go with irvin for the upset, but i am trying to redeem myself from the shame of my last performance. i will try not to bring down the league average again!

QUINTON JACKSON TAKEN IN FOR OBSERVATION
Thursday, July 17, 2008
by Ken Pishna - MMAWeekly.com
Just one day removed from being arrested by the Costa Mesa Police Department and charged with alleged felony evasion, hit-and-run, and reckless driving, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson found himself in the custody of another California jurisdiction.
Although Jackson was not arrested again, the Irvine Police Department did escort him to mental health professionals for observation due to reports of him being a possible threat to himself and others.
“We did go out to the residence where he was staying at 4:31 p.m. PT (on Wednesday in the city of Irvine, Calif.). We were asked to assist with him and make sure that he was safe and not a danger to himself or others,” said Lt. Rick Handfield of the Irvine Police Department. “He was exhibiting some unusual behavior that his friends that were there felt concerned.” Details of Jackson’s exact behavior were not forthcoming.
“At the conclusion of our contact, we did detain him and take him to be seen by mental health professionals,” continued Lt. Handfield. He was not released back to Irvine police. “We left him with the mental health professionals.”
At this point, due to privacy laws, there is not further information on the findings of the mental health professionals or what Jackson’s current condition is.
On Tuesday, Jackson was arrested by the Costa Mesa Police Department following a high-speed chase down Newport Boulevard that allegedly involved multiple collisions between the custom painted pick-up truck that Jackson was identified as driving and other vehicles. He was also reported to have crossed over the median into oncoming traffic and running red lights, causing pedestrians to flee out of the way before Jackson was taken into custody.
Jackson’s pick-up is detailed by a custom camouflage paint job with his likeness and sponsor logos emblazoned across the side.
He was released from Costa Mesa authorities on $25,000 bail overnight Tuesday night, leading up to Wednesday’s incident in Irvine.
Jackson defeated Chuck Liddell for the UFC light heavyweight title in May of 2007. He held that title for more than a year, until losing two weeks ago at UFC 86 in Las Vegas by unanimous decision to current champion Forrest Griffin.
No statement has been forthcoming from officials at the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
thanks for another great write-up mookie, you convinced me to change from a decision to a sub from tim
Also i agree with the hermes/frankie fight. I think if it ends before a decision hermes will probably win, but if it goes to a decsion, it'll be edgar's win. I think it's going to decision though, so frankie it is for me.

have fun and good luck, leafs! i hope my picks are not too bad! haha
good luck on the picks for fantasy league as well...another one that will probably come down to rounds and methods..."that's where i'm a viking!" (little simpsons joke for ceg )...
i'm going to watch the hour of affliction on the fight network and then tune in to fight night and watch the affliction PPV after that. long night of mma! should be tons of people where you'll be watching, and it looks like they are going to try to air the entire card now as a four hour PPV. the third fight of hominick vs. young was added to the fight network broadcast as well! great for the canadian fans who wanted to see mark's match.
they blew their wad on the 4$ million in fighters salaries alone and having to pay for another hour or PPV time will certainly not bode well for longevity. oh well, they put together some good fighters for a card or two. i'll try to just enjoy it while it lasts.

the countdown show was on for fight night last night, not sure if anyone caught it. it was quite good for the first half. a lot like the new more "documentary" style they've been using lately, but the second half had more of an advertisement feeling to it like the countdown shows used to be presented.
still, it was good to get a closer look at both silva (again ) and irvin. always nice to see a new profile.
i don't know why this didn't really occur to me before, but i started thinking how crazy will it be if both irvin and sylvia pull off the upsets in one night?!?!
one last thing, leafs...three fight "parlay", i believe it is called...sylvia, irvin and negao...i want 10%. also, the farm on pyle.
i might have a potential gambling problem if i went to one of these places in vegas, eh?
edit: all kidding aside, a sylvia, negao and pyle "parlay" would actually not be too far from realistic. yep, ok, i would definitely have a problem in vegas...
good luck on the picks for fantasy league as well...another one that will probably come down to rounds and methods..."that's where i'm a viking!" (little simpsons joke for ceg )...
i wish i was a viking right now! this working on a friday thing is not "working out" for me... i wanted to stay in bed!
are you taping the affliction show? (like i need to ask... )
i want to see Andrei's fight <---- insert fangs
~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~

well, not exactly taping the affliction show, but it will be "available" later on. i shall do my best to try to find a version of andrei's fight that you can play. sorry i have been bad with pre-lims for the last couple of shows. haven't been finding too many .wmv files for ya!
first, the affliction show just got a whole lot less interesting for me as aleksander emelianenko was unable to get medical clearance from the CSAC and his bout with paul buentello has been scrapped. :( edit: looks like gary goodridge happened to be in the audience and will now face buentello.
michael buffer was either drunk or just showed up with no preparation...:D...he didn't know most of the information about start times, and called vitor belfort by the name "vitor bellfrott" three times. also, rogerio nogueira is now "roger-ario no gi area" actually, no one seemed to know what was going on...michael buffer says tickets are still on sale...trump comes out and says the event is sold out...?
anyway, the weigh-in results...looks like levens was the only one not to make weight.

have fun and good luck on the picks, ceg! i think i may go over to smithers' place if i'm feeling up to it. more than likely, though, i'll start reading the spoilers and stay home.
...also, no blackjack...good plan!
...one more also, good luck to NY PJ1 making some $ off your pics.
buentello wins the decision over gary goodridge in what could best be described as a hungover early morning sparring practice. paul is VERY lucky aleks wasn't able to get cleared.
fuck yeah! vitor! he landed jabs at will throughout the first round, martin played right into his game and followed him around the ring. martin gets a takedown in the second, but vitor gets back up, lands a flying knee that staggers martin and vitor backs off and lands the finishing punches. martin is out cold!
awesome win for vitor! he looks great at 185. his hand speed is still unreal.
also, very cool to see randy couture come out with him and be in his corner. one of the many things i like about this sport.
and btw.... where the heck has ReleasH been lately?????
miss you J Bully!!!
Hey guys!!! I've been away too long. :( I missed you all too! I've been working like a crazy person for the last two weeks ... close to 80 hours each week.
But I was able to get my picks in for the Fight Night ... albeit it with one minute to spare, so who knows how well I will do.

you're crazy busy with the work. 80 hours / week?!?!
well, have a break tonight and good luck on the picks!
better fight than i thought it would be so far. burns looked good in the first part of the first round. i didn't think he'd be able to stand with johnson, but he's hanging in there. johnson is definitely landing the more powerful shots. i thought johnson was going to finish in the second, but a couple more takedowns and not much from either guy on the ground.

cb vs. jesse coming on now...
not a bad fight to start the night, a little bit of back and forth on the ground, but cb kept getting jesse's back.
now we'll see what happens here. another eye poke!
