    Yum! Yum! YUM! :)

I was a bit confused because a taco shell here is hard but I see from what you've written and from the links that they're actually wrapped in tortillas. :)

Yeah, I think I'm going to love these. :)

Here we have a del mar sauce which is creamy, pink and spicy and has prawns in it. You can have it on burritos, tacos or tortillas, actually I think you can even have it on nachos. We used to buy it direct from the local Mexican place for parties and get togethers and just warm it a little and dip corn chips in. :) It's good!

Really don't understand why you'd bother with B&Js when you've got all the yummo gelateria in Melbourne town.

It's like being from Dublin and going to some outback Aussie pub for a Guinness. Rome and going to the Starbucks in Seattle for a cappucino. Oh yeah, by the way, the original Starbucks, it's across the road from Pike Place markets. Go boo at it.

Thanks jen, some great stuff here. :)

I'm mostly a fresh produce kinda girl but I admit to a fascination with what Americans have been able to come up with in terms of junk food or even just things like burritos for breakfast  , so I guess I'll mostly be sticking to fresh, simple stuff but haha, there's just some things I have to know about on the junk front. : D It's always fascinated me that some people have bacon and eggs and pancakes for breakfast and that syrup goes all over the lot. I really only need a taste. I'm disappointed I won't be there for Thanksgiving so I can try the marshmallow sweet potato thingy! Which fills me with equal parts fascination and dread! ; ) : D
:D I love this post. I got waffles for breakfast in a diner in NY  same as you, just to see what it's like, sick sick sick (and not the good kinda sick)

Oh I love fried cheese! Well I make salads in the summer quite often, greek salads with fried haloumi. It's only shallow fried though, and really yummy. Actually it might even be a little "squeaky"!
I used to love deep fried camembert, with a little cranberry sauce. They served that in restaurants quite regularly here for a while. I can't eat that much soft cheese these days though. :(
:) I made a FANTASTIC deep fried brie in sweet and sour sauce around Christmas time. :o mmmmm... cheese... fried cheese yummy!

    Well geez Hinny! :p Can't I try both? :D

We do have some awesome gelaterias here and I am a regular sampler but you know when in Rome. :D People talk about Ben and Jerry's often so I'm keen to try it just like I'm really keen to try all the other things I've heard people speak of, that are part of local life. :) Besides, we don't have it here.

Being from Melbourne, Starbucks probably isn't going to cut it for me, seeing as I protested the opening of the one in Lygon Street and I NEVER buy coffee from them. Tried it once and know that there are much better coffee options out there. :D

hmmm, cheese whizz you say? We'll see then. I'm not a huge fan of fake food, but you know I like to try stuff if the opportunity arises. I'll probably put cheese steaks low down on the list of things to try! If I get to it so be it and if not, oh well. :D

Yeah, I've had waffles so I've not got a burning desire to repeat it. I suspect that I'll not be able to try everything because I really can't stomach a lot of high sugar, high fat kinds of foods. But you know when you get a craving to try something or you're just tired and can't be stuffed? Figure I'll save my junk food fixes for then, same as I do here, I'll just make sure to try things that I can't get here.

There are so many things over the years that I've heard Americans talk about with regard to food and drink that I have no point of reference for. Just don't have it here and can't imagine what it would taste like. There are some things that I've been fascinated with that have finally come here and I've tried, like Reeces Peanut Butter cups, man those things filled me with equal parts dread and fascination for YEARS! Just couldn't imagine it, but I like em, although they're definitely a sometimes food. Oh and Crispy Creme! I queued up, well Mum did while I waited in the car, from 12.30am to 4am just to get a couple of boxes of those when the first store finally opened. Tried them, they're ok but way too much fat and sugar for me. Now I've tried them I don't need to have another one. They're not my thing. I'd prefer a Mr Donut chocolate jam ball if I was fanging for a donut. :)

Seattle! I purposely sought that one out to boo at it! I booed at it from the outside, then I walked in and booed at the counter!

I should find out where the original Maccas is and boo at that one, too.
