Jack has had his moments, like when he was doing Ben's surgery...his character is inconsistently written, sometimes he's great, other times its just "I have cancer Bailey....cancer!!!!"
yes. i feel like i am the one with the split personality when i watch him. one minute i love him...the next i want to kill him off myself.
same with locke, though lately he's been doing nothing BUT annoying me.
What is everyone's who's seen the whole things favorite season??
Season 3 is my favorite. There are some weak episodes (the cage ones), but the build up leading to the finale (the best episode of the series so far), make it the best for me.
I like pre island Locke much better than on island Locke. I mean most of the bad things that have happened on the island are caused by Locke: Hatch blows up because Locke loses faith in the button, Locke blows up the Flame, Locke blows up the sub, Boone dies and Locke wanders off, Locke lets Benry escape, and now season 4 Locke has totally lost it. Yeah he can control the weather and has some connection on the island and Smokey didn't kill him but for the most part he pisses me off more than probably anyone else on the show.
Another thing that kinda troubled me about Locke is how did he kill Naomi? He couldn't kill Cooper, Jack, the cop from his flashback, but yet he could kill Naomi?

Maybe he couldn't kill them peeps because he knew them and had some kind of an attachment to. He never had seen Naomi.

He killed Naomi because Walt told him to. Simple as that.
You know, actually...as simple as that comment is...it's very true!! Walt and Locke did form a close bond and friendship...and Locke seemed to know Walt is "special".

Didn't all Walt say was get up - you have work to do?
So was "the work to do" to keep the people on the boat from contacting the island? Then Locke failed by not killing Jack and not destroying the phone.
Do you think that is why taller ghost Walt hasn't appeared to Locke anymore and why Locke couldn't find Jacob?

The hatch wouldn't have lasted as long as it did without Locke. Jack would have stopped pushing it long before.
Also anyone would want to stay on the island if they couldn't walk before they got there. I like Locke because he is always asking the questions the viewers want to know.

VERY good points and I totally agree!! BUT, New Leader Locke is weak...and Ben's totally effing with him.
This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper
So was "the work to do" to keep the people on the boat from contacting the island? Then Locke failed by not killing Jack and not destroying the phone.
No the work was to stop everyone from leaving the island. He obviously failed at that because at least the 6 got off. But he was right since Jack wants to go back.
Locke follows his instincts, and more often than not those instincts guide him to the right course of action. We may not see what good he's doing in the present, but in the future most of Locke's actions probably will benefit all the people on the island.
It's clear he has a connection with the island, so we can't be quick to forget about that. He can get confused and lost track of his goals at times, but circumstances generally lead to him regaining his composure. He also worked in a box factory, so if someone on the island needs a box in an instant, he's their man. I bet Jack regrets attempting to shoot Locke now... no boxes for him!
Locke definitely has some sort of connection but to me there are two thigns he's always searching for
He's looking for someone to guide him and something to have faith/believe in.
Whether it be his dad, the commune, jack (if my s1 memories are correct), jacob, or taller ghost walt it doesnt really matter.
On a tangent, and this may have been discussed before, but if there is a Taller Ghost Walt is he dead? or can Smokey/the Island use whomever it needs to impersonate to get the job done given who is supposed to do it?
tangent 2, since Michael and Walt aren't part of the Oceanic 6 WTF are they!!!! I do agree with some that Michael is possibly they Ben's person on the boat.
ah this show is so great it drives me insane.

I don't see how the person on the boat could be anyone other than michael. That "You're going to have to sit down" comment Ben made pretty much sealed the deal, and well with michael definitely popping up in the next 2 episodes it's the only way he can get in.
As for ghost Walt, isn't the Smoke monster thing only ever appear as people dressed in black or as a black animal? I think ghost walt is probably connected to jacob in some way. He's obviusly not affiliated with Ben since Ben is mocking Locke's attempts at following leads, so maybe Walt has somehow communicated with jacob and was acting as the go between? Afterall, Jacob doesn't seem to like Ben at all and Ben could be mocking out of fear that Jacob has switched sides. Of course, that's all pretty much wild speculation. Not really enough info on Walt or jacob to make any real predictions.

Well thats a relief to know that whiny little bastard has it coming. Him and Shannon are the only cast members who annoyed me. I quietly cheered when they killed her off.
Well thats a relief to know that whiny little bastard has it coming. Him and Shannon are the only cast members who annoyed me. I quietly cheered when they killed her off.
I have to agree with that. Shannon just sucked big time... I found no good qualities in that bitch! Now Charlie had a lot of good, entertaining moments. But he also had a whole bunch of irritating moments as well. And those moments outweighed the good moments, so I too was wishing for his exit from the show.
"What the hell do you mean you saw Walt?" Sawyer says. "In a dream?"
"No dream," Locke says. "It was Walt, only, taller."
"Taller? What, like a giant?"
Locke looks at him.
"Okay, what exactly did Walt tell you?"
"He said I had work to do, that I had to stop this woman Naomi from bringing the rest of her people here."
"What? You didn't ask any follow up questions?"
"Ben had shot me and left me for dead. Walt saved my life, so I pretty much took him at his word."
so can we assume that Ben can appear in different places as different people? Maybe he appeared as Walt cos he knew Locke wouldn't listen to him that time. And he appeared as the therapist in last weeks one... cos it was she who told Juliette to go find them but later Juliette said that Ben was telling her what to do. Sorry if this has been said or seemed obvious to everyone but I haven't really been following the thread... thought you were too far ahead but you're only a few days.

Perhaps Claire's gonna find some redemption this week when Locke 'lets' (that fucking annoys me too... how they're so quick to accept orders) her talk to wotshisface with the grenade in his mouth. She's due something interesting to do rather than walk around with the baby the whole time.

No, that would make it the Oceanic 7, as five have already been revealed.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
The preview said the "last 2" of the Oceanic 6 would be revealed. (I'm guessing Sunburn and Jin & Tonic)
I don't think Turnip Head is counted as a can in the six pack.
I saw something that counted Turnip head as one, maybe it was wrong.

Cool article about the possibilities of the final members of the Oceanic 6. I don't think Aaron is included in that group since he wasn't born or on the manifest of Oceanic 815. http://tv.ign.com/articles/859/859071p1.html
That said, I'm more interested in the other 2 who got off the island but apparently died before rescue.
