interesting read, but nothing mind-blowing. i just like to read anything i can to maybe get another angle on something

and apparently hurley said "it" and not "he" - my ears have deceived me.

Joe you mentioned before that you think its Widmore trying to keep penny away from des.. but i believe there are bigger things at work. we know what the island can do.. we know what a secret it has to be.. they are trying to protect something much larger than a love there...

I know I'm quoting you twice on this, but I was just skimming lostpedia because of JSBE's question list and saw this on Matthew Abbadon. I know Lost loves their anagrams and his name when scrambled up is "What Bad Boatmen."

So it looks like Charlie, Locke and Ben are right, Jack was wrong, and I'm guessing Abbadon is either on the freighter or somehow related to it.

as for the remaining 3 people that left the island, i think you can eliminate a few pretty quick...

    locke - duh

    ben - duh again

rose and bernard - for rose's cancer

rousseau - because she's lived on the island forever

people i think might have left...

jin and sun - for the baby (counted as 2 people)

claire - for aaron (counted as 1 person)

    desmond - for penny

this is not to say that anyone i didn't list doesn't have a reason to want to leave...and obviously no one has any idea what the circumstances were for the 6 that were able to leave the island.

ahhh sweeeeet. i even said last night when we were watching " i bet thats an anagram". nice.

im still trying to process those 2 pictures you posted. we already know christian is a huge character.. he's been linked to 4 people so far. he fathered 2 of them. he could have staged his own death and made sure the plane crashed on that island. we have to figure out what his involvement would be in this plot.. is he dharma? widmore? someone else...this also brings up the question of was jack being crazy in the finale show to go see if his father is drunker than him.. or is he still alive and got off the island too...and if he did maybe thats kate's "him".. you never know.. he's a charming guy and they do show jack being worried that his first wife was cheating with him... could be forshadowing .. hmmmmm

the other thiing i wanted to know.. i know they were in a mental hospital but how did hurleys pal see charlie? was he just nutso and pointing at anyone? did he see charlie?
  • Man, you guys covered it all. I'm gonna watch it again on Saturday just to let it all sink in.

What a great scene when Hurley tells Claire about Charlie. You just see the anguish on his face and the way he was walking. Poor dude.

One last thing before I head out, but why did Hurley lie to the cop about Ana Lucia? Do you think maybe that's part of the agreement the people who were rescued had to agree too - to deny all knowledge of anyone on the island?

Or was Hurley spending too much time with Juliet and picked up her knack for telling fibs? ;)

  • Solid opener last night ... sure not many "answers", but the show we fell in love with in season one was one of "questions", no need to rush to the finish at this point. As an aside, these producers/storytellers know what they are doing ... scary to think this story they have been telling was all in their head.

    as for some questions:
What has happened to Hurley's money? they thought he was dead ... it is all gone.

Why did Naomi cover for the survivors? she might have also been covering for herself. also, if she didn;t cover, she would not have been able to reset the phone.

Why does Hurley deny that he knows Ana Lucia? was he supposed to say survied the flight, but thanks to a DWI she was killed off?

Who is Matthew Abbadon? the lost version of Kobayashi (usual suspects)

Who are the Oceanic Six, what are they hiding, and why are they hiding it? we know three and gradually they all will feel very quilt ridden.

What was the meaning of Hurley's vision of Charlie? one, he is crazy, two, charlie was telling him they have to go back.

Who are the "they" who Charlie says need Hurley's help? the 6

How can Lewis see Charlie? 1: crazy, 2: he was there

Why does Hurley tell Jack that he's sorry for having gone with Locke? 1: they were boys, 2: we will probably find out -- guessing that hurley could have helped jack.

What is 'it' that will do whatever it takes to bring them back? i think It is the star of the show ... the island.
I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either.
  • Why does Hurley deny that he knows Ana Lucia? was he supposed to say survied the flight, but thanks to a DWI she was killed off?

I'm guessing the 6 that made it off the island had to cut a deal to where they can't talk about what happened on the island, and have to lie about if anyone is still there. Hence why Jack said he is sick of lying, the black dude asking hurley if they are all really dead, and not admitting he knew Ana.
Who are the Oceanic Six, what are they hiding, and why are they hiding it? we know three and gradually they all will feel very quilt ridden.

Exactly, they soon start feeling guilty and want to go back. I'm guessing they had to screw some people over in order to get off the island, similar to what Michael had to do. I'm torn whether or not I think Sawyer is one of the 6, he'd obviously only go back with Kate. But I have a strong feeling when they show Kate's flash forward it will NOT involve being with Sawyer, in fact I think she'll be with someone else and that will be a twist. People will get their panties in a bunch, and then in the next season or last season they show even further into the future where Kate and Sawyer finally hook up or whatever.
What was the meaning of Hurley's vision of Charlie? one, he is crazy, two, charlie was telling him they have to go back.

Similar to Boone appearing to Locke telling him he had to help Eko. The island wants Hurley to go back and help the ones they left.
Who are the "they" who Charlie says need Hurley's help? the 6

I would say "they" are the people they left behind (screwed over, etc) to get off the island. Hurley and the other 5 have to go back and fix their mistake.
Why does Hurley tell Jack that he's sorry for having gone with Locke? 1: they were boys, 2: we will probably find out -- guessing that hurley could have helped jack.

I'm guessing Locke fucks something up again on the island and was "wrong" like blowing up the submarine, breaking the computer so they can't enter the code, blowing up the communication place, etc.

my impression that hurley's pal was also fake....or nutso.

oh, and as for sawyer going with locke's camp...guess it wasn't him that kate had to get back to in the season 3 finale. maybe solat was right and it's kate's baby with sawyer...but he'd be less than 2 years old...i still don't think it was a kid she was talking about.
though...then again...hurley went with locke's camp, too, and is off the island so who the eff knows....maybe sawyer's off, too.
in other words...i've provided zero insight....haha.

no i tend to agree.. the tone in her voice sounded more like it was a command.. she had to get home.. like she would be in trouble if she didnt.. i dunno.

Thanks for posting the picture of Charlie underwater and Christian in the chair. I missed both of those while watching. I think it was a great episode. Previous premieres have let me down but this one was great. A+.

Hopefully, since they have an end date set, all the shows will be like this without filler.

If anyone's interested, I just went to abc.com and it looks like there is a 2 minute preview of next week's episode. I didn't watch it, but I thought some people here might want to.

Me too! Especially cause I think if knowing who's flashforwards are coming up, then it most likely spoils the remaining 3 spots in the Oceanic 6

  • This show was meant to be run commercial free non-stop (season DVD's)...just got myself so hyped by re-watching the first three seasons in record time and damn I hate commerical/week long breaks between the shows lol :)....and I need to say this episode was brilliant....I was worried with the flash-forward aspect and how they could maintain the story but I think this turn just re-enforced the show better....love this show....will be a damn shame when its all over....my favorite TV show ever....

  • The Eli Stone show wasn't awful, I only watched it (off and on) for the Oceanic Air commercial, which was at like the 55 minute mark in the show.. ugh..

    Anyway..

The question I have is: WHO DIES? OR WTF HAPPENS? WHY ONLY 6?

Okay, sorry for the caps, but Hurley is seeing visions which make him think that "they need me (Hurley)". Jack asks Hurley if he plans on telling anyone.. TELLING ANYONE WHAT?

    My ideas?

An innocent dies, and it's basically Jack's fault. OR.. They hide the fact that 30 or so other people survived and jump on the chopper/boat without telling them. OR... I don't know!

Which 6 left? Jack, Kate, Hurley we know.. Sun/Jin/Claire? My predictions thus far.. Although Jin got a DUI in real life, meaning like the others who got DUIs, he may go the way of the dead.

    I feel like I'm ranting..

    Discuss!

  • i think the hardest part of this episode was watching hurley tell claire. it definitely made me realize how important charlie was to this show. i think alot of people at first were happy that they finally killed him off. i think that opinion will change more and more as the series moves ahead.
