Say, I'm not sure if anyone talked about this when the episode aired, but, did anyone catch how Locke's Dad got on the island? It took me watching the third season again to catch it.
there was an explanation other than the "magic box" he was supposedly inside? it has been months and months and months so i'm racking my brain...0 -

Didn't he tell Sawyer, he died? He said something happened, he blacked out and ended up there. Then he said, "It's a little hot to be heaven.""We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

drtyfrnk29 wrote:Ok, cool. Remember when Locke is in Ben's closet and Ben tells richard to "get him the man from Tallahassee"? Shoot to the next episode or so when Locke traps Sawyer in the Black Rock with his father and he begins to tell sawyer that he was driving down Highway whatever in Tallahassee when he gets slammed into from the rear. He says as he was getting put in the ambulance one of the EMTs winked at him before it all went black and the next thing he knows, he's sitting in that dark room when Ben opens the door and to reveal him to Locke.
oh yeah...it is all coming back to me and now i sort of wish i did a power viewing of season 3 on dvd. i didn't do it for season 2 when season 3 started because it was only 4-5 months between, whereas from season 3 to season 4 will be 8 months - ugh.0 -

Locke's father was convinced the island is purgatory but in reality Ben's people slammed into the back of him, drugged him, put him in the submarine and shipped him to the island. At least that's what I gather
I agree with everything you wrote except that his father thought he was in hell, hence the "it's a little hot to be heaven" comment."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

yea i picked up on that because i remember him saying the ambulance worker said something like "you are going to a better place" and then he ends up on the island.. i figured that was the case.0 -

yes he thought he was dead. he was drugged, passed out for forever and wakes up to see what he thought was his dead son. remember he pushed Locke out the window thinking he killed him and then fled. so to be there with him meant he was on the other side. its not like there is a definitive answer for what its like after we go.. he could have really believed that was it0 -

SEASON PREMIERE
FEELING THAT THEIR RESCUE IS IMMINENT, THE SURVIVORS PONDER CHARLIE’S FINAL MESSAGE THAT THE PEOPLE CLAIMING TO LIBERATE THEM AREN’T WHO THEY SEEM TO BE, ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF “LOST”
Awarded the 2005 Emmy and 2006 Golden Globe for Best Drama Series, “Lost” returns for its fourth season of action-packed mystery and adventure -- that will continue to bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are lost -- THURSDAY, JANUARY 31 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. But they discovered that the island holds many secrets, including a mysterious smoke monster, polar bears, housing and hatches with electricity and hot & cold running water, a group of island residents known as “The Others” and a mysterious man named Jacob. The survivors have also found signs of those who came to the island before them, including a 19th century sailing ship called The Black Rock, the remains of an ancient statue, as well as bunkers belonging to the Dharma Initiative -- a group of scientific researchers who inhabited the island in the recent past.
In the season premiere episode, “The Beginning of the End,” feeling that their rescue is close at hand, the survivors don't know whether to believe Charlie’s final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be.
The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 90-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets.0 -

nah i think its ben.. the "higher" person would be Jacob.. ponce i will punch you if you do it.. and i strongly feel that Jacob is being held captive by Ben. Ben can hear him and its the only thing he's got left. so when Locke heard him say help me.. it was because he was trapped. i made a theory about this before but it all has to do with keeping spirits locked inside with gun powder in a circle (what locke picked up) .. its a voodoo idea.
anyway i think its all ben. everyone believes in Jacob because it makes them feel great.. and Ben keeps Jacob captive so that he can remain on top0 -

I agree that it's Ben who pulls the strings on the island and I think he has more of an influence back off of the island than he lets on. It's just a shame we won't see any interaction between Ben and Richard this year because it looked like Richard was getting annoyed with Ben and might be choosing a new person to be the leader on the island (Locke) much like how he helped recruit Ben many years ago.
I wonder how they're going to explain where Richard is when he was supposed to lead the Others to the Temple.- Busted down the pretext
