Was impresed the Skins won that game, maybe it makes up for blowing the other game. As a skins fan I am just glad the season has meaning for another week.
Here's what I want to happen, with a disclaimer. I know it won't happen. The Giants make an offer to restricted free agent Derek Anderson. Cleveland would probably match, but if they didn't and decide to go with Brady Quinn, it would cost the Giants a 1st and 3rd round pick. I'm okay with that. The 1st rounder will probably be in the high teens or early 20's. The Giants would be upgrading at QB, and actually getting a younger QB to boot. The only problem is they won't be able to get Braylon Edwards to come over with him, as those 2 are one of the top QB/WR combos in the league. They could then either shop Manning and hope to get some picks back to replace those lost in the Anderson deal (don't think they'll be able to get a 1 and a 3, but they should be able to get something decent) or put the 2 in an open competition in training camp. Like I said, it'll never happen. Even though Accorsi is gone, I think the Giants are still unwilling to admit they made a mistake throwing a ton of picks and cash at a kid just because his brother is great.

As much as I hate Eli Manning, a lot of the mistakes on offense are not his fault, last night he did throw some terrible passes but he threw some great passes that got dropped...if those catches were made there would have been a lot of first downs and probably way more points on the board
their offensive line cannot hold a decent-excellent defense whatsoever...come playoff time that will kill them...now with shockey out that offensive line will be even worse, shockey wasn't making the receptions he has made in previous years but his blocking was the best on that line

agreed. everyone mentions how he made the playoffs three years in a row and now maybe four. well, I could have gotten that team to the playoffs with tiki barber as my rb. he almost cost them the playoffs last year by not using him enough the past six weeks. the dude said he was retiring...what were they saving him for? I would have given/thrown him the ball 50 times a game.

I seriously doubt they're gonna give up on Manning after four years, and three consecutive playoff apperances (hopefully). I wouldn't feel comfortable with Derek Anderson as my QB just yet. And I am not sure about a QB who plays at Hawaii stepping in and playing at the Meadowlands. Remember, it took Phil Simms a while before he was able to win in the playoffs.
Derek Ward was a BIG injury. He was starting to remind me of Tiki a little bit. Now we have to deal with Shockey out. Even though he wasn't having a great season, he was still a big threat in passing game and a good blocker.
Have to keep in mind that they've played the last couple games without either starting safety and obviously without Kiwanuka.

let's see how colt brennan does against georgia. that game will be a huge measuring stick for him. a bigger downside than his level of competition might be his age. he'll be 25 by the start of the '08 season. that being said, he projects well as an NFL QB and i think he'll fly off the board pretty quickly (maybe after brian brohm and matt ryan... who else am i forgetting? andre' woodson?). a lot of NFL teams need franchise QBs right now.
the LB class isn't quite as strong this year, but i still think that's where the giants should be looking. they need some serious help there.
i like gibril wilson. he hits hard and makes plays on the ball. he's not the best SS in the league, but he was a nice surprise as a fifth round pick. i'm starting to like michael johnson, too.
ward was a big loss, but it wouldn't have been nearly as devastating if they hadn't traded ryan grant to the packers. tom coughlin decided that he couldn't contribute enough on special teams to warrant a spot on the roster. idiot. that decision is the reason why we can't use ward's injury as an excuse for the giants' offensive problems.
yeah... run right. somebody tell kevin gilbride that there are two sides to a football field. this is not rocket science. he's the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL. he failed as a QB coach so they promoted him to offensive coordinator. brilliant. it's kinda like that episode of seinfeld where elaine couldn't fire the sketchy mail room guy so she just kept promoting him until he wasn't her problem anymore.
gilbride's play calling is motivated by a fear of losing rather than a desire to win, and the end result is that he's way too conservative and doesn't give the offense a chance to score points. i bet eli would be a better (and more confident) QB if gilbride actually let him take chances every so often.

he can throw the ball downfield. They're hardly ever open. It's hard to have field awareness when there's defenders in your face. I'm not saying he's without fault. And there are things he could do better. But the play calling could be better.

you are spot on bro. he is always falling backwards on his right foot lofting a ball in the air. he cannot find the hot receiver and is always making a stupid throw when the blitz comes. i would send 6-7 at him on every play, all day. the reason he hits the deep throw to burress so often is that he just heaves it up there and hopes for the best.

I think his job will be safe, unless they get humiliated in Tampa. Even then, I'm not so sure. did any other team go to the playoffs the last 3 years? (Incl 2007) I know they were talking about that during the game, but I was in and out. The Colts are the only team I can think of
Eli had two TD's dropped again. Sure, he couldnt take the snap and fumbled a few times, but his receivers have to catch the fucking ball. 2 TD's dropped last week (Burress and Toomer) and 2 TD's dropped this week (Toomer and Smith). That said, he still looks confused out there. Decision making is not his strength.
Bradshaw is going to be good. Reminds me of Dave Meggett the way he jukes and slashes. He is also fast and when through the second level he can run away. Jacobs is still the man. He is a wrecking ball.
I think they can win at least one game if they can run the ball. Run, run, run through Tampa, and then its a crapshoot. They almost beat Dallas twice, and they had Green Bay until the 4th qtr when all hell broke loose. The defense should be able to stop Tampas offense, but you cant win if you cant score.
Coughlin has to go. Playoffs three times, sure, but like I said before, they are going to the playoffs in spite of him, not because of him. The defense saved the day this year, and Tiki saved the day the past two years. Other than the first two drives when the bills were ampled from being visited from Everrett, the defense shut them down.

steve smith's dropped TD pass was painful to watch. that's a completion last year at USC. it's the same damn ball...
but still, five fumbles and two interceptions from eli... that's awful. five fucking fumbles?!? really? there wasn't even any pressure on him the entire game.
and it still pisses me off that kevin gilbride chooses not to take goal line play calling seriously. four chances from one yard out, four plays that anyone at home could have seen coming. why??? all he had to do was roll eli out on a play action and he would have walked into the end zone. that fourth down play didn't fail because of a missed block. it failed because the defense read the play from the line and were able to jump it before the o-linemen could get to their spots.
and as long as i'm ranting, here's the one thing about the coughlin-era giants that angers me more than anything else: why don't they understand what a poison call is?!? this is a simple concept that everyone who has ever played pee wee football understands. when a punt is bouncing around, the receiving team runs away from it, not towards it!!!

but fortunately they're in the playoffs now, and it looks like they've found a pretty sick RB in ahmad bradshaw. i think they were afraid of giving him carries earlier in the season because he was having trouble holding on to the ball (not that jacobs is any better). hopefully that's behind him now. jacobs and bradshaw look like a potentially nasty "thunder and lightning" combo. plus it'll save a lot of wear and tear on jacobs. he probably won't last three more years if used as an every-down back.
good job by the defense, aside from those first two drives. kawika mitchell played the game of him life, and it was nice to see corey webster (finally) contribute.

Gilbride has got to wake the fuck up. when I saw the post game interview with coughlin and he said that throwing 52 times on sunday was the best chance to win, i wanted him fired as he left the podium. if Gilbride came up with that plan, fire his ass too. have the giants ever hit an up and out this year? a quick slant (one maybe, the td to buress a few weeks back) it was so fucking windy on sunday it wasnt believeable and he throws it 52 times?????? i still cannot get over that. even down 23-3 with a quarter and a half left, they should have still run, and run right. they were getting 10 yards a pop running right.
this defense knows they are playing in NY and they know the tradition. they appear to play with pride and play hard. this offense has no idea what it means to be a giant. no pride, no nothing. flat. this coaching staff even took the fire out of Shockey the past few years.

Anyone else think Bradshaw is sick! He's fast as hell and may need to the be # 1 over time with Jacobs being the short yard guy.

I think his job will be safe, unless they get humiliated in Tampa. Even then, I'm not so sure. did any other team go to the playoffs the last 3 years? (Incl 2007) I know they were talking about that during the game, but I was in and out. The Colts are the only team I can think of
Bradshaw is going to be good. Reminds me of Dave Meggett the way he jukes and slashes. He is also fast and when through the second level he can run away. Jacobs is still the man. He is a wrecking ball.
I think they can win at least one game if they can run the ball. Run, run, run through Tampa, and then its a crapshoot. They almost beat Dallas twice, and they had Green Bay until the 4th qtr when all hell broke loose. The defense should be able to stop Tampas offense, but you cant win if you cant score.
Coughlin has to go. Playoffs three times, sure, but like I said before, they are going to the playoffs in spite of him, not because of him. The defense saved the day this year, and Tiki saved the day the past two years. Other than the first two drives when the bills were ampled from being visited from Everrett, the defense shut them down.
but still, five fumbles and two interceptions from eli... that's awful. five fucking fumbles?!? really? there wasn't even any pressure on him the entire game.
and it still pisses me off that kevin gilbride chooses not to take goal line play calling seriously. four chances from one yard out, four plays that anyone at home could have seen coming. why??? all he had to do was roll eli out on a play action and he would have walked into the end zone. that fourth down play didn't fail because of a missed block. it failed because the defense read the play from the line and were able to jump it before the o-linemen could get to their spots.
and as long as i'm ranting, here's the one thing about the coughlin-era giants that angers me more than anything else: why don't they understand what a poison call is?!? this is a simple concept that everyone who has ever played pee wee football understands. when a punt is bouncing around, the receiving team runs away from it, not towards it!!!

but fortunately they're in the playoffs now, and it looks like they've found a pretty sick RB in ahmad bradshaw. i think they were afraid of giving him carries earlier in the season because he was having trouble holding on to the ball (not that jacobs is any better). hopefully that's behind him now. jacobs and bradshaw look like a potentially nasty "thunder and lightning" combo. plus it'll save a lot of wear and tear on jacobs. he probably won't last three more years if used as an every-down back.
good job by the defense, aside from those first two drives. kawika mitchell played the game of him life, and it was nice to see corey webster (finally) contribute.
