I detect toy stuffing on her bed.

years ago, I told my dental hygienist that I didn’t need floss. “I don’t floss” “But it’s good for other things” “like what?” “like sewing”

I’ve been using it ever since to stitch up dog toys. our two current dogs are only mildly destructive. the previous, Gracie, made toy destruction her life’s work.

Lol.  I tried to do a surgical repair on one toy…she completely destroyed it within 24 hours. No more. Now she makes it her mission to remove any potential squeakers within a day.  Finding toys without squeakers, that she’s actually interested in, has proven challenging 😥😩😜

Thank you! I did a DNA test and he’s a crazy mix of German shepherd, husky, boxer, American staff, golden retriever, Rottweiler, chow + a few more breeds.

Sometime between the hours of 7:30 and 11:30 this morning there was a massacre of the familiae Crocodiliae in my house.

Investigators are on site, but no suspects have yet been identified.

Our backyard is not very big, I fear it would soon be overwhelmed with these shameful burials 😳🫣

I swear they put those squeakers in so dogs will destroy the toys…and the owners will buy more toys.

in another life, I picked up some hitchhikers and they asked if I wanted a dog. I said “sure.” This is Short Mort. He looked like a shepherd/afghan mix and had short little legs. I loved that guy but I lived in a colorado town where all the dogs roamed loose. Poor guy got ran over by a semi truck.

Truth! Oh well, I’d rather her desto a few toys rather than furniture or footwear.

poor Short Mort.  He looked adorable.

I was such an irresponsible pet owner back then. See the green truck in the first picture? Mort jumped out of the back when I was traveling down a gravel road. He just shook himself off and carried on. I fed him garbage dog food with bacon grease on it (he loved it!). I let him roam free with the other town dogs. I lived in a small, cold, high elevation mountain town. All gravel roads except for highway 40 (where he got hit). packs of dogs would block your way and look at you like “what?”

on the night he died, someone knocked on my door and told me “I think your dog got hit.” it was awful. the ground was too frozen to bury him. I had to chop a hole in the ice of a river. damn, I’m getting sad just remembering it. Mort was awesome. ❤️

    well, shit.

yesterday was a good day…I took Piper to meet Dave (dcfaithful) and his new rescue, Laila, at a brewpub. dogs and people had a fine time. this morning, Piper’s left leg is swollen double and she won’t put weight on her foot. I just took her to the ER vet and they said there was a 3-4 hour wait and said I should just come back when the 8:00 AM doc shows up. that’s the plan. I have no clue what’s going on. Piper was fine when we went to bed…

sure wish they could talk. went back at 8:00. kept getting shuffled back by more serious cases. went outside to call my wife at 10:30 and Piper seemed to be limping a lot less. said “screw it” and told the staffI was heading home. gave Piper a Rimadyl and Benadryl and she took a 3 hour nap. she got up, limping as bad as ever and acting weird. So now I’m back at the ER vet!

she did pose for a nice picture:

@Wobbie. How’s Piper doing?  I hope it was nothing more than an insect bite/sting and that she recovers quickly.  Sending good vibes in your direction.

it was a day from hell at the ER vet. long story short, there was no definite conclusion. they x-rays showed no fractures or ligament damage. most likely a soft tissue injury but it could have been something else. piper is on a rest regimen, with anti-inflammatories and pain meds. she has already done a 180. it makes me wonder if she even needed the $700 visit but, my god, she was limping so badly we thought she may have had a broken bone!

Glad to hear she's already turning things around. Sucks about the vet bill, I know that sting and then some recently.

I just had a $500 vet bill because my cat had the sniffles and wasn't eating. Of course, the day after the took her to the vet she started eating just fine.
