    petey looks AWESOME!
and i agree, we too watch our pet's weight to increase longevity and quality of life. our vet always comments what great shape our dogs and cat are in, and suki the kitty will be celebrating her 20th birthday september 30th! so absolutely, ALL about getting the quality time with our babies!

now if only i could manage to do the same with my own body... :|;)

So last night, Mochi, my 3 year old yellow lab decided to eat an entire pack of Orbit gum
I called the vet at around 11:00 pm and took her over to the emergency pet hospital. Apparantly, Xylitol, an ingredient in sugarless gum can cause extreme liver problems and even death. They enduced vomiting and got 23 pieces of gum out of her system. Crazy she ate the whole pack! :o They sent her home with me after about an hour. Poor thing!

The vet joked afterwards how the vomit was minty fresh!

when i first started to read this post i :o  :( .....b/c i was *just* going to say that xylitol is EXTREMELY dangerous to dogs, even fatal! i am so, so, soooo glad you got your doggie to the vet in time and all is well! whew! that is VERY serious shit. i am relieved all is well and happy ending.

What was very interesting was that I did some research on the internet and many people thought that it was not a big deal. Most said just keep an eye on her. I thought this was very weird and very disturbing that pet owners would not be safe rather than sorry.

well the timing just happens to coincide with me reading this very same information in one of my regular magazines. it was in either real simple or women's health (i'm thinking more than likely tho, real simple...i can't recall at the moment, but i remember reading it and thinking    so hell yea, best to get the word out, and ALWAYS err on the side of caution when it comes to your doggie's health, or anyone's for that matter.

So, this weekend, me and my girlfriend's dog had a moment, a moment where he chose me over her, quite the moment indeed, so ... he's almost "our" dog, and not just "her" dog ... with that ... I introduce, Little Guy (hey, I didn't name him)

he likes to start the weekend off with a little sushi ... and some beer ...

    LGAsahinewsmall.jpg

Saturday's are for relaxing, heading to the local divebar for some barbeque ... and of course, beer ...

    LGAventinus.jpg

and, if you've ever been to Lucky 13 in San Francisco, you know after a long day there, you need a nice bath ...

    LGBathTime.jpg

and then we listen to some Pearl Jam boots together ... ok, he was pretty wiped out and wated nothing to do with Pearl Jam ...

Lucky 13 a gay bar? Nope, it's a dirty place geared for people with tats that like punk rock. My kind of place, even if i'm sans tattoo.

The great thing about this place, the prices. That Aventinus I show above, it's an import, a place a block away from my house charges $11 for one. Lucky 13? $4.25!!! They have a lot of imports at great prices, but aren't pretentious enough to charge snooty prices like some bars do. You know, those places with "beer bibles"?

Anyway, as for LG ... he's not a youngin', he's 11. So, he'll always love his mom. But, I think he looks at me as a big toy ... I like to play with him more than she does, rough house ... so, I think he likes that, and she's cool with it to.

YES! Boxers are the BEST!!!! My girl Ziggy is the best dog ever!

Here she is eating my skirt at about 4 weeks or so.

I took her to work with me for three months and she would sit on my lap while I typed etc! Now she still wants to sit on people's laps! She doesn't realise she is big now!

And a couple of years old:

And all grown up about 4 years old:

And with her best friend, Floyd, the deaf Dalmatian.

And our tame Rainbow Lorikeet, Murphy, who walks around the floor and bosses my dogs around by pecking their heads and is just a general pain in the arse to them:

Huh? The first pic is only of Ziggy eating my skirt? No one else is in it.

Floyd will be 6 in November and Ziggy will be 5 in January. How time flies!

We walk Floyd and Zig a lot....nearly every day....because they live inside with us and go bonkers otherwise....even though they have their own yard....so it keeps them very trim and lean. We get a lot of compliments on them when we walk them! :D

And here's some of Floyd..... :D

This is Floyd about 12 weeks old or so with his Dad...the person he adores most in the world:

    n664304326_869636_3102.jpg

He's deaf and stubborn....and is NOT easy to train....but he'll do anything if you hold food in your hand!

Floyd and his sister in crime, Ziggy, like to sleep on their bean bags while Dad draws all day:
