so we've lost the last 13 out of 14 at The Igloo,

stemming back to the time when Phil Esposito was our GM .

The Garden is the 2nd oldest arena in the NHL, behind The Igloo.

So do we go out in style ( as a winner ) or do we just collapse like a house of playing cards?

Fuck we should be happy to see this place leveled to the ground.

    50 stitches for Del Zotto

    NY Daily News :
On Del Zotto's second shift of the game, the 19-year-old rookie blueliner went tumbling to the end boards along with Evgeni Malkin, with Malkin's skate blade kicking into Del Zotto's left rib cage, frighteningly close to his heart. The bloody cut required 50stitches to close - 12 inside and 38 outside - and Del Zotto will need every bit of his two-week Olympic break.

"I tried not to look at it. Apparently it was pretty gross," Del Zotto said afterward, sitting stiffly and in obvious discomfort in the locker room. "I saw the gauze after; it was a lot of gauze, a lot of blood. I just tried not to look. "

Looking at the boxscore from yesterday's game at the Islanders, how does Steve Downie have 14 goals and how is he even playing 18 minutes. I remember nothing but a "tough guy" from when he played with the Flyers.

wow another enforcer in Jody Shelly.
Admittedly , I didnt know much about him ( being out West in San Jose )
but from what i hear this guy is a bruiser.

gotta love this last game before olympic break
being a matinee game on an early sunday afternoon.

Avery with the skating & patience prowess ,
that ultimately changed the entire game and was the catalyst for the teams turnaround .
Christensen bursts out with 2 goals .
Congrats to Drury on his 250 career goal and 600 th point.

i'll be rooting for team USA, but really i'll be jonesing the return of the NYR on March 2 .

Also heard that there is a semi- shutdown of trades , ect,
Teams can still conduct waivers and other deals, they just cannot announce it until the night of the gold medal game in vancouver , at 12 : 00 Midnight .

Lets Go Red White and Blue , ( allbeit this time not the NYR but team USA )

cant belive we gotta wait for more than 2 weeks for the next game.

    talk about a momentum killer,

hopefully Del Z rests and gets back to game form so that he can hold down our Blueline.

I heard some rumbling on the NBC Olympic coverage that Jagr may be making this appearance at the games to give NHL teams a looky at him, and possibly could return to the NHL for the remainder of this season for the right suitors.
I understand he is under contract in the Russian KHL, but perhaps they would be compensated by any NHL team involved.

Also watched Sweden against the Belarussians today - surprisingly , no Henrik.
I guess even the King needs a day off every now and again .

    sorry -= i meant team USA .
I know Canada has to face Germany tonight, and if Luongo helps them through that battle, they get the Russians after that .

Todays NY Daily News had a great piece on Chris Drury, our faithful Yankee Loving Ranger Captain .

    Drurys Drive

Chris Drury's drive makes him go-to guy for USA and New York Rangers

VANCOUVER - When Brian Burke, GM of the U.S. men's Olympic hockey team, began mentally assembling a roster two summers ago, he reached out to the captain of the Rangers, Chris Drury.

"He's too humble to tell you this, but I will: he's the first guy we went to," Burke said Monday, by a security checkpoint outside Canada Hockey Place. "He's been a winner his whole life. His hockey IQ and his willingness to pay the price on the ice is second to none. He demonstrated that (Sunday) night."

When the U.S. team was officially announced, the selection of the 33-year-old Drury was roundly criticized.

He's past his prime, they said. He's never been the same player since he signed that big contract with the Rangers in 2007, they said. Then and now, Burke thought the criticism was completely unfair, and addressed it a day after Drury scored a big goal in the 5-3 upset over Canada, his second in as many games. It was part of the American onslaught that yesterday moved Canadian coach Mike Babcock to yank Martin Brodeur for Roberto Luongo.

"We put him on the team for leadership," coach Ron Wilson said. "He has those, well I'll say it, some Mike Eruzione-type qualities. He does a lot of dirty grunt work that oftentimes gets overlooked, but not by coaches."
