i love how they refer to malik as harry.

i hope this is behind them. this team does not need any more set backs during the final stretch of the season.

That was his nickname when he played here in Vancouver as well ....suppose to be a reference from the movie Harry and the Henderson’s

    love this blog .

who might you fellas guess is skating on thinner ice here in NY - Malik or Avery ?

gotta love the Harry & The Hendersons reference.

i'd change it too if i was named Marek.

Maybe they should try and ship him back out to the pasttures of Vancouver- that would be cool.

Sad thing is we would take him back right now given the injury crisis on our blue line ...........we only had one regular dman in our line up last night against the Stars and that was Salo who was just returning from injury. I have never witnessed such a decimation of injuries at one position!

we are not overflowing at the blueline either,...

alltho we NYR fans like to use Malik as a whipping boy,
his #s and stats are actually among the best ( defensemen ) as well as his + / - .
we have been lucky lately on defense , Tyutin, Girardi, Staal , & Pock all coming into their own,

and down in the farm a few prospects await their debuts / regular game appearances ( with Liffiton , Baranka , and Sauer all waiting and working )

    Rangers Quacking Up?
UPDATE: Betts will play, but Malik will not -- he won't be ready until the weekend pair in Philly and DC. Shanahan still out, likely to miss the next three games, enjoy the five-day break next week, and then come back. Moore will be sent back to Hartford. Thanks to Rangers Report and Blue Notes for the report from the morning skate.

Will yesterday's practice fight between Sean Avery and Marek Malik bring the Rangers together and give them a lift after their air-mailed loss to L.A. the other night? Or will it fracture a team that is already too fragile? The reactions of the players and coaches in the aftermath of the scrap seem to suggest to the former. But we'll find out for sure tonight when the Rangers take on the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Anaheim Ducks. For more on the tussle, see the Daily News, Journal News, Newsday

Well, the one highlight of the evening, as some of you know the Garden at every home game recognizes a "Season Suscriber of the Game" during one of the TV timeouts in the second period. Last night, my father, season ticket holder since 1966 was honoured. They showed him briefly on the scoreboard from his seat then we got to go on the ice at the end of the game to have a picture taken.
