Rangers bad boy Sean Avery, unconscious and not breathing, was rushed to a Manhattan hospital Wednesday morning in cardiac arrest just hours after his team's playoff loss, sources said.
Avery, 28, arrived at St. Vincent's Medical Center about 3 a.m., according to the hospital source. The Rangers had just lost 5-3 a short time earlier in the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden.
Avery, traded to the Rangers last year from Los Angeles, lives in Manhattan. The single winger is known for dating a bevy of celebrities, including Rachel Hunter and Elisha Cuthbert.
In March, the Daily News revealed that Avery's name and private cell phone number were in a huge client database for a Manhattan prostitution ring. He was listed as a $500 client of brothel Maison de L'Amour, although he adamantly denied using the hooker service.
There was no immediate word on what happened to Avery before he was taken to the hospital.
A source close to the team confirmed Avery had been rushed to the hospital, but declined to offer any specifics.
Avery played in last night's game and picked up an assist on the Rangers' second goal.
could this get any worse for the rangers this week?

I mean is there really a need to add this into the article after saying they guy isn't breathing and is in cardiac arrest? our newspapers are pathetic....
I can't stand the rangers, but for some reason I don't hate Avery...

Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Sean Avery suffered a lacerated spleen in Tuesday night’s game, and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
He was taken to St. Vincent’s hospital after the game, and was admitted following a CT scan. He is expected to make a full recovery during the off-season.
The Rangers return to action tomorrow, May 1, when they face-off against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game Four of their Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup at Madison Square Garden (7:00 p.m.)

but then again if they lose, i would rather it be on home ice. just so we can hear "let's go rangers" chants as the buzzer sounds rather than the "season's over" chant.
as cliche as it sounds... one game a time and hopefully they can make this a series again and get it to the 7th game.

Possibly, but unlikely. One win would be nice though.
The boids didn't look like they had any particularly better chance than anyone else until the playoffs started, now they look like they've elevated their game beyond anyone.

totally agree.
but teams that win the stanley cup don't make those stupid mistakes, and when they do, they are able to overcome them.
when the rangers blew the 3-0 lead in game one, i knew it wasn't ment to be. championship teams don't allow that to happen come playoff time.

Oh i totally agree that they are not a cup team...but this is like the Buffalo series (maybe not to the extreme) but we could have won this series...I think the Buffalo series was more in our reach, especially game 5, but we will see
If the rangers make it 3-2...game 6 will be ABSOLUTELY WILD
edit: i also like how there are 2 other series that are 3-0 and our series is the only 3-0 series that gets talked about

What do you guys think about Jagr hinting that it may be his last game? He's my all-time favorite and would hate to see him go, as I still enjoy watching him play even though it's not with the Pens.

They found the guy unresponoive and in cardiac arrest.
fucking scary.
The link doesn't say anything about cardiac arrest and him being unresponsive. In fact it's been confirmed by many different media outlets now that the whole cardiac arrest thing was nothing but a rumor by people saying he was rushed there this morning when in fact, him and his trainer went to the hospital after the game last night.
Strange story, I wonder what play and when the injury happened? A few people at work have said that it appeared Avery was slowing down as the game went along, but there wasn't any big hit or slash that I remember.

One round earlier in the playoffs, Avery drove Devils' goalie Martin Brodeur crazy with his antics - to the point that the Devil refused to shake Avery's hand when the series ended.
