Champagne Breakfast from New Jersey - I've had it with Mussina and let's get Shelley Duncan out there instead of Matsui. Matsui has not recovered from that wrist injury from two years ago.

NYPJ1 from Brooklyn - Another meaningless home run for A-Rod. This team is going to be like Russo's San Francisco Giants

Singularity from New York - I like Mussina but who really fears him? He's old, his balls don't break properly

Flannel Shirt from New England - You Yankee fans are nuts on this A-Rod stuff. He's a great player. the other guys have to step it up and get on base in front of him.

As usual, the only one making any sense whatsoever is the one from MA.

Honorable mention to Singularity. You are right, nobody fears Mussina....unless you are still in a close game in the 5th inning on ....he seems to get better as a game progresses.
All that's sacred, comes from youth....dedications, naive and true.

i am not pressing the panic button. i know there is still an insane amount of games to be played. to scrutinize any team this early on is ridiculous.

all i am saying is, i just cannot see mussina staying a starter come summer time. mussina to the bullpen, joba to the rotation.

Looking forward to seeing the kids pitch and then we have Pettitte ready to go this weekend? God I love this time of year. It's only 2 games in. Ease up people. There are so many reasons to be excited about this team.

we've had nothing but bad luck since he's come over to the team.
I don't think we're going to win another championship until he leaves.

I think they will. The curse stuff is signing pitchers like Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright, Kevin Brown and so on. For me this year is more about developing the pitchers, getting them to be good and capable of a full season. If it means 88 wins and no playoffs, so be it. Sometimes you have to step back to surge ahead again and if the payoff down the line is championships (which I think it will be), then it's worth it.

If they win three in a row, I'd think you'd be able to handle it. You just have to be patient with this and let the young pitchers develop.

hah! I know! That's a big IF. Oy.
Well the young pitchers will have to develop b/c it seems like Moose is going downhill fast! I think he has been past his prime for a while now

I'll look forward to see how Hughes is going to do tonight, I like him

is there a site where I can sign up to have the scores texted to me? I can't deal with having to listen to Sterling and Waldman at work!

Hahah thats pretty good. Its true in NY everytime a team loses you get pissed. But if you track my history in posting about the Yanks I always have felt...Mussina is shot, and Matsui is not the same. You can't tell me you disagree. I'll say that 2 games in, 162 games in, post season, spring training. you name it. They both have looked like a mess for 2 years.

I'm not saying I necessarily I disagree. I just take it on a year-by-year basis with players and I need a lot more than two games for Matsui and one start for Mussina before getting ready to stick a fork in them.

    Matsui's last year: .285
    25 HR
    103 RBI
    100 R
and same # of BBs as Ks

I'll take those every year and be very happy

i have no idea when the last time the yankees successfully laid down a pair of sacrifice bunts in a tie game in the eighth inning, but it led to their second win of the season when scoring three runs or less. They didn't get that until June 29 of last year.

Nice to see them bunt. Even O'Neil brought it up last night on the broadcast how he was always against bunting when he was a player, but now he sees how many runs are probably lost because teams don't bunt and leave the ducks sitting on the pond.

As far as A-Rod not hitting with runners in scoring position. Apparently he hits well enough to be one of the top RBI guys every season. Also, lets apply it to the whole team. The Yanks as a team have left a lot of runners on base over the last few years. Clearly there have been issues with Alex in the post season, but no one can argue with what he has done during the regular season.

Good win last night. Hughes pitched great and the bullpen was stellar. And it looks like this Toronto team is going to be tough. They will have very good starting pitching if they can stay healthy.

    IT's called Girardi ball baby.
When also last year did Mo get his second save? End of April? Maybe early May

did you all see the girl that was attacked by a hawk at Fenway?
    and her name is:
    Alexa Rodriguez!

    That's just freaky and horrible.

As far as A-Rod not hitting with runners in scoring position. Apparently he hits well enough to be one of the top RBI guys every season. Also, lets apply it to the whole team. The Yanks as a team have left a lot of runners on base over the last few years. Clearly there have been issues with Alex in the post season, but no one can argue with what he has done during the regular season.

    .
    b/c he hits home runs
when he comes up with a chance to give the Yanks the lead, like last night
    bupkus
he struck out, and went 0 for 4

that's what I'm talking about, he doesn't come through in the clutch on a regular basis.

I liked it very much, very impressive and good to see Joe G playing for 1 run, playing small ball
