The only problem I'll have is if he opts out ,andthen they throw money at him. That will really piss me off.

Oh NO! Ugh. Mean, just mean.

I was happy to see the Sox fans get a World Series, it was such a historical, incredible moment. It was surreal, it was like you couldn't believe you were watching it. I saw the last out.
indeed. you just look at something like that as a baseball fan and you're like wow..just the way they did from the yankee series too.

3:25 pm As a Korean-American living in New York since September 2006, I had supported the Yankees in vain with my all heart. I may have to change my blazers with logos either “Diamondbacke” which are superior and better, or “Rockies” which score much better than Yankees.

  • I really hope he gets that 12 years, 300 million plus he's looking for, and it's Texas all over again. The team spent so much on him they can't afford any pitching and they suck, and he begs to get out of there after just 3 years again.

3:26 pm Steinbrennar will treat Joe Torre with the same shameful manner that he treated Yogi Berra and Buck Showalter and Bob Lemen. Steinbrenner won’t blame himself that he did not make a deal to bring Josh Beckett to the Yankees. The Red Sox made the deal and Beckett won the division and series for the Sox. It’s easier for Steinbrennar, like most bullies who inherited lots of money and always had it easy, to blame his subordinates and employees. So Steinbrenner will forget all the accomplishments that Joe has and discard him the way he does everybody else. After he ignominiously fired Yogi, he waited twenty years and then said Yogi could come to an old timers game and collect a plaque and a trophy. Expect Hank Steinbrenner to invite Jo to an old timers game in 2019. Hank Steinbrenner is like a man who was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.

I don't care how much Steinbrenner spends. I really have no other use for his money anyway. No matter how much you spend or don't spend things happen in the playoffs that you can't buy your way through. Bugs for instance. Fans interfering. Blown calls. Whatever. A-Rod had a great year. He didn't play any worse than any other Yankee in the playoffs. Why wouldn't you want him back next year? I say give him Steinbrenner's money and let him finish his career in NY. He'll hit 400 more home runs for us and sooner or later a World Series.

Fred Grubnik is the pseudonym Ashton Kutcher uses when he stays in hotel rooms while travelling/filming on location.

Plus the excellent spelling of names like Steinbrennar and Lemen is a dead give away.

  • Don Mattingly had some interesting things to say. One of the things he said was that whoever replaces Torre is like replacing John Wooden. Wooden left UCLA in 1975 and the program has won one title since and that took 20 years. Obviously professional sports are different than the colleges as one game doesn't decide the title but it is a valid point and something that people in their right mind should consider.

Torre's in-game managing might not be the greatest but his handling of people and treating them with respect went a long way to all these playoff berths. Mattingly would probably be the same way when the time comes but whoever it is if they don't make the playoffs in Year One then will Steinbrenner and anyone realize that hey, 12 straight seasons with the playoffs isn't too shabby?

thas my biggest concern. Praying we dont rever to the coaching carousel days of way back then. And if we dont make the playoffs the 1st yr under new coach what happens then? Does shit fall apart or do we stick to a plan?

Wow, nothing worse than the day after a season ender like this. How many days till pitchers and catchers report? :(

Gonna be the most interesting offseason I can remember. I believe Joe should be offered the chance to come back. If he doesn't return, it should be because he's ready to hang em up. As classy as he is and as much as he has done in leading this team to victory after victory during his tenure, he deserves that much.

So many decisions to make and they all wont be in Cashman's hands. Pettitte will decide if he wants to come back. I sure hope he does. Along with Jeter, Mo, and Posada he is the heart of this team. Hell, he probably shoulda started Game 1. Same thing with A-Rod. If he wants to play in NY then he will.

Next year's rotation: Wang, Pettitte, Hughes, Kenedy and that's where the question marks begin. The Yanks keep saying Joba will be a starter and I hope they stick to that. They have also said that he may start next year in AAA developing those other pitches more until he is ready to start at this level. Can they find a taker for Moose or will he be the defacto 5th starter until Joba is ready?

Speaking of bullpen..........assuming Mo doesn't retire, who out there will be dependable other than Viz? I think that this is the biggest offseason need right here. This also makes me a little scared that the organization may rethink their stance on Joba and give in to the temptation of making him the full time set up guy/future closer.

    Will they resign Abreu?

Can they get something for Damon?

They HAVE to resign Posada and Mo and talk Andy into returning.

So many questions, but I'll be looking forward to watching the youth on this team. Cano should continue to develop into the future batting champ that he will become. Andy Phillips having the opportunity to be a full time 1B. Seeing Hughes, Kennedy, and Joba develop into the nucleus of the next dynasty, and seeing Melky win a gold glove if he doesn't break something sliding into 1B.

Good luck to the Indians. I really like the way they are built for the playoffs. Good defense and pitching and they have clutch hitting and play fundamental baseball. That's how you win championships. That's how the Yanks used to win championships and that's how they will win them in the future.
