    Um, and yeah
    SO IS SCHILLING :)

If Schilling is still pitching in 5 years when he's 45 after retiring several times, I'm sure we'll be making fun of him too.

ah. I feel the same way about A-Rod.

Well then, sweetie, in New York, that just comes off as nasty and condescending. In NY we don't waste time with that, we just come right out and say how we feel, good, bad and indifferent :)

"His job is on the line," Steinbrenner told The Bergen Record. "I think we're paying him a lot of money. He's the highest-paid manager in baseball, so I don't think we'd take him back if we don't win this series."

as a red sox fan - or baseball fan in general - i can't even think what will happen when torre is no longer managing the yanks (come 2008 or 2009 or whenever). he has brought so much stability to the organization. my opinion is that a lot of the players like playing for him and he is one of the main reasons players have stuck around or go to ny.

i think it's kind of sad how if a manager doesn't win the ridiculous standards set upon him by the franchise, he'll lose his job. yes, he hasn't been able to take them the whole way, but when you've been in the playoffs that many times during his reign, he's a good manager.

oh, and isn't steinbrenner just sweet, saying such nice things about the umpire who wouldn't call the game off for his precious yankees - "The umpire was full of [expletive]," Steinbrenner told the paper. "He won't umpire our games anymore."

torre and arod....it was nice knowing ya
  • don't give up. It's Westbrook and Byrd the next 2 days. C'mon! They can easily club those 2 and make the Indian bullpen throw 8-10 innings going into Game 5. Then it'll be CC backed up by a short rest carmona. Very hittable.

No? What other team has been in the World Series twice this decade?

    St Louis Cardinals.

yea thats what I said and then I read this :(

Steinbrenner also predicted Alex Rodriguez will remain with the Yankees. A-Rod has the right to opt out of the final three years of his record $252 million, 10-year contract after the World Series and become a free agent.

"I think we'll re-sign him," Steinbrenner told the paper. "I think he's going to have a good run the rest of the (postseason). I think he realizes New York is the place to be, the place to play. A lot of this (postseason) is laying on his shoulders, you know, but I think he's up to it."

The 77-year-old Steinbrenner, who has appeared to be more frail in recent years, said he will make the decisions on Torre and Rodriguez.

"I have full control," Steinbrenner said.

    0 for what Arod???
this guy needs to just flat out win the series imo...3 hr and like 10 rbi's the rest of the series. Its the only way...the rest of the lineup waking up would be nice too.

honestly tho I think this is georges tactics of pissing people off like jeter to rally around torre so dont be surprised we win like 11-3 tday

Hopefully tonight will be the beginnings of something good for the Yanks. I'm tired of hearing all the whining about the bugs. This team isn't hitting and that is why they lost Friday, not because of mother nature. That said, maybe the Tribe needs to install some bug zappers at Jacobs Field next season. If the Yanks can't hit Westbrook tonight then they don't deserve to move on. Sabathia and Carmona were great. Between them and the lefties in the pen, the Yanks are sorely in need of some right handed bats.

That catch by Dougie M. on the Hafner line drive was crazy. All I could think about after was what would have happened if Giambi had been playing 1B at the time. Assuming he was positioned the same, I think he might be dead. Unbelievable reflexes to snag that.

Jeter passes Bernie tonight for the MLB record for consecutive postseason starts.

SOMEBODY please hit tonight. Go Yanks!

i like better the fact that we make the playoffs every yr...my poor roomate the mets fan has to watch me stress these last 2 games but at least unlike him watching the NL playoffs I dont say..."that should be my mets.. :( " esp. after the phillies do all that work to get swept..at least they made it there. lol
it makes no difference...if the yankees get knocked out I'll hear it from him.... and all my other yankee hating buddies...oh well

well if that's true he would've asked to be traded last year. he wants to prove he can win here. until he does that he's gonna stay.

    The Yankees are done.

0-Rod better not come to Boston. He's a cancer.
