    Good win. Joba's first save.

Nice to see Al Reyes not blow one in the Tampa/Boston game this time. I issued all kinds of shit at him while watching the end of the game yesterday.

In Pettitte and Wang, the Yanks probably now have more dependable starters than Boston who really can only count on Beckett at this point.

Any chance Joe leaves Farnsworth off the postseason roster? That guy is like a science experiment gone horribly wrong.

they should devise the kyle rules as in never pitch the guy unless you're up by 15 runs..

sadly, they have no one to replace him with. joba and mo are the only reliable RPs they have.

they have kyle rules (because of his back problems). they're virtually identical to the joba rules except that nobody cares because he sucks.

hopefully he's someone else's problem next year. he's among the reasons why the first three games have lasted 13 hours 23 minutes.

but i will say this for cashman, his deal to acquire jose molina is a very good and underated deal.

  • new york magazine is reporting that a-rod has agreed to a ten-year, $300 million contract with the chicago cubs. this (illegal) deal would also make him a partial owner of the team:

it's probably not true, but you never know with scott boras. i'm sure that any team with interest in a-rod has already submitted an illegal offer.

I can't see how that's true, especially since that's tampering and any potential owner that does that i'd think would be not be allowed to buy the cubs and another thing none of the guy's sources are quoted directly.

i've always liked jose molina. i think he's one of the best backup catchers in baseball. he could probably be a pretty good starter on many teams. they should definitely try to re-sign him. he's a great insurance policy in case posada starts to decline over the next few years.

that would be great if they could find a taker for farnsworth, even if they have to pay his salary. they don't need his dead weight taking up a roster spot that could just as easily go to one of their prospects.

molina is probably the best backup catcher they've had since joe girardi and the list of backups includes - sal fasano, wil nieves, kelly stinnett, john flaherty, chris widger, alberto castillo.

and i bet he can help with some of the advance scouting of the angels, especially with their pitching staff.

any team that signs a-rod is going to become the subject of a tampering investigation. that's a given. it's gonna be a question of whether or not the yankees can prove it more so than whether or not it actually happened.

regarding this specific story, one common theory is that boras started the rumor himself in order to drive up a-rod's price.

but you just never know with scott boras. he's a textbook scumbag.

the dodgers were advised to file tampering charges against the red sox for the nancy drew signing last year, but they didn't because they just wanted to get rid of the guy. i don't blame them.

its awesome that if we should finish in a tie with the redsawx ,
we get the division by virtue of season series edge .

  • win tomorrow and that puts the Yankees not one game away from a tie, but one game away from leading the division, as a result of the tiebreaker. therefore, you could almost say that if the Yanks win tomorrow, they will have virtually tied Boston.
  • These noname Bluejays are frustrating the hell outa me. Already 4-0.

Plus Yankees have lost the long ball. Hardly any homers lately.
A-Rod no homer since Kansas City!!!!!!!!!!
