yuck, what a terrible loss today. not that a .500 team could afford to go 2-4 in a week, but it especially is bad when the team you're chasing goes 6-0.

why did Joe leave Scott Proctor in to HIT with the go ahead run on base, when he had Mo in the bullpen and even Clemens looking like he was ready to go?!

    Ugh.

And what was the final tally of how many men they left on? I lost count! That bases loaded situation in the 11th was the worst.

they left 16 on and went 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

i didn't hate that move (the proctor batting move) as much as you. i'd think it was because only chris basak and wil nieves were on the bench. what joe should have done was let proctor bat and then bring in clemens or rivera because since proctor's spot in the order batted already, he wouldn't have to use a pinch hitter for a little while.

also, i don't know about you. but I thought wang should have finished the seventh.

I wasn't paying that close attention, I had just come in from food shopping! I'm still in Fla. But he should've let him get a CG in his last outing, that's for sure. I was thinking there was nobody left on the bench, but either of them had a better shot than Proctor did. I concur he should have lifted Proctor. Who was that kid they put in left field when they took out Matsui?

    that was kevin thompson.

    this answers the wang question:

Wang’s blister/fingernail problem resurfaced in the seventh inning and he was bleeding when he came out of the game. (from the journal news blog).

    UGH.
Why is Scott Proctor pitching in a tie game in the 9th?
We really don't have anybody else, do we?

Man oh man.... things look bad guys. The Sox lost, so what are we, still 10 back?

i like joe torre, class guy, good handler of egos and all that stuff. but how can he protect mariano rivera from work when he's pitched once in the last week. i know you save your closer sometimes for a tie game on the road because of the save situation but as soon as the first guy gets on, rivera should have entered the game.

    i love joe torre
where would this franchise have been without him the last decade.
oh, and who has to answer to this mess ? I would say Brian Cashman.
He gave Torre the tools to work with ( scott proctor ? garbage ! )

i styill find myself wondering why did this go down like it did with bernie williams.

we actually gavce johnny damon how many million ?

52 million. as mentioned in previous portions of this thread, here is cashman's recent track record

2005 - signed Carl Pavano, fell for the Carlapalooza tour by his agent.
2005 - gave oft-injured pitcher Jaret Wright three years. To the surprise of nobody he's hurt now even on the Orioles
2006 - Nothing says eighth inning relief like Kyle Farnsworth. He got three years despite not being so great for the Braves in the 2005 playoffs
2007 - Kei Igawa - 46 million for an unproven pitcher, who is in his 30s but had to be sent down to work on mechanics.

My personal favorite was Steve Trout.

The decisions that are made between now and the start of next season are gonna be very important. Is Cashman the guy to make those decisions? I don't know. I think he started moving in the right direction this past off season, but mistakes have been made. I would send him on his way. This team has underachieved big time and the players have to take the blame for that, but I don't think Cashman brought in the right mix of players. I think we need a few more guys with energy and fire. And as much as I love Torre and respect his ability to manage and run a team, I kinda wish he would just retire in the off season. I think it may be time to go another direction if for no other reason than to eliminate some of the complacency and to get this team and organization energized again.

Time for another of those 11 outa 12 streaks (11 wins that is)
