this is what i'm seeing from bobby abreu as he has batted .500 in his last 10 games. last month when he was slumping, he tended to wiggle the bat a lot before pitches. It was not as obvious as Sheffield's violent wiggle but it was there and to me it appeared to be a sign of overanixousness, which tends to come with losing. Now he's still moving in the batter's box but it's not as active and it's resulting in the Abreu who sees 40 pitches a game..

    i'll be there on sunday...

it'll be my first time at the stadium since way back on may 9th, when wil nieves got his historic first hit (and then decided that he wasn't gonna stop running until someone tagged him out).

    7-1, mid-fifth...

lol, poor nieves. i watched that one on tv, i felt so bad for him, but good for him at the same time for finally hitting a ball that didn't drop into a glove or end up at first base to throw him out.

Mussina had a few weapons working tonight, speciffically the curveball. He and Wil Nieves seem to work well together. Now that they've gone over .500, we can officially talk about them being contenders.

Looks like Selig is trying to back Giambi into a corner. He's threatening to suspend him if he doesn't talk to George Mitchell. I'm not sure if he can get away with that or not, but if it means Giambi being any less likely to play for the Yanks again this season then I'm down with it. This is a better team without him.

    9 straight!!

3.5 back in the Wild Card race

complete bullshit. bud selig is a cock. i'll dance a jig the day he dies.

word of warning: if you ever meet selig in person and have an opportunity to talk with him, wear a raincoat. the fucker can't get a full sentence out without spraying spit all over the place.

depending on what the rules are, it could hurt us a lot. under ordinary circumstances, a team cannot replace a suspended player on its roster. i don't know if it works like this for steroid suspensions, but if it does, it means that the yankees would have to play with a 24-man roster for 50 days. that would certainly cost us some games.

i'm not a big giambi fan myself, but that doesn't change the fact that suspending him would be a clear violation of the collective bargaining agreement. his so-called "confession" stems from steroid use that occurred in 2003 at the very latest, back when there was no steroid policy in place. the 10-day suspensions started in 2005 with the 50-day suspensions taking over in 2006.

to cite precedent, matt lawton was suspended for the first 10 days of the 2006 season. the 50-day penalty was already in place at this point, but it could not be enforced because the original violation occurred before the rule change. so there's no legal way that giambi's 2003 violation could possibly warrant any sort of suspension.

furthermore, if bud selig had the power to suspend giambi without a positive test, it would have happened several years ago when the issue of his steroid use was still relevant. the statute of limitations has long-since expired in this case.

in my opinion, giambi shouldn't say a single damn word to george mitchell. george mitchell can go fuck himself. if he wanted to talk to giambi, he should have done it two weeks ago when the yankees were at fenway. mitchell was there for that series, decked out in his red sox gear.

does anyone else find it odd that the nature of giambi's penalty will largely be based on the opinion a boston red sox front office employee?
