there's a reason why CB Bucknor was voted the worst umpire by the players in a 2003 Sports Illustrated Players Poll. One day, he's going to really tick off someone badly with that emphatic motion..

I never understood why Pavano was so sought after that year. He had one good year (a walk year of course). The poster boy for a run of bad decisions made by the Yanks. They are slowly but surely ridding themselves of those guys thanks to some good moves by the front office lately and in this case natural selection. Giambi may be next. I read something the other day about the Angels being interested in him and of course the Yanks expressing interest in trying to void his contract because of the steroids and amphetamines.

  • yeah, I just saw the other night that he had an 18 game hitting straek, and I thought it was just a week ago or so that he had a 20 game streak snapped.

The only people I can remember who applauded that deal were a couple Yankee homers. The logic of giving Pavano that contract was flawed to begin with since he was 29, just had his first good year(not counting seasons of less than 100 innings), and did it in a pitchers park.

I thought he would pitch in more games, but the level he has pitched at was predictable.
  • I'm a Yankee fan who was very much against the Pavano (and other NL East pitchers) signing... but I think what Smithnic means is that many other teams, not fans, wanted Pavano at the time. Remember Carl-A-Palooza? The Tigers, Red Sox and cardinals jump to mind as definate suitors, and there were others.

"before the Yankees batted in the bottom of the first, an inspirational scene from the movie "Rudy" was shown on the scoreboard. That clip is usually saved for the late innings, when they need a rally.

But it was the Angels who pulled off the comeback." -ESPN.com

    DESPERATE but so enjoyable

i mean seriously this team hasnt been relevant since 2000

and man did i want to choke the bitch "oh my god roger clemens is a new york yankee!" seriously cut her voice box out!

Hey Guys I'm still in Fla and I've been following the low-ligts on ESPN

Guys things look really bleak! They even booed Joe?!!

Are we totally screwed? Can we come back from 12 1/2 out? I mean, I like to think positive, but geesh.

And have you guys seen that 61* HBO movie? I just saw it for the 1st time (I don't have HBO at home).

It was really good! How did they re-create the old Yankee stadium?

I'm a Red Sox fan, but I enjoyed *61 when I saw it a few years ago.

Here's what Billy Crystal did to recreate Yankee Stadium:

Yankee Stadium scenes were shot at a re-dressed Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Michigan in August of 2000. Infield seats at the stadium were painted green, and a partial third deck and 1961 Bronx skyline were added digitally in post-production.

only one team has reached memorial day out by 10 games or more and won the division and that was the 2006 twins. odds of the division title are not so good now..

Went to Yankee Stadium for the first time yesterday. Figured I better do it once while I still could. The crowd was depleted even when the Yankees were winning. I couldn't give a shit either way how they do, but the fans could get into a little bit more, IMO.

Oh wow! COOL! Thanks so much for that info, I appreciate it.

Yeah things do not look well in Yankee world :(

    <sigh>
I won't give up hope though, you never know what could happen. Things could happen.
The Mets were like, how many games back when they came back in '86? We could be the Miracle 07 Yankees or something! I'll try to stay positive. I'm glad I'm not home to watch these games though. I'd be throwing things :(

Heres to not making the playoffs!
And being swept by the Angels!

GG Yankees...loser team with an extremely high payroll.

PS Derek Jeter is the most overrated defensive player in the game

The lineup has gone to sleep. If some of these guys don't man up, they will be in the same position Boston was last year when the playoffs started.........making tee times. 11 straight AL East crowns and 12 straight playoff appearances are on the verge of ending.
