My destiny right now is to work my regular shift, because I need money, because I need food and shelter, because I need them to survive, because surviving and reproduction is the only meaning to life.
I speculate that I will become a pro-poker player if I can overcome some minor patience problems I have. I may even be destined to play with in the big time. I'm not sure yet, it could just be a dead end.
I'm relatively certain I'm going to die pretty young though, and I'll probably be alone when I do. I don't see me getting into a serious relationship any time in the near future. But there may be some determinents I'm overlooking.
There is much more to life then surviving...there is thriving too!
Do you let your "dying young & alone" vision prevent you from planning for the long term?
You vs Phil Helmuth at the final table would be very interesting!
and the other side would argue that belief, or faith, is all you need. there is something both inspirational and ignorant at the same time about that approach.
life, and the universe, are so complex that i couldn;t begin to comprehend a theory on any of it. i think its just as likely we're some other planet's ant farm as any other theory really.
but to start with the presumption that our lives are meaningless is not what people want to hear.
so for me, peace and love are about the best gift i can give to this planet.
That's where it gets really stupid though. People want freedom, or so they think, but when they have to choose out of 6.5 million home stereo systems they are stressed right out. Now, if they only had cheap, moderate and expensive, they would choose almost instantly and probably never regret the decision.
We've over complicated our lives to give us a false sense of freedom. When in reality, we are not free, and happiness comes with not having to choose to a certain degree.
We naturally determine causes and effects, we are wired from birth to analyze, determine and make decisions, well before any sense of a soul is present. That idea of a soul is implanted by human models we encounter. They provide a solution to a problem of deliberation, but that just opens a whole other can of worms that can't be answered. Thus people settle in on "Faith" is all you need.
All you really need is ignorance and lack of the need to make choices. That should make anyone happy, but we've conditioned ourselves to the opposite.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire
I would have to say, I admire your goals not to mention ethics. Remember, you dont need money to live, only to survive. Destiny is a whole different entity. I can tell, karma, is a truth to life. Karma is not only what comes around goes around. Its the satisfaction of knowing that what you are doing is right, or helpful etc. Trust me on this one. Its ok to be young, but learn along the way. As for love, that is truly unpredictable. That is the most beautiful mystery to life.
Well, I think Karma is in direct contrast to Destiny, but buddhist manage to stuff 'em both together, right?
I think love is totally predictable, however, it's been undermined by our freedom of choice, personal biases, doubt and so on. If we learned to just let nature do it's thing in that regard, love would be more abundant.
I asked a girl where she lived and she assumed I wanted to stalk her. I immediately terminated communications with her. I didn't want to deal with that shit. But ultimately we were both wrong to assume what we did and we both had determinents causing us to feel that way. Past experiences.

what is "being a man"? Canned hunts, having your woman cleaning and cooking, drinking beer and watching football?
What's being a man to you? I dont believe I intimated any of those things you asked of me. Is it just me or do some people here seem incapable of coherent reading and completely lacking of reading comprehension skills?

Yea, I have a number of long term goals, well into my death. If I'm alive at age 1,000 I'll still have things to do, but much longer than that and I'll be getting bored of life.
I'd love to take on the Helmuth or any of those guys. I may or may not have a tell, but I highly doubt it. When I play I'm totally stone faced, hell I'm pretty much always stone faced. It takes a lot to crack a smile out of me. Sometimes I'm really smiley, but then I can't get down.
Last night I placed 2nd out of 1000 entries in an online tournament. I was at stage 4 of 8 for the WPT satellite tourny, but I screwed up big this morning and fell back to the entry level 1. I have 3 months to win stage 8 and get the championship package to attend the WPT in Vegas.

What about fathers who are just plain uninterested? And they are out there. Clearly you aren't one of them but plenty of men father children and then just distance them selves both physically and emotionally. Both male and female children are suffering from this little torture everyday. Sometimes Dads can even be in the house and be completely cut off from their kids.
Well, just because someone can become a parent, doesnt mean they should.

I actually only played a few times before last week and I had no stratagy at all. I didn't even know the proper terminology or procedure for game play.

Al was the man. My favorite though was the father from Good Times, James Evans. Now that man could but the fear of God into his kids.

Well said bryanfury!
*~You're IT Bert!~*
Hold on to the thread
The currents will shift
Have you ever played at a live table?
Nah, I play with family, but that's about it.
I actually only played a few times before last week and I had no stratagy at all. I didn't even know the proper terminology or procedure for game play.
