Throwing acid on impoverished people and beating them for just being alive...

way to go....

"Israeli settlers sprayed chemicals on a group of Palestinian farmers while attacking them in the Qalqilia area of the northern West Bank on Monday, human rights fieldworkers reported.

According to a report compiled by the International Women's Peace Service (IWPS), five settlers, two of them riding horses, from an outpost called Havat Gilad approached two farmers while they were working on their land in the village of Immatin.

As the settlers started surrounding the two Palestinian farmers, they phoned their family for help. In the meantime, an additional fifteen Palestinians from Far'ata who had been working in their land nearby rushed to the aid of the other farmers.

The farmers told IWPS that the settlers threw stones at the Palestinians, threatened to beat them, and set small fires on the hillside. Approximately 15 more masked settlers joined them.

Fifteen Israeli soldiers arrived, looking on while the settlers continued their assault, the farmers said.

When a 54-year-old Palestinian farmer approached the soldiers, a settler came between the soldier and the Palestinian and sprayed the Palestinian with an unknown chemical substance on his arms, hands and eyes, causing a burning sensation and loss of vision.

When the farmer's 22-year-old-son attempted to protect his father, the settler sprayed his arms and hands with the same unknown substance.

According to the victims, the soldiers did nothing to stop the settlers from assaulting them, instead shooting tear gas and rubber bullets at the Palestinians. A 34-year-old Palestinian was shot with a rubber bullet at the top of his thigh from approximately thirty meters away. After this, a soldier threw a tear gas bomb directly in front of him.

The farmers reported that the fires, some started by the settlers and others caused by the heat of the teargas canisters, destroyed a total of 60 olive trees before Palestinian firemen could put them out.

After the confrontation had ended, the injured Palestinians were treated at a local clinic.

Both Palestinian men who had been sprayed with the unknown chemical substance reported that the burning sensations caused by the spray had not subsided the following day."

This is terrible, but apparently peace can't happen until the Palestinians stop what they're doing (farming?) and meet the Israelis for peace (give up more land/freedom).

am I right or am I right?

According to the glossed over mainstream media TV crowd?

Palestine already doesn't even exist for them.

  • my "favorite" part of this sick shit is the fact that the 15 israelis who show up are wearing masks.

    WTF for !??!
What are the "palestinians" gonna do, call the cops and give a description?
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

I wonder how it is that Israeli believe treating people that way, will result in a positive and productive response.

Almost seems like these Israelies want to continue to infuriate the Palestinians. They are purposely provocative and arrogant in their instigation.

as long as some palestinian cracks and uses a bulldozer on some people every couple of weeks or a bomb goes off in a cafe - people will justify what israel does on a daily basis ... it's the sad and tragic truth ...

    This is true.
Most people remember the first suicide bombing in 1994, but they don't remember what triggered it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_of_the_Patriarchs_massacre
  • Just want to point out the article comes from an Arabic source.

Not saying it didn't happen but if you look at the source headline about an Occupied Iraq you know this is an Anti-American/Anti-Israel publication.

I would like to see different sources on this incident.

Even so the point is that minor incidents like two farmers going to the hospital for pepper spray will never be national news. These incidents happen in the US and go unreported.

However if the Palestinians respond with a suicide attack or a market killing then that will be national news, and there message will be lost. Both sides will need to lay down there arms to truly reach peace. Picking sides as to who's right and wrong doesn't accomplish anything and they violence will keep going in the region.

And some people don't think anything should trigger a suicide bombing killing civilians...what's that about 2 wrongs?

It is far easier to say...I understand that...I understand (to some degree) the frustration, etc...

I know and it will accomplish nothing. :)

I swear people are more concerned with being right then offering compromises and solutions.

This is true of both Palestinians and Israelis as well as there supporters.

Just because something is reported in the media, doesn't make it true. Every media (no matter how credible or not), has bias. Still doesn't justify the action.

    I don't pick sides.

I simply see, that, at this juncture both sides are completely out of their minds with all the accumulated hate and outrage. So completly over the edge that neither side shows any rational behavior or intention of actually working towards peace and an end to all this disrepsect, violence, murder and destruction.

Our government routinely speaks and acts in a manner that only supports Israel and portrays their plight as one of poor victims. I can't remember when this administration or when the last time any US administration took Israel to task for their actions/behavior and put the pressure on them to be accountable for their violence and destruction. Rather than making excuses, justifications and arguments for it.

Which is just another reason why America is viewed and percieved in such a hateful light.

I also find it dispicable that Israel behaves in such a brazen, arrogant manner because our government is always standing proudly behind it.

I suspect Israel would be less inclined to thumb their noses at International Law and their neighbors; if the US wasn't so biased in their support.

Anyone with a licks worth of common sense and objectivity can see that both sides are to blame for this neverending violence/destruction.

Now only if we could get an administration in office that has a licks worth.

Both sides are to blame. The solution begins by loosening the death grip held firmly in place by the upper hand.

How can there be balance when there is clearly an unbalance is my take...

Just because you don't agree with me doesn't make your opinion any more correct.

And no it didn't say they were Pepper Sprayed but it was a fair comparison as they were sprayed in the eyes that caused a burning sensation...like pepper spray.

It's such a regular and documented occurrence in that region that's why.

    I agree.

The solution has to begin, there.

The Palestinians are struggling hour-to-hour, meal-to-meal......day-today just to meet basic needs. Israel keeps destroying anything related to their basic resources.

It has to begin with Israel giving Palestine back their resources.

I'm sure everyone is aware that Palestinians are not welcome in other Arab countries...right...?

I just share this to add to the discussion...everyone says Israel this and Palestine that...I believe both sides want this conflict and both are to blame, but...I'd be will to bet Palestine would be better of if their neighbors would be more supportive...

In Lebanon they are not allowed to own property or have access to healthcare...

Jordan has restricted entry of Palestinians from the West Bank into its territory...

Hundreds of Palestinians were evicted from their homes by Iraqi landlords following the fall of Saddam Hussein

    Just something to think about....

Yes, this is true, and I agree with you. The surrounding Arab countries have not been helpful. But, you know, you still have to go to the root of the problem. Why would they need help in the first place??
