I've been really underwhelmed by Obama tonight. I was hoping for a much stronger perfromance out of him.

I was hoping for a stronger stance tonight also but I don't think it's coming. McCain is the aggressor and needs to be and i gather obama is playing off of that aggression.

Maybe some fireworks if things get personal. McCain is holding is own but he knows he has to be tonight.

    Peace

works in all other westernized countries....I'll take germany's healthcare over ours any day...

And what about Germany's tax rate?

    In Euro (single)
    0 Up to 7,664
    15% 7,665-52,152
    42% 52,153-250,000
    45% 250,001 and over

the 52K mark is a big jump in taxes, and cost of living is a lot higher there as well.

And their health care is not all inclusive.

    USA Tax in Dollar (single)
    10% $0 – $8,025
    15% $8,026 – $32,550
    25% $32,551 – $78,850
    28% $78,851 – $164,550
    33% $164,551 – $357,700
    35% $357,701+

    Here is my math.....

    42% of 60K=25K vs 25% of 60K=15K.

I don't know about you, but I don't have an extra 10,000$ to give to the government, even if it means I get the best healthcare possible.

Please correct my math or my thinking if I'm wrong, this was some quick figuring. I won't get pissy if you have a good point.

yeah, Obama with the lead widening, clearly on defense ...

McCain didn't go after Ayers, Wright ...

Obama didn't need to do anytihng but stay on message ... as stated, a draw is a win at this point.

nothing left now but to flip over to Fox and hear Hannity and Morris declare McCain the overwhelming winner.

McCain didn't do anything to take votes from Obama IMO

I'd like to hear what Fox News and MSNBC thinks about this debate?

A draw both comfortable in what they had to say. Much different than the VP debate.

Agreed. He needed to whip up on Obama and I don't think he did it. A draw is a loss for him.

  • That was incredible underwhelming. From the tone of it alone, you would never know the country was on the verge of going broke, entangled in two wars, and practically tearing itself apart along the lines of Democrat and Republican in the last decade.

    Strange. Very strange.

I began uncertain of whether or not my support would end up before beginning to favor Obama.

After tonight, I really think I've lost any real enthusiasm I had for Obama, but not because of McCain's keen prowess as a debater--far from it.

Both candidates were just incredibly underwhelming tonight.
  • Well, that was a waste of 90 minutes. Good thing there's one more debate for these two to go through the motions during.

I didn't like how McCain tried to joke about too much. Maybe a stress release.

Oh please. Maybe they'll stop if we quit aiding Israel's continual human rights violations. This goverment has caused more terror domestically and internationally than Al Quida ever could on it's own.

I mean the videos of them cutting their own people's heads off, I'm not even considering westerners yet. Is the USA and Isreal really worse then them? We are talking about Afghanistan and Iraq here, right?

i agree with this...i was hoping to get a more hard hitting debate, where they really addressed the issues. I was hoping to feel like one would be a clear leader, not like I wanted to fall asleep.

a bit disappointed with the debate tonight.

I did not think that they answered the questions- they just ran around the questions. Reiterating things that they have said before- nothing really new- and I was expecting to hear more- especially with how the markets are now.

Overall- I think Obama squeaked out McCain. But not happy with either.

But McCain's pacing drove me crazy.

I think that calling that debate a town hall format debate shows how pitiful our politics are
