You do realise that "The United States is the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not have a universal health care system" right? The US is waaaaaaay behind the curve on this. The benefits far out-weigh the cons and guess what, these systems do work.
Either way, it's a meaningless argument; Obama's policy isn't free-government run health care; he's creating an affordable health care program while keeping private programs. But they seem to define that as "socialism." Ah, well.
Watching people's heads getting cut off on Youtube will make you ill as well. Maybe they will stop if we give them a big hug?
Oh please. Maybe they'll stop if we quit aiding Israel's continual human rights violations. This goverment has caused more terror domestically and internationally than Al Quida ever could on it's own.
OK, this thing just got a lot better when the candidates responded to each other. Hopefully they'll highjack this lame format. When they respond it gives them a chance to call the other guy on bullshit.

I'll go out on a limb and call this one of the worst days in the history of this country. At least in my lifetime. The economy is crumbling, the country is literally going bankrupt and these guys both gave me ZERO reason to believe anything might change. This kind of reminds me of the debate in 2004 when W couldn't admit one mistake from his first 4 years. Stop trying to dance around the fact that this country is in severe trouble. Start coming up with some common sense solutions. I've never felt so hopeless to be an American as today. These guys remind me of a sorry pitcher who's afraid to throw anything in the strike zone. They keep trying to hit the corners but they're missing and now the bases are loaded with no outs. Time to make a pitching change, oh wait these are the only two arms we've got, were screwed.
The benefits far out-weigh the cons and guess what, these systems do work.
No, they don't. Canada and Britain, for example, can barely pay for their systems. They are extremely behind the United States as far as medical research and adopting new treatments for cancer and other conditions because they can't even afford it. There are ridiculous waiting periods for even the most basic medical procedures, like pulling teeth, let alone a heart transplant which requires up to 17 months wait. They have people wasting away for days in Emergency rooms without getting treatment.
What incentive does a person have to go to medical school to work their asses off for 10 years, paying $50,000 and up for tuition, only to come out, work for the government, and make a measly salary. Why do these people not deserve the money they earn by putting in the work required? They wouldn't be able to practice privately. it would spell the end of not only quality medical treatment in America, but the end of any kind of medical research. Cancer research doesn't come from Canada, or the UK, or Cuba. It comes from America, through the work of PRIVATE ENTERPRISES.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

I just get these uneasy feeeling that if McCain gets into office, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Venzuela ... these countries are all going to poke him with a stick until he flips and starts world war 3 ... and everyone is against us.

Doesn't seem like we agree with too many things that have come up on this board, but that argument does resonate. I guess my take on it would be that we need to better fund the citizenship's ability to afford health care while still maintaining the benefits of higher pay for those willing to train for as many as ten years to succeed and excel in the medical profession.
Of course, if I had the answer on how to actually do that, I would be on stage tonight...avoiding questions and lying through my teeth.
Does anyone find it disingenuous to say, "If Iran gets nuclear weapons, all the other mid-eastern countries will too."
You think the reason these nations don't have them is because they don't want them? What? Is Iran going to sell their secret to what would be dominance over the region? Where is the reasoning?
That said, I do not want Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. In fact, we need to eighty-six that shit world-wide.

Same way I feel.
If that's the case (I just started watching), I imagine it will be good for Obama and not McCain. Any draw at this point is a loss for McCain.
"Vote for me because I'm the only one who knows how to get Bin Lauden..."
Yeah I love this and do not understand why Obama doesn't call him out on it. It's such an outlandish claim.
