You do realise that "The United States is the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not have a universal health care system" right? The US is waaaaaaay behind the curve on this. The benefits far out-weigh the cons and guess what, these systems do work.

I know, USSR, China, Vietnam, North Korea, Loas, Cuba.......great examples of quality of life. Even Europe's governments aren't 100% socialist. I'm sorry, I don't want to pay for your doctor. I don't want to pay for anyones bills but mine, I have that right. If People are not going to evenly contribute to the pot, then why do I have to work harder for someone else to enjoy my tax money more then they already are?

some chick on Fox just DRILLED McCain for proposing the $300b housing buy back ... "the free market conservative movement just keeled over and sank to the bottom of the ocean" with McCains plan ... "One of my friends is stating he wished he bought a bigger house" ... ha ha

i agree with this...i was hoping to get a more hard hitting debate, where they really addressed the issues. I was hoping to feel like one would be a clear leader, not like I wanted to fall asleep.

I agree with ya here, I was yawning quite. I'm glad thr Red Sox weren't on tonight.

  • I think that calling that debate a town hall format debate shows how pitiful our politics are

    +1

Really, very little to add to that. I'm sure of the six-million questions submitted, that some of them must have been frank and explicit questions regarding serious issues. On the other hand, we got pre-sorted and pre-determined questions that lacked any real immediacy to them.

Seems like having the audience there was just to give the illusion that the candidates were speaking directly to the people, instead of directly off of their pre-written notes.

    Lame.

I don't think that has the calming effect you intended.

If anything, it had quite the opposite, for me anyways.

edit: either point. i'm a yankees fan. :(

Discussing a bill pushed by Bush and Cheney, he said something like, "I bet you'll be never guess who voted for it [points], 'that one,' I voted against it."

I wasn't trying to calm, I firmly beleive too many Americans don't pay attention, and sadly, politicians gear their message to them ... agian, we'll get a 60% turn out ... IF WE'RE LUCKY.

He looked very stiff and I did not feel that he was connecting.

Also - he was belittling Obama, and going over how Obama did not have experience on foreign affairs. Most of the presidents that we have had- started out with little to no experience-

and McCain should leave off the experience talk- especially with Palin-

I'm falling for T Boone Pickets, lol

He's on my tv more than anyone else...ever.

actually impressed with how many times his ad's run. Even though he will gain financially for following his plan, I think he's doing a good job getting peoples attention and talking. Al Gore and others need to aspire to be in the public eye as much

Obama should have busted Johnbo out on how he lead his republican congress members to adding 100 Billion + in pork to get them to vote for the rescue package.

i'm ashamed that this is the 2nd to last debate and it turned out this way.... this format sucked and didn't allow the 2 of them to interact enough so we could get a real judge of character...instead we have to rely on comments like "my friend" and bad jokes. I consider myself an Obama supporter, but NEITHER seemed Presidential tonight IMO. :(

We could have called him, since he did not want to go to DC unless he was needed.

Mathews on NBC is comparing smiles. That is some hard political analysis.

This debate was pointless. If it did anything, it pointed out how boring and out of touch McCain really is.

Funny, I switched from that (in disgust at how stupid it was) to Fox News, where they are discussing how the "that one" comment was a stunning, awesome blow that the they expect the GOP to pick up and run with.

The media sucks about as hard as this debate did.

I think even if you disagree about supporting Obama or McCain, we can all agree on is that these news channels suck.

That would be a very, very, very stupid idea. I'm only halfway through so far, but that's been by far McCain's worst moment.
