Nu ah, should be the other way around. Nature is life, time is death.

Little red riding hood, and you know the big bad wolf has to be a dude.

Come to think of it, pretty much all the bad people in fairy tales are men, and the good people are women and children. Fuck!
I could argue quite a bit with that last statement, but I won't, because the topic is dress codes in Iran. Let's not get too far off base, shall we? Start another thread if you want to talk about the poor persecuted males.

I don't know about you, but I was under the oppresive regime of my mother for the first 16 years of my life.

I was under my mother's loving guidance :)

Not that I appreciated it at the time, mind you ... I was a real brat.

Right, cause you were a girl. My sister was 'lovingly guided' as well. To hate men that is.

I watched a lot of Married with Children, it was part of the indoctrination.

ahnimus, you seem to have a lot of issues with women.

you want to swtich mother nature/father time, why? is it so difficult for you that one good concept is associated with women? why is it so hard for you to give us that one smidge of 'power' when our rights are trampled on in EVERY other aspect of our lives.

and why does every thread about women have to convert to a rape thread you ask? well, since the age of 12, i, along with probably every other woman on this board was told to be careful about strangers, not only because of kidnapping like my brother was told about, but because of rape. every time i went to a party in high school my mom begged me to get someone to walk me home, not because i'm some weak feable girl, but because she was so afraid that i would get caught by suprise and raped (this was not a silly over-protective mothering thing, as there were several occasions that i ended up running home away from creepy men that were following me either on foot or in their car). i've had several freinds be sexually assaulted, and 2 were raped. this is something that all women have had to deal with, so please excuse us if we discuss something that is so embedded within our female culture, we didn't mean to offend you.

I am not exactly a hardcore feminist or anything, but this post is sensible and difficult to challenge. Almost every woman I know and love can relate to this sort of experience, so there's got to be something to it.

I had a boyfriend years ago that didn't believe the stories I would tell him about being harrassed in public ... he seemed to think I was making them up to make him jealous or something  One night I wanted to walk to the store that was 6 or 7 blocks away, so I asked him to follow me, about a half-block behind, just to show him ... on a nice summer evening, I knew there'd be plenty of idiots honking and hollering out windows. We were about halfway there when he caught up to me and said "Jeez, I had no idea! I don't know how you work up the nerve to leave the house!" Of course, after that HE decided that he didn't want me to leave the house alone, so he didn't last long as a boyfriend, but the point is that I don't think most men have any idea how big of an issue this is in the lives of women. Every single one of those honking, hollering idiots is a threat, because you never know if this is the car that's going to pull up next to you, or pull into a driveway and block your path.

My wife has told me similar stories ... I am not exactly a threatening looking guy or anything, but when its the two of us out, men barely spare her a glance. When she's by herself, its nothing but gawking at her chest ... Guys will stroll up and start conversations. Most of them are harmless, but as a woman you'd never know for sure. Its certainly an experience most men cannot relate to.

Hahaha ... my step-sister caused a traffic accident once, just standing on a corner waiting for a light to change. When the cop questioned that guy as to what the hell he thought he was doing, he apologized, admitted it was all his fault, said it was because he was staring at the blonde.

    Was that you?!!?!

ugg, i hate those guys. thankfully i rarely have to deal with them, the guys in toronto generally have quite good manners. i did however do a semester in london, ontario, it's one of those towns where nobody walks anywhere, there are barely sidewalks anywhere, and there's a real hawaiian shirt/beer type culture. i, along with 2 of my girl freinds are city kids, and didn't understand the concept of driving to the grocery store, so we walked, along the side of the non-sidewalked 4 lane road, on the way back we were carrying tons of stuff (as you usually do from the grocery store), and every idiot guy honked at us. i wondered what the purpose was, did they think that i would toss down the groceries, chase them down, and beg them to teach me the mysteries of sex? at least they could have been gentlemen and offered us a ride with all our groceries :D

Seriously though I read this thread and yet I am called a nutter to say that women are mistreated in other countries and yet here is a PERFECT example  of what I had meant.. anywho you can't make people see what they don't want to see. Mind you yes men are also targeted by these vice police.. jaysus. I can't even wrap my mind around it ( really though should be no surprise that my small little woman brain can't grasp that  ) Misogyny is alive and well, folks.

I live in London and I walk everywhere. I saw a super hot woman today and looked her and then quickly looked away as she looked at me, and I continued on my way silently.

So, not every guy in London is as you say. Just the beer-drinking hawaiin shirt type guys in their cars.

I dunno... If I never got to see any part of a woman's body in public and one day got a brief glimpse of say, a naked ankle (or a little bit more ) it would probably be a huge turn on and cause me to think impure thoughts... kinda like all the upskirt voyeur pay sites that turn a buck.

Sure they might need to loosen up a little more to our standards (or do they)?

The true irony is that women interested in dating me soon become disgusted and extract themselves from my life. Women that are forced into my life by some aqcuantance with a family member, find me to be a great person and they try to get me hooked-up with their friends, but their friends flee in fear.

OMG that was TOO funny ;) I have been to London as I have a good friend doing her residency at UWO and nobody ever honked at me :o:p but I did have some great Thai food :) I live in a small town and there are like two streets I would probably never walk down simply because people would be yelling and honking or asking if I fell from heaven blah blah blah..
