There was a girl in the tenclub queue in Copenhagen who would talk to people in the queue and as she was talking would put herself in the line with them, then slowly she would talk to them less and less and start talking to the people in front. She did this for quite a while until she got to us and we didn't talk to her.
We saw her again in Nijmegen trying to do the same thing. But she waited a little longer, just until the line was moved before we got let in. She kept trying to talk her way in front of people. Stoopid girl!
There are lots of people out there like that.. unfortunately it seems to be a higher percentage of girls who do that too. I've seen it tons of times..
And to clarify.. those people are NOT the people with low 10C numbers!
I'm all for seniority. I joined in 2003 and am 316xxx I believe.
However, probably the only time I would be for a lottery is if the band is planning on retiring. They don't tell anyone, the last tour is all lottery to give the fans who support them a shot (keeps out the quick newcomer members who will want a shot at getting great tickets then selling them for $ etc.). Obviously there will STILL be people complaining about something, but tough shit.. lol

I like that idea. But, what if PJ is like Ed's idol the Who and retires every few years ... lol
Maybe I should have mentioned that while I do travel to many shows and seem to always sit in the front rows I also have a significant other who does not like to travel so I often take someone who has never seen PJ, or has been stuck in the back rows or upper deck. I have also been known to go into a show and go to the top rows and find someone who appears to be a serious fan and give them my extra ticket. I do this with absolutely no expectation of any ball sucking..maybe a beer or 2 but no sucking of the balls.
Sorry to have disappointed you.
By the way....you never know who you should be nice to since you never know who might be a longtime tenclub member with a very low number who also happens to live in Boulder!!
Thats pretty awesome. I think if I had front rows all the time I'd start doing that... go see a few shows in the front, and give away tickets.. share the love with other people

seriously.
it's sad that some seem to get up in arms whenever this topic is even discussed....even politely. it's *just* a discussion amongst board members, we have NO say...so why worry? and....IF the 10c decided to 'try something out'...would be their choice/perogative in any case.
i know many, many truly AWESOME people with uber-low 10c #s....and sure, i've met my fair share of elitist too. so what?
i say, why CAN'T seniority continue to exist......ALONG with one random lottery row per show? ONE ROW....be it fifth row...tenth row....whatever. seniority before that row, seniority after it....and just a lucky shot for say 50 members(if a row holds 100 people depending on the venue) to have a SHOT of being *close*.....? is that such a travesty to consider giving up one ROW to CHANCE? just sayin'.......:D
bottomline, it isn't up to us...but i find it disappointing when some come on and piss on others' dreams, joys....nothing wrong with hope. seniority is a good thing, overall i think...reward all who have loved/supported the band so long. however, i also don't think it is *always* a *right* to have ALL the BEST seats, at EVERY show...so i think it's cool when pj/10c mix it up...be it a GA show, a non-seniorty show...a 'mix-up'...whatever. no matter what, i like discussing it.

be nice to me because i have a good 10# number????
give me a fucking break....hehehehehehehe
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
For starters, I don't think the seniority thing is going away so fast. I have a decent number (180k), but never in the first 20 rows (except Grand Rapids). Once you're at a certain point on the floor, you're better off side stage anyway. That being said, I don't think they should do away with seniority, but if they ever did, I can't imagine they go cold turkey on it. I would suggest they go back to the block system....randomly put tickets in the envelopes (by a certain block) so that we don't have to stand in line all day. That doesn't get rid of seniority and it mixes things up in all the sections.
I have been a member for 15 years and I think it is has always been a worthwhile investment to pay the $10 then $15 and now $20 a year for membership in order to retain my very low number membership seniority.
If they ever change to a non-seniority system I will give up my membership but will have many years and many shows in the first 3 rows to have in my memory banks.
I will still go to shows but I won't travel so much and I won't be as interested in going as I would be with an almost 100% gaurantee of being in the first 3 rows.
speaking as someone who sat front row on the floor, 4 seats off center, for the Grand Rapids/06 show i can tell you the 10C ticket incident there was NOT the result of the 10C "messing up". on the band's REQUEST, 10C re-allocated tickets to shuffle-out the same faces they'd seen at EVERY prior show up front in order to shuffle-in some fresh faces and a fresh vibe to the show,...
the minute I heard about what happened there, I had NO doubt it wasn't accidental.
I think a lottery ELEMENT will happen soon..not completely rid of seniority, but introduce some new blood alongside.
still, best chances of front row for higher numbers are GA shows, I should know
GA wouldn't remove the 'usual faces' element. What it would do is eliminate the under 20xxx'ers and totally replace that with a bunch of travelling nuts who'll wait for 15 hours in the car park, provided they get there the day before after the show at the last town

I'd do it too, but only if drinking openly for those 15 hours in the queue won't get me into any trouble. I'm more the 6 hour wait type, and only if there's drinks to be had at that.
It's interesting that the ones that are so resistant to change have such a short memory.
It wasn't all that long ago that you could only buy tickets to one show, right? No one really minded a change to the multi show format like now. What if 10C decided to go back to tickets for one show per tour/leg? The low #s would still get their front row, but they'd have to pick the show more carefully. Their seniority is still respected but not "abused". Everyone's seats would be better as a whole.
I guess people are happy for change but only if it works in their favour.
I only have an average number but because I live in NZ I hardly get to use it (hint, hint, PJ! It's been 10 years in a couple of weeks! Show us some love!). At least when I do use it (in Australia for example) I get better seats than I'd get in the States. We get a worse deal over here, though. I think in 03 you only got tickets to one show, in 06 you could only get fanclub tickets to the first show in each city (which worked out well for me because I got front row for probably the only time to one of the non-fanclub shows).
I think the system mostly works well, but a change every now and then does one good, doesn't it?

Ahhh, a New Zealander eh? How about them Flight of the Conchords huh? "Your apple pile is in the corner with the dogs New Zealandy" Anybody? Great show.

exactly!
definitely the 'same faces' up front over and over....and if one wanted to argue, didn't always happen all *fair* either. some waiting all day, only to have someone a bit further up have 'friends' arrive later and still manage to get in the front of the queue...and/or once in the venue, had a *spot* saved for them in a primo location.
so it really does go both ways. do you want to reserve long-term loyalty...and/or someone with the time/means to wait around all day....or a little of both...or something entirely different? there are pros/cons to each of these scenarios.
face it, life is not meant/designed to be *fair*...you can't make EVERYone happy, and honestly, it's not pjs, nor 10cs job to do that in any case. we ALL knew what we were getting when we joined, if that wasn't *enough*...well, tis our choice to accept or decline. but i still enjoy wishing/imagining some changes....or just a wee little tweak anyway.

bazzer.........EXCELLENT points! very, very true! there once upon a time was NO 'seniority'...then one show per tour...block seating....etc. life IS change. so is pj/10c. memberships also were about $5 a pop in the early days too. how much does say the equivilent of maybe $50 do you expect to *buy* you? hahaha.
Granted, I haven't been to as many shows as others here but I've never been to a show where dozens, literrally dozens of 10c fans didn't have an extra ticket and looking to bring in someone to a show. My brother went to four Canadian shows not having a single ticket. His worse seat was row 8. If you have a higher number, look to move up through an extra ticket, that's the best I can recommend.

Definitely.. our group of friends share/bump ticketing, and even cooler is that there are *always* people at the pre-parties who have extras/need an extra and usually within the first 20 rows... it happened so often we ended up making a sign up sheet for them
Honestly, I don't get the big deal with front row. It's overrated. I'd rather be 30 rows back near the middle. I think you get a better feel for the evening that way. I mean, I'd rather be able to see people going nuts around me, hear EVERYONE, and just enjoy the whole ordeal. Not to mention, I really don't care to see Eddie's nose hairs
On second thought, I dig nose hair, someone hook me up with some front row seats!

sooooooo ......
what I think the issue is , especially for the vancouver show is that the low numbers are centralized ..... and I bet lots on the west coast .......
Travel a lil' even with high numbers and you will get good seats .....
But really I wouldnt have a hope in hell in vancouver in a small venue to get good tickets ...
Props to those with good numbers......
But I thank 10c for the chance to get "good " seats in vancouver ....
