when i went to the bridge shows in 2003...i was using the hotels computer to try to get tickets to the santa barbara show off ebay....i meet a girl in the hotel also on another computer doing the exact same thing.....she strikes up a conversation with me and asks "WHATS YOUR 10CLUB #?????"....
so i tell her my # and her reaction was priceless....
she says to me in such a condescending elitist piece of shit fucking attitude....."oh...well im # (whatever)...and i ALWAYS sit right in front of Eddie".......and she walks away....
my girlfriend and i instantly start laughing are fucking ass off.....
and sad to say....
she isnt the only elitist fan club member i have met here......
I have been a member for 15 years and I think it is has always been a worthwhile investment to pay the $10 then $15 and now $20 a year for membership in order to retain my very low number membership seniority.
If they ever change to a non-seniority system I will give up my membership but will have many years and many shows in the first 3 rows to have in my memory banks.
I will still go to shows but I won't travel so much and I won't be as interested in going as I would be with an almost 100% gaurantee of being in the first 3 rows.
Yeah, and I'd like Charlize Theron to blow me in the Porshe she just bought for me.
I just thought I'd throw in my two cents while we're all fantasizing about a lottery system. Forget it folks, senority rules and that's the way it should be. Deal with it.

I guess this is just where my mind works differently. Is being at the front THAT important? Does it really make the show worse if you're not in the first 3 rows. It's a PJ concert, is that not enough? I'm not having a go, just can't get my head around it.

Axlsdaddy, you are way too nice. Let me handle this one for you. Think of me as your PR rep. All you newbies can just go ahead and suck axlsdaddy's balls.....oh wait, you're not getting anywhere near his seats so you'll just have to suck his balls after the show.

lol, that's nice. It's not just newbies who are in this discussion; there are plenty of older fanclub members who think a mix-up in the system might be good.
I'm not gonna worry about it though because i'm in Europe so my number means squat!

That's the way it is... not the way it should be. Seniority has obvious flaws and you have to acknowledge that. Just because you're one of the few who benefit from it doesn't mean that it's better for the greater good.
The reason it's in place is probably because it's just much easier for the distributor to distribute tickets that way.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win

Hey axlsdaddy what's your number, just curious. I always seem to get somewhere between row 6-18. I just want to know how many of you assholes need to drop out of the club before I get the front rows....lol.

There's no happy middle ground here. New people want to get rid of seniority and older people for the most part want to keep it.
Either way, a change is going to annoy half the fan base.
I have a middle number so the debate really doesn't affect me one way of the other. I've sat close due to good friends, GA shows at the Borgata, and joining MoveOn.com during the VFC tour got me 2nd row in Toledo and 5th row in Reading. But I'm usually 15-25 rows back and honestly I like knowing that. I think my biggest fear of a lottery would be knowing my luck getting worse seats than I'm used to every show for a tour. I'd rather keep things the status quo where I know what to expect rather than risking getting much closer or much further back than I'm used to.
and i have met sooo many people with that same attitude...."the elitist attitude"

I think there is a common misconception that "low seniority" always equates to "elitist".
There are many people we know who have low numbers and they are not the least bit elitist. I know many front rowers who will almost always bring someone new to the front and change up their seat buddy for each show. They pogo, they cheer, they sing every song and fist pump with the rest of us.
However, it is unfortunate that there are those are do act like elitist snobs and condescend to those with lower 10C numbers. A few rotten apples does not spoil the bunch.

Exactly. I know quite a few jammers like that. Not everyone with low numbers are older or elitist. I know some people who joined the fan club in 94 when they 12 and 13 and they still go nuts every show.

yeah i resent the connotation that those who have low numbers are somehow considered elitist. people shouldn't paint everybody with the same brush, it isn't fair.
there is no unit of measurement for who is a 'real' fan or anything like that.
bottom line for me, i've been in the 10c for years and i like the spot i'm in. if people wanna hate on me for that, they can fuck off

i have met more than one person on this board who will do whatever it takes to get themselves closer to the stage....
whether it be sneaking themselves into rows with their friends....
or pushing and shoving their way to the front.....because I DO REMEMBER LOLLAPALOOZA......
not everyone is an elitist.....
but not everyone is a fucking angel either.......

right, and it seems like people have to be apologetic or something just because everybody else turns into a big ol' pissball cuz of their number.
no matter what they would do with the seniority system, people would bitch. people bitch about everything. if they were going to be hung they'd complain that the rope wasn't fucking new lol

I agree with you 100%. And I completely disagree and despise their methods/tactics. The maneuvering, pushing, shoving, sexual favors, etc. It's all crap. But I would say most people up front are NOT like that.
I was on Stone's side at Lolla for my first show. I eventually made it to around the 5th row due in part to some cool people around me....one in particular. He was taller than me and we were talking about shows. I said it was my first show and he helped get through the crowd so I could be closer.
But there was one lady in particular there who had brought a chair and was sitting there against the barrier most of the day. She was always complaining about having to sit through the other band performances just to see PJ or bragging about seeing PJ many times from so close. She had the same "elitist" attitude of which you were speaking. Everyone around her was in a fervor and amazed and shit and the only thing I could think of was, "Why the fuck dont you let someone have you and you chair's spot?"

There was a girl in the tenclub queue in Copenhagen who would talk to people in the queue and as she was talking would put herself in the line with them, then slowly she would talk to them less and less and start talking to the people in front. She did this for quite a while until she got to us and we didn't talk to her.
We saw her again in Nijmegen trying to do the same thing. But she waited a little longer, just until the line was moved before we got let in. She kept trying to talk her way in front of people. Stoopid girl!
