Eddie is not God

Just to continue the debate a little, why does anyone consider any celebrity God, whether they are athletes, musicians, actors or politician, because the bottom line is they rely on the working people for their lifestyle. Take Bono for instance, many hardcore U2 fans consider him a God like figure, but people need to understand that when he goes around asking G8 countries for money to fund Africa, it really cost the working middle class in the end, considering they pay the most taxes and are the largest tax group. Its nice to help other people out, but we must make sure that the money and food does not go into war machinery.
I think what I'm trying to say is that I'm partly tired of celebrities trying to get me to support their causes by never shutting up.

No, what he said equated to no more than stating that homelessness isn't cool. There was nothing more in that statement no matter how hard you try to squeeze more out. This is NOT any kind of example of how socially or politically aware Ed is. It's so paper thin statement you should be embarrassed for even trying to pass it off as such. I think this is a good exmple of the kind of stuff the OP was referring to.My Pearl Jam Photos

Or he sees the comment as Ed having a conscious about his own wealth and while so many go without which is completely socially aware considering so many could give a shit less. I certainly don't hear about Brittany Spears or Justin Timberlake making such statements. Obviously people can preceive a comment different ways...it's called an opinion. I don't see how that makes anyone look like they think Ed is god but whatever you feel the need to quarrel about dude...If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Oh come on... he acknowledges it and that's great. But it's not like he's slingin' soup for the homeless on Christmas Eve. Soe people just tend to read so much into the things Ed says that they end up seeing eaning where there really is none and somewhat deify him for it.My Pearl Jam Photos

Yeah, I've already read your opinion and am able to grasp the concept that people are entitled to different ones.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Whenever an issue comes up on this board about eating meat, or perceptions of reality. People say "like Eddie" as if Eddie Vedder is a model of everything that's right and just.
I hate to say this but Mr. Vedder is a mere mortal, a simple human being like the rest of us. His experiences have lead him to be what he is. If Mr. Vedder does not eat meat, does not mean that eating meat is bad, just means he thinks it is. I've never read a thesis by Mr. Vedder, but I imagine it would be three or four word phrases followed by "..." which could easily be sung to music.
People on this board idolize him like he's the epitome of good. Ironically, people also mock others who idolize Brittney Spears or the like.
Mr. Vedder, you are a great artist, a very intuitive individual and a symbol of our era. Your portrait will be hung in the halls of my mansion adjacent to Kurt Cobain. Yet, Einstein and Darwin will be found elsewhere.
Good Day.
yes he is, next subject0 -
Eddie is not God
Whew!!! what a relief, I thought Mike quit the band.SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.0 -

Praying to Eddie Vedder does just as much good to affect a particular outcome as praying to Jesus does, so, why not?
I knew I'd get a response like this, and I don't even know why I'm dignifying this with a response.
Let's see... Jesus is a man who many believe is the son of God, performed miracles, raised from the dead... you know the deal. He has been worshiped for almost 2000 years.
Eddie Vedder is a rock star.
No matter what your beliefs are, comparing Eddie Vedder to Jesus is a stupid thing to do.It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win0 -

Yeah but this is testable!
Simply pray to Eddie and records your results over a period of time and do the same with Jesus. See who comes out on top.
Nothing worse than blind faith.0 -

Jesus? I was thinking of Jimmi Hendrix. It doesn't matter if you're male, female, or confused; black, white, brown, red, green, yellow; gay, lesbian; redneck cop, stoned; ugly; military style, doggy style; fat, rich or poor; vegetarian or cannibal; bum, hippie, virgin; famous or drunk-you're either an asshole or you're not!

Of course that's not how it works! That's the great cop-out of religion.
But what if it turned out that praying to Eddie Vedder is MORE effective than praying to Jesus?
What would you do then?0 -

ANGEL!
Like an angel fly over your house
Like an angel pass out wishes
Like an angel I will move the arrow
Like an angel I live alone
I'm not livin' what was promised
I am close but can't enjoy
Oh I'm not dyin'
Oh I'm so tortured 'cause I see all
Tortured and all I cannot do
Tortured all I should have done
Tortured while I occupied a man
I'm not livin' what was promised
I am far from glorified
Oh I'm not dyin'
Oh I'm not alone
Mind is not a celestial state with idle hymns of praise
Time is short I have an appointment at noon at noon in Hell
Across the waste of space and fields of air I glide alone at
night Oh please please think of me 'cause I'm I'm by your side
I'm by your side I'm by your side oh
I'm I'm right in front of you I'm by your sidehttp://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk103/Moonturltemoon/PJ MSG 6-24-08/
