Yeah but you can't tell me that some people aren't politically influenced in one way or another by Eddie.

That's why you see people with the little political quotes at the bottom of their posts by Eddie.

What can you expect though when combining an ignorant rock star and impressionable young kids, a perfect combination for brain washing.

Not all rock stars are ignorant, but young kids can be impressionable. I find EV well imformed, I do not always agree with what he's saying, but for the most part I have never felt that he expects all his fans to agree with him.

no, i'd say they agree w/ him or whoever the quote is from. just b/c one agrees w/ someone else it doesn't mean they think that way just b/c the other person said so. it's really not that hard a concept.

I'm sorry El Kabong, I'm RRRREEAAALLLYYY dumb. And I guess I am having a hard time understanding this concept, with no help from your ridiculous explanation.

So let me get this straight, your telling me that nobody in the entire free world that has ever listened to a celebritys political opinion, has ever been influenced on a personal level?

Right or wrong? Let me give you a hint, it rhymes with Kabong.

When I quote Ed, it's because he has a way with words. If there's anything I already have in abundance, it's opinions, lol ... I sure don't need Ed or anyone else to make them up for me. Lucky for me, Ed shares most of those opinions, and sometimes he gives voice to them more eloquently than I ever could.

It's a simple concept called agreeing.

I guess all young kids should be isolated from everyone else so they don't get the wrong impression, by which I mean, an impression that you might not agree with. Give them some credit. There are always going to be some followers and some strong willed...age doesn't matter. You're only calling them impressionable because they often still possess an open mind.

i'm sure that has happened, key part being the entire free world what i was replying to was the mention of sigs and this board. there's idiots on both sides, i just don't think anyone on this board does this.

can you at least comprehend the difference between this board and the entire world?

oh, and btw...as for your theory here...

  • Allright then, so you're saying that not one single person on this pearl jam message board has ever been influenced politically by Eddie Vedder, especially including the people quoting him?

And if you'll notice the bottom of this message dipshit, you'll see no quote from anyone, especially people blogging here like "Iljew whatever".

Speculations fun huh, hows that workin for ya.

this from a guy who has a mc5 song as their myspace profile song...has an elvis costello video up and has a few other political bands on their list? you have nofx listed, wasn't their last release all about the bush administration? didn't the cd even have stuff on the 2000 election as bonus features?

i'm saying most ppl on the moving train are well informed and don't think or follow something just b/c ed said it. i'm sure there are plenty of politically minded ppl who like pearl jam b/c they agree, doesn't mean pearl jam MADE them political.

as for the bottom of the message, what are you talking about? comprehension problems again, i see...plz do try to keep up...

i quoted ahminus who said ppl say "I think this way because..." so and so does"...in a thread about ppl HERE thinking it b/c eddie said it...what does that have to do w/ sigs? the implication is ppl are agreeing w/ those political stances soley b/c eddie said it. but, of course, you don't want to hear, you only want to tell ppl what they think and why...how's that workin for ya?

Seems like I have to reiterate my point.

A person may have a pre-existing opinion, but assert that since Eddie agrees with them that adds more validity to their view. Which it does not.

When we are discussing a topic like eating meat, I don't care what Mr. Vedder does. I want real reasons.

so because someone happens to agree w/eddie means the point is invalid? nice argument.

by that same token, you may have a pre-existing opinion, but assert that rush limbaugh agrees with you it adds more validity to your view?

    it does not.

when we are discussing a topic like abusing prescription drugs, i don't care what mr. limbaugh does. i want real reasons.

    Please don't ban me, lol.

Whenever an issue comes up on this board about eating meat, or perceptions of reality. People say "like Eddie" as if Eddie Vedder is a model of everything that's right and just.

I hate to say this but Mr. Vedder is a mere mortal, a simple human being like the rest of us. His experiences have lead him to be what he is. If Mr. Vedder does not eat meat, does not mean that eating meat is bad, just means he thinks it is. I've never read a thesis by Mr. Vedder, but I imagine it would be three or four word phrases followed by "..." which could easily be sung to music.

People on this board idolize him like he's the epitome of good. Ironically, people also mock others who idolize Brittney Spears or the like.

Mr. Vedder, you are a great artist, a very intuitive individual and a symbol of our era. Your portrait will be hung in the halls of my mansion adjacent to Kurt Cobain. Yet, Einstein and Darwin will be found elsewhere.

    Good Day.

Please don't jump to conclusions. It doesn't make their point invalid. It has no bearing on their point at all. I think there is an illusion that a celebrity agreeing with a person adds validity. I think it's more of a social status thing though. Probably younger crowds doing it.

Owned is the original term. I believe that it was consistently mistyped pwned because O and P are so close on the keyboard. Probably hunt and peck typers. When you touch-type it's not going to happen very often. Most spelling mistakes with touch-typing are intentional. ir ekse ut kiijs kuje tgus <- Or else it looks like that.

i'm not jumping to conclusions, i'm simply making a point. both the left and right have their "celebrities", neither of which should add validity. its the principle that matters.
