these Obama (and anti obama abook + kabong) threads are getting tiresome. lets talk about the candidate that is actually going to win. what do you think he brings to the office? what do you like/dislike about his policies?

easy on the 100 years of war. he meant that in regards to how we are still in korea, germany, and japan 60+ years later.

even for those who hate him, I think you better start giving him a closer look. at this rate, there is no way obama can beat mccain.

McCain will beat himself, Obama/Hillary won't have to.

too hard for me to predict who will win at this point... but when I told my aunt in Norway that McCain might win, she was like "NOOOOO?!?!? YOU'RE KIDDING!?!?!" she just couldn't believe it. lol

So a person who wants to lead the country wants 100 years of war and can not seem to figure out the differance between a Suni and Shite is what you want for President?

    Why do you hate America?

Yeah, McCain will "misspeak" or stick his foot in his mouth a lot between now and november. But luckily for him, he has a cozy relationship with the press, so often times they let go. His accessibility with the press is one thing that I really like about him though... Bush has had what, like 10 press conferences in his 7 years?

I do think his age is going to be a big factor, and there is some real importance to who is running mate is.

I like McCain, and I think he has been a good senator, but there are times like in 2000 when he sucked up to Bush after being screwed, and even recently when he voted to kill the anti-torture bill, I lose a lot of respect for him when he panders. With most politicians you accept the pandering, but it goes against McCain's principles.

    a) he doesn't want 100 more years of war. b) he made a mistake by confusing two very similar muslim groups. yea I hate america.

It's impossible for Obama to be quoted correctly and not be taken out of context

It's impossible to McCain to not say something detrimental between now and November.

LOL partisan much? If Obama was taken out of context about his bitter quote, why has he spent the last 10 days apologizing for it? wake up dude. all politicians say stupid things.

To me it doesn't matter who wins. I don't support any of the three. None of them will do what is necessary to fix what is broken.

thats a defeatist attitude no? the remaining 3 might not "fix what is broken" but they are all different and bring different ideas to the table. they will have different effects on our lives.

Not a defeatist attitude, just being a realist. None of the candidates will decress the size and scope of our federal government. None of the three candidates will revamp our intrusive foreign policy. None of the three canidadtes will do what is truely necessary to help our free falling dollar. None of the three candidates will start placing the best interest of the people before that of corporations and special interest groups. So while they do differ on many issues and each will impact us differently none of there policies will change what I consider to be the three most important issues facing this country.

So now it's a defeatist attitude to criticise the government?

Let's face it, you're talking about 3 shades of the same corporate cock-sucking shite.

I absolutely agree those are important issues. I think its obvious, however, that of the 3, mccain will decrease the size of government. the dems want to increase it 10 fold.

i'm talking in terms of who would decrease vs increase compared to the remaining 3. obama/hilary both want to increase the size and control of government. that leaves mccain..

I am not partisan at all, but is there a bit of irony in your response, seeing as how this was obviously started by a conservative poster (you) with an agenda in mind?

I am independent. I see Obama as CLEARLY a better candidate than McCain.

I support john mccain. but I am also smart enough to admit that he will say stupid things. same as ALL the candidates do and will. ya see?

McCain will not decrease the size of the federal government. He might nip a tiny bit where it doesn't really matter but I'm talking about a complete and radical reduction. No mainstream candidate from either party would ever do that because it is not beneficial to their party. Let's face it, who ever is elected will do what is necessary to be re-elected in 4 years. Even if it's not in the long term best interest of the country. Their loyality is not to the people but to their party and to the people who donated large sums of money to help them get elected.

ok so the choices are vote for someone who will keep it the similar in size/slightly less or someone who will dramatically increase it. yes its the lesser or 2 evils thing in play here, but it is was it is. why risk having a dem go in office who will greatly INCREASE size and control of government? I know your answer but I'm just sayin....

You're questioning my statement as to my political leanings? Really?

Go ahead and find something somewhere that says I am a democrat:

Town hall registration? Nope. Pretty sure it says independent.

    Voting history? Only occassionally.

My insanely left-leaning democratic party blog that shows my love for all things democrat? Doesn't exist, no nope.

And I just took down the life-sized Bill Clinton diorama in my guest room, so now you have no ammo.

as much as i love to disagree with you... its true.. McCain is the next president barring any kind of illness...

and if someone can't see how he is going to win i think they are lying to themselves... and i have this to offer

    when hillary wins the nomination

Hillary vs. McCain in a debate

    if Obama wins the nomination

    Obama vs. McCain

he is going to eat them alive with his old white man rhetoric and if people dont understand it... GO BACK 8 years ago!
