my2hands wrote:I WILL ASK ONE MORE TIME... WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO STOP THE GENOCICDE IN DARFUR OR ANY OTHER GENOCIDE???
if you feel so strongly about your ideals on this matter then you should be able to give me an answer as to how to stop the mass killings of innocent people, in reality... all i have seen so far is a bunch of quotes and talking in circles about "self"
The way life works is that there are challenges before us, that take processes to resolve. When people are frontrunners and are creating solutions where none exist, they are forging new adaptive and evolutionary ways. They do not have an old tried and true solution to follow. They must create based on the situation. It's an evolution.
I understand that many, many people want to impose a "solution" on these natural processes, rather than ride them out and make solid adaptation. By doing so, they perpetuate the old ways which are not evolutionarily sound. When the "solution" contains maladaptation, such individuals will learn through hard consequences.
My answer is that I understand that realistically speaking, there are situations that are difficult, and where the answers take time and growth in order to come to. I respect life and all of it's processes, even the ones I don't understand. And by embracing life on all levels, I know from past experience, the solutions come when one is open for them.
I'm not interested in rhetoric or pat answers that expect life to act the way it "should". It's not realistic. And such a mindset "justifies" a backlash wherein one believes there is no other choice than to maladapt. Meanwhile, that's merely the rhetoric of maladaptation...."The opposite of a fact is falsehood, but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth." ~ Niels Bohr

do i investigate when my house is burglarized? no, i call the people that signed up to do that and are experts at it...
and for the record, if my military engaged in only causes such as the ones i am talking about here, i may have actually signed up years ago. but as long as they continue to misuse and abuse their power for immoral actions such as Iraq i will pass.
some people around here are appearing so naive it really is funny at this point. all you guys keep doing is post quotes and refuse to provide answers to how to actually stop something like this once diplomatic efforts have failed... but i guess that is how internet peace activists think and operate... post some quotes on a message board and claim to be anti war and this will solve the worlds problems and stop a genocide, afraid to make the tough decisions or even attempt to question their overly rigid moral code
I'm no peace activist, and in fact I was in the military back when I was young and naive.
My answer is I would do nothing to stop it. You do want something done, so go be a hero instead of asking others to do your dirty work.0 -

There's nothing I can do to stop what's going on in Darfur but to speak out against it.
What are you doing about it? If it requires force in your eyes then are you going to be enlisting and joining the cause? What all would you be willing to support in your effort to end this situation in Darfur? Tactics like those in the first gulf war, afghanistan? What is your solution here exactly? If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

And I am reminded ... of the sad story of Kitty Genovese. As you all may remember, long time ago almost 30 years ago. This poor soul cried out for help time and time again, but no person answered their calls. Though many saw, no one so much as called the police. They all just watched as Kitty was being stabbed to death in broad daylight. They watched as her assailant walked away. Now, we must all fear evil men, but there is another kind of evil, which we must fear most, and that is, the indifference of good men.0

That doesn't mean we should stab him to death, as well. There are ways to stop
attackers sometimes without killing them.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

You can't solve a problem by having your supposed 'solution' contain more of the
problem. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

meaning what exactly?
I'm not going to condone more war or any wars. I'm not going to accept murder and indiscriminate bombings of any place or people. How do you stop monstrous acts without becoming a monster as well?If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.
