actualy pretty much the same as you... music of African origin is just that... just as Asian cooking encompassed a variety of styles and various nations wouldnt African Music do the same? South American football is the best, but really its just Argentina and Brasil... but South American style of play is what its called... i'm well aware that Kenya will have a different style of something compared to say Tunisia... but its still Africa and an African Music awards show would encompass all those points.

cause thats not what they mean. they mean music of BLACK origin. and within the context of their forced emigration i can understand it. for so long they were denied their language, their culture, their homeland, their families, their humanity. i cant fault them for celebrating their heritage.

well as someone called the OScars racist before ( i think it was Cate actually)

have a look at the 2005 an 2006 winners from the Black Movie Awards site.

not one single person of North African descent has ever one one of their awards... in fact not one of the above North Africans has ever even been nominated? all the victors were black... its called the Black Movie Awards right enough... would a white South African 3rd generation be allowed to enter?

who means music of Black origin... thats for movies that link... its an awards ceremony for the black film community to celebrate their art.

Will Smith wasnt forced to emigrate? Presley Chweneyagae wasnt forced to emigrate... he was born and raised in South Africa.. Djimon Hounsou wasnt forced to emigrate... he grew up in Benin..

i'll ask again... what if i move to Kenya... can i start my own White Award ceremonies?

where did i say the oscars were racist? what i said was:
the oscars are basically white people awards. it pains them greatly to admit there are black people in the world. and when they finally do, they still muck it up by giving the award to the second best actor of the year.

i think we kinda have to drop the slavery thing dont we? celebrate your culture by all means, but i dont feel anger towards English people for them driving my family out of their homes 200 years ago and forcing them to relocate and starve to death... as Helen said... time to move on.

If Kenya had a society that favored the black majority and gave white people inferior pay and inferior educations than black people, along with a history of oppression of white people, then yes you could. By all means, you should.

You can't just look at the fact that they are a minority. You have to put the minority in its proper social/economic/historical context within the country.

this isnt America... white people and black people get the same wages here.. the same education... our history of oppressing black people ended 200+ years ago. (ok someone will point out it still exists and post BBC news links to racist cops or something, for everyone of those links i'll post one that shows that a white kid got beat up in Broxton for being white, etc)

a white kid born in some areas of the UK will be in a minority... some areas of Bradford, London, Leeds, etc... but all of them will receive the same education, the will receive the same FREE healthcare that the US doesnt have, if they both start a job at McDonalds on the same day they will both earn the same money...

actually.. fuck the history of it, lets embrace now... why do we need a black kid from Manchester to embrace his history and get annoyed that 200 years ago his white school friend's great great great grandfather treated black people like shit? that causes ill feeling and resentment...
