Gun rampage in Nebraska shopping mall.

This is so much more twisted and mindless than the average shooting. When it's one of these "weirdo" kids who have been picked on their whole life shooting up their school you can understand, even if you can't justify or forgive it. This is just sick. He was killing himself anyway so he thought he'd make a name for himself? Tell me Onelongsong, however likely it is that you might have been able to bring the guy down if you'd been there, would it not be easier if the bastard was never tooled up anyway?
No offence americans but your country is fucked up and sinking."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -
Surprise! Not!
Yawn, just a typical news story from the typical place where it all seems to happen. The more you put the story and name in the press the more you will have fuckheads doing this. Oh yeah and the ease you can get ahold of guns. You've changed your place in this world!0 -

As well as that may have a thread of truth in it, considering our nation's capital, Americas problems are hardly a problem of the availability of guns.
You have to look at the bigger picture.

yes mate; it would be much better. i say this all the time: 85% of the population shouldn't own guns. what about the other 15%? do you remember the story a few years back when an american fugitive was pulled over; then shot 3 bobbies; (dead i believe); and the station had to be called for someone; autherized to carry a gun; to come to the sceen? i don't think it was in london. but it was the UK for sure.
you can tell me the UK doesn't have handguns; but this bloke walked into the country and got one. seek and yee shall find. usually; anyone that sells drugs can get you a handgun.0 -

keep killing each other... no-one actually fucking cares... except Bin Laden and his flock... saves them the bother
The thing of it is, even if you could take the gun out of the hands of Joe America, then you have a racket like the Prohibition days. And that's all it would be, a racket. No less violent deaths, no less guns, and probably more crime.

I didn't really post the initial post on this thread so that everyone could bicker back and forth about America and guns and the validity of whatever amendment it is. I would have thought that at the VERY LEAST the people that lost their lives today deserve a little quiet reflection that they could have lost their lives in such a heinous fashion. I don't give a monkeys arse about why. Is it not enough that these people woke up this morning and went to do their Christmas shopping and now they'll not be enjoying Christmas with their families ever again? Do they not deserve for us to pause a moment and reflect at that very sad fact?NOPE!!!
*~You're IT Bert!~*
Hold on to the thread

then why are you so emotional about it. if scots can't handle the responsability of gun ownership; i'm glad your country stripped you of the right and changed you from a citizen to a subject.
the biggest killer of kids directly or indirectly is alcohol. shouldn't they be taking your lager then?0 -

Noone is denying that there are guns everywhere. But you americans seem to have a special relationship to them and particularly the use of them. You cant deny that either.

Well, no more than Canada.
This part of the continent is still pretty wide open and rural.

you're absolutely right. the gun black market began in 1968. as soon as you make something illegal; in this case illegal for some; or make it hard to get; you can bet someone is going to capitalize on it. the problem here is that black markets have a way of making things "better". there's a factory in mexico just south of yuma, az. it's been featured on americas most wanted a few times. they make a full automatic version of the cobray M10 open bolt design handgun. 32 round magazines are available everywhere but 90 round magazines are available; at a price.0 -

i dont like hearing about kids being shot in the face.... bad me for worrying about such frivolities .
your sig... if guns kill people then pencils cause misspelling... so what killed all those people in the mall?oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

spot on mate. i'd never deny it and i'd never give up my guns no matter how many laws they pass. this country exists because of guns. we won freedom from the crown with guns. we traveled westward and blazed a country because of guns. and we fought for our freedom on our own soil; and it was the armed citizen that won those wars. the crown came twice to take our freedom. the spanish came too. as did the mexicans. (remember the alamo!). in every war fought on american soil; it was the armed citizen that won that war.0 -

that was 200+ years ago... get in to the present tense for fucks sake... do you still have 9 black slaves and take potshots at the natives or redskins...
your kind make me sick... and you will keep killing each other... this is due to you (your nation as a whole) thinking its still 1775 and having the brain of a retarded worm...oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

Jeremy1012 wrote:I never said that the UK doesn't have handguns but do you know what? The last school shooting that I can think of was in 1996 at Dunblane. The law was changed, handguns banned and there has been nothing like it since. Sounds like a result doesn't it? Of course criminals can get hold of guns but it is a hell of a lot harder and most people will be less likely to do so because of that difficulty. It's not like in America where a suicidal person will have a gun at hand if they so choose to use it. Did you know that in the UK, farmers have a higher suicide rate than other professions? It is not because, as some people might think, their jobs are stressful, difficult and often leave them in financial difficulties but because they have shotguns in their homes. The easier access you have to a gun, the more likely you are going to use it.
i hear you mate; but you have more than 50 times more bombings. (including the foiled ones where explosives were confiscated.) and a suicidal bloke has easy access to rope too. and if he wants to take a few with him; he's got a car to drive into crowds. or crash into a bus. there's always a way man.
we'll have to agree to disagree. my guns mean saftey and freedom to me. and those are the only 2 things i won't give up.0 -

the brits came over in 1812 but i don't remember when the spanish american war was. or the mexican american war. when did texas become a state? my state is only about 100 years old.
i'm glad we make you sick. it'll keep you the hell away from us.0
