Rant. Don't want to hear it? Don't read it.

Take a quick look at this fucking place. It's fucking nothing. It's nothing more than a war ground. People don't come to the moving train to debate or learn anything. They come to push their agendas. To state what they think and then they quickly demean and insult anything that doesn't fall under what they believe. I guess my best example would be the Iraqi Sniper/Marine Bomb video. If you guys missed it, here's what happened. Someone posted a video of an Iraqi Sniper sniping marines. Should it have already been posted? No, not really. So what happens? Does everyone simply ignore the post and realizes that since it shouldn't had been put up, they should not call attention to it? No. Someone posted a video of marines dropping bombs on people. Now, not to even point out that arguing with each other by posting media of people FUCKING DYING JUST SO YOU CAN HAVE SOME FEELING OF REVENGE is fucking disgusting, but it accomplished absolutely nothing at fucking all. I wouldn't be ranting if it was just this one case. It's fucking all over this place. There are a few of us who can actually discuss topics and understand the other side. But theres more than a fucking few who are just turning this place into a god damn sewage outlet. Too many people get caught into the traps set by assholes (we know who they are. They know who they are.) and end up stooping down to the original asshole's level. You know what would happen to the thread if no one responded? It would be pushed down fairly quickly and eventually off the page. What ever happened to that line "If you hate something, don't you do it too."? If you want to be jerked off by other people who have the exact same viewpoint as you, join that message board. You can spend all day talking about how everyone else is stupid and a waste of DNA. Otherwise, shut the hell up and let the people who have open minds and open eyes try to communicate with each other.

P.S. If this post pisses you off, then don't comment on it and keep it at the top. Common sense people.

I don't think anyone here is as pissed off as you, so relax, soldier.

Again, message board drama. Makes me glad I'm not a moderator. I have this running debate in my head, which threads I hate more..."tie fighter found inside pentagon remains" or these free speech and whiney threads.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

maybe I will...off to start my own thread about how everyone hates me and is against me. MAYYYYYBE I will. Nothing says taking a stand like starting a mealy-mouth thread dripping with drama that even reality tv thinks is pathetic.

You have some valid points, but I think the key is to not take this place so seriously. If someone is bugging you, ignore them. Life is too short and this place is too inconsequential (no offence intended to anyone) to get too riled up over anything said.

There are people on this board that I really do enjoy engaging with although i tend to disagree with them, and others who really just enjoy pissing people off. There are jerks everywhere, especially on the net.

Anyways, if you wanna get pissed off, then get pissed off about the environment, the war, healthcare, but don't waste your emotional health on a message board.
  • you said, "People don't come to the moving train to debate or learn anything."

I learn quite a bit here. I like reading the opinions of others regardless as to whether I agree or not. Like most things in this world...it is what you make it. If you don't enjoy taking part in Moving Train or parts of Moving Train then don't. I find it ironic that you are upset and saying, This is a place for people to just push thier agendas when it seems that abolishing the Moving Train is in fact the agenda you are currently pushing.

You've summed it up perfectly. If people don't like it on AMT, then don't come in! Very simple. Stay on The Porch or the inane AET where a lighter fare is served.

This place can be what you make it. I've learned a lot here. I've changed some of my opinions. I've solidified other opinions. I've let my emotions get the better of me at times, and I've had some good laughs at other times. When things get heated, walk away. I forget this every once in awhile, and someone like Abook or Angelica will check that and put things in perspective even if I don't agree with them in a particular thread. Other times I'll quit posting for a few weeks, or quit reading the forum completely for awhile.

So rather than having your life regulated by some authority (like the mods), why not practice a little self-control and self-reliance. If you can't handle it here today, come back tomorrow. If this place pisses you off every time you come in, don't come in. If you can't stand reading someone's posts, put them on ignore. People have the power.

hmmmmm...i missed the thread you reference and haven't been around here as much as of late...however, i rather enjoy the MT. i DO still learn things here, i especially enjoy certain posters opinions...articles posted that i might've missed out on otherwise...and sure...enjoy hearing opinions from all sides, helps us all to really think critically. sure, there's a lot of bullshit...but that occurs in ALL the forums here. trolls are trolls..and as much as people say not to feed em, evidently some people can't seem to help themselves. thus why they continue to exisit...and post. also, miscommunication seems rampant, so many seem not to read fully, jump to conclusions...and then it's a trainwreck from there. it is what it is...but i'm glad it's here. :)

in regards to 'uneveness'......the mods say it time and again. preport problem posts. so perhaps for one video someone reported...thus removed...but the other no one complained, and thus remained? i've said it often enough, as have others...i highly doubt the mods read each and every post/thread.....so while sure, human nautre//error/possible subjectivity may come into play....more often than not, i think much gets missed unless someone brings it to their attention.

anyhoo.....for a band such as pearl jam, i think it's excellent they have and support their own political forum. more good than bad, so hope it keeps on keeping on.
    Stay with me...

In your case, it is convenient morality.
  • Vedderlution was expressing his frustration and I join. I have been a fan of Pearl Jam since 92. And i've been around this board since at least then. I only stumbled on MT last year and my shock has been unabated. For whatever reason this band has attracted a fringe element of something more than liberals that seem to flock here. The thread, I think, addresses some of the aberrant opinions that come off this board, and some of the hate that is allowed to remain, while others with a different message are randomly targeted by the Mods. Or so it appeared to me. This is one of the first times Ive seen the Mods draw the line with the radical element on this board. And by radical I dont just mean people who don't like Bush. There is something more than that going on here and I am surprised it's tolerated. Iraqi Sniper was the last straw. It makes the band look really really bad when shit like that goes on here and some day it's going to bit them in their arses. I agree with the thesis of the thread. Shut this place down. Let's talk about the music again. If you want to spread Islamo-propaganda, go to a fucking Mosque.

Vedderlution, I agree with you. It actually is pointless because it doesn't really "build" anything and take us nowhere, not for the most part and not how much we would need. A couple of years ago, when I used to post here very often, I tried to say the same thing, trying to find a sense with others in this place. But this isn't obviously a place where you can expect more than what it is, this is a fact. This is just a public place where anyone can have a say, and that's perfectly fine. But I also think that this place could have a great potentiality. A place where so many people come regularly or occasionally, a place where whatever you write can be read by a huge audience with a wide range of opinion and educational level and culture from different parts of the world... I mean, it is a good chance to use it properly, and to use it properly means, for exemple, exchange good information. There are a lot of trolls or just silly comments or maybe some people who come here just to distract from their boring life, I don't know, whatever..... but in all the years that I have been posting in the PJ message pit (since 2000) I have also seen a lot of people who can offer good information, interesting points of views, ideas, people who have listened others and learned infos from others, some of them even never posting but just saying hi with a pm, so even if all these people, who are the real "MT people", were a minority, I think it is still worth.

I miss those days when you posted here more often, Eva! actually i tend to think of 2003-2004 as the "glory days" of MT, and of the message pit in general. maybe its just because it was fresher then. i first came to the pit to chat about the '03 tour, and then i got into some political discussions, mainly about the war, and here i am still talking about tours and wars...

but most threads on MT I no longer bother with. when you're politically active for 7 years, the arguements become old and tiresome... but if you go to other political message boards, it's pretty much the same thing, so I don't fault MT. politics in general seems to be forever stuck in a rut, and seems to have been that way since the beginning of politics. read Plato's The Republic. it was all the same bullshit back then, and it caused Plato to turn against democracy.

the train may be moving, but it's in a dark tunnel, and I don't see any light at the end of it. which is why i prefer to be on a moving spaceship. it may not be realistic, but at least it's fun.

i think maybe I just have a weird addiction to this board that i can never break. there's a few of you here whose point of view i look for. we're all just trying to make sense of the world. if nothing else, political discussion - no matter how volatile or immature - leads towards that understanding.

    i guess.

Wait a minute--Byrnzie posted his video first to make his point about what the troops are subjected to. Last Exodus is the one who in turn posted his "killing video" for vengeful purposes. Your "sex with animals" analogy is therefore completely off base. And definitely, your other point about revenge is being used on the wrong person in this thread. Your "tea and crumpets" comment indicates a certain pettiness, particularly following your other inaccurate points, and altogether your post brings home what Byrnzie is saying: he is being misinterpreted, as well as being blamed for the misinterpretations of others. And that does not fall on him.

Well obviously the mods didnt agree with you did they? So shut it already. You lose. You and I both know his intention was mean spirited. All the guy had to do was say sorry to those he offended and move on. I even agreed with you that I thought he was a bright guy, though I did not like his politics. But only you seem to be buying his crap on this one. But again, your on his myspace page so im not surprised to see you champion his causes.
  • Byrnzie wrote:
The video i posted wasn't the problem. The problem was with idiots misinterpreting my reasons for posting it and with other idiots making blatently false accusations as to my reasons for posting it.
Is that all you bring to this discussion? After all you are responsible for it. You say why you posted it and some of us in THIS country found it horribly offensive. You can acknowledge that at the least instead of just name calling those who took issue with it.
  • Byrnzie wrote:
I stated them clearly. I asked the question: Is this what Bush is sending 20,000 more troops into. I stated that the war is unwinnable, because struggles of popular insurgency cannot be defeated. The video was there to clarify my point. That sniper is just one of many. The troops are fighting a largely hidden enemy, not too dissimilar to that encountered in Vietnam.
I then re-stated my opinion that the troops should be brought home.

I was then accused by a number of people on the board of sympathising with the sniper, and of revelling in the sight of U.S troops being taken out.

Why is it that all the neo-con, pro Israeli types on here are so eager to have the M.T shut down?
You should be banned again a second time for the above post. You bring nothing but negativity and bullshit to this forum.
Islamo-propaganda? What a joke! Your only problem is that you have no argument. When putting words into the mouths of others, twisting others comments, and spewing bile doesn't get you your own way, you begin calling for the M.T to be shut down. You sound like a spoilt school child who can't get his own way.If you don't like the M.T - because there aren't enough pro-Israeli, pro Iraq war bible thumpers on here - then why don't you simply take your own advice and fuck off out of it?
