New Terrorist Threat, political or real?

I haven't gone through all the posts, but this is my way of thinking. I believe that the media is controlled by the gov't (or a couple very large corporations, which is right up there with the gov't, in my eyes). So why are people listening to the news and think that they're telling us the truth? Who knows what really went on w/ that terrorist attempt, who knows if it was real at all? I just happen to question the media, since they can't tell us what's really going on anyway. All of you should too. Don't believe everything you read, watch, and hear.

These people had been tracked for nearly a year.. their phone lines tapped, their incomes traced and tracked... the authorities received a tip-off and apparently the green light to go was given from Pakistan, this made the police react earlier than intended!

this low level threat is costing UK taxpayers £10 million per day as a result... magic

Let me ask you one thing and PLEASE answer it:

The US knew about this 1 week ago. IF this was really an attack that was going to be "more devastating than the 9/11 tragedy" why did Bush go on vacation to Crawford? And then to a political fund raiser in WI (where he gave his speech from yesterday).

The nation's defense was in the balance, an attack "bigger" than 9/11 was about to occur and he goes on vacation? Does that make any sense?

ANSWER... According to media outlets around the world, this was an ON GOING investigation and the bust was NOT supposed to happen yesterday. The only reason british authorities moved in was due to the fact that their cover was about to be blown and a possible LEAK was about to surface in the U.K.

Ah, you are very wrong about this. Yes, "slander" and libel suits can be brought against people for what they say on chat boards (even if they say it anonymously) but you have to make the statements about a REAL person not another anonymous poster.

i'll answer it... both Bush and Blair knew of the immenent threat... both still went on vacation...

Downing Street admitted Tony Blair would not have left the country on Monday for his Caribbean holiday if he had known the police would need to swoop so quickly to disrupt a terrorist plot. He has known about it in general terms for months, and has spoken to President George Bush about it on a number of occasions. The two leaders discussed it in more detail on Sunday, during a conversation on a secure line in which the prime minister outlined what he knew of the British cell being monitored by the security services.
Downing Street officials said he had also mentioned the specific surveillance operation. Mr Blair warned the president that it showed there was a specific threat to US airlines and urged total secrecy, warning premature leaks would destroy the monitoring of the group.

From his holiday home, he spoke again to Mr Bush on Wednesday around 8pm UK time, again mentioning the security threat, but primarily discussing fresh plans to break the deadlock at the UN on the Middle East. Hours later police and security services were in contact with their US partners to say a specific threat was being acted upon




Police had acted early in a tip-off from Pakistani authorities and a key-word for "go now" had been intercepted...

Okay, here's a question regardless of how true all this is or isn't. If this has been known about for awhile now- why the sudden change with airport security yesterday? What the hell was that about and why continue to prevent people from taking everyday items on board? Could there not have been a planned and though-out policy change to combat known plans?
