    This country never operated on a reliance upon the individual. Always, strong men have stepped up and taken the reins. A few powerful white men took control and made this country what it is, whether you like it or not.

    The American individual is pretty stupid and probably doesn't even know who Sarah Palin is. Probably most Americans won't know when/if they vote.

    My mother in Law refuses to vote for Obama because she is convinced he is a muslim. Offensive on two levels considering that what she means by muslim is of course, terrorist.

    my father in law is voting for Obama but has a friend who is not voting for obama because he's black. Offensive on two levels considering it's one thing to keep racism to yourself, but another to admit it to another person....

    i look at many women whom i consider extremely intelligent, well-educated, well-read, strong, independent and willful and yet....conservative and anti-choice...and it usually comes down to one thing; their religious beliefs. my mother is one of those women. while i don't share her faith, i respect her having it...and yet, she does baffle me b/c it IS such an at-odds conundrum.


    anyhoo...palin is a GREAT fit for the uber-conservative crowd, so wise choice for johnny boy if that is whom he wants to attract...get em how you can!


    i always like to believe the american people want MORE than that.....and most especially now. time WILL tell, that's for sure. i am still quite cautiously optimistic, but i AM an optimist at heart...and a dreamer...but i hope it's no dream and i am happy in november. otherwise...i don't even want to fathom it honestly.

    Ok, I was just curious. I think race should be left out of politics is all. I understand some people don't agree and like to play that double standard thing. There are a few on here that use that practice.

    to the post above, most women will go with the presidential candidate who BESt represents women's rights/choices....and that would be obama by a landslide over mccain, no matter who he chose for VP.

    I actually think timing dictated this choice more than the Hillary factor, if you will. That is, after Obama's speech in Denver, which even Karl Rove admitted was good, they had to change their game, and take media attention away from the Dems and reduce the polls bounce. Besides, taking Hillary's votes... the PUMA issue got pretty much resolved this week. They were still few hardcore... lunatics, I would say, because you need to vote on the issues, not based on the gender (or race) of a candidate.

    Also, up until Thursday, Romney and Pawlenty were the picks. I wonder how they feel now! :D

    Do you mean, that because he's been in Congress all those years he can't be for change?!

    Rather than length of service, it should depend instead on his actions and achievements during this time, whether they conform to a change and progressive agenda or not. Besides, an attitude to change (in favour or resistant) is based on the psychological make and personality of people, not age.

    In any case, Biden was chosen as a counter-weight to the accusations of lack of experience and foreign experience, at that.

    I keep forgetting about this peculiar American issue, Creationism and Intelligent Design in schools. I would assume it would be taught in religion class, and that participation to this class would not be mandatory, right?

    Can't believe people would even put evolution and creationism on the same level... science vs one spefic religion belief system

    and it's not some 'liberal agenda'.....i just fully believe religion has no business in the public school classroom. religion at home, science in school.

    I actually think it would be positive to teach ALL religious beliefs (catholic, protestant, muslim, buddhist, hindu, judaism, etc etc) in school in a non-mandatory class. It would help eliminate a lot of the misunderstanding and pre-conceptions.

    Of course, if it's only to teach the American fundamentalist variety of Christianity, then no.
