btw..I thought he was full of shit..just like I think Al Gore is..but I won't celebrate either's death.

If you go anywhere near a thread about Moore, Sheehan, Rosie, Hilary, Pelosi or any of the usual targets by the right on free repub or the hannity or rush boards, you will see more than enough hate to go around. Both sides do it...

And that's why we're seeing every leftist poster here jumping all over this! Oh wait....it's just a small few. I'd imagine the same number would be of righties would be doing the same if Al Franken died. The very fact that you need to make this a competition as to which has the most taste is telling.

This is not the first time this lack of taste has been shown. I never did say that it was every poster on the left who makes comments like these. It's just the loudest of the bunch that seem to pollute this board with the hatred that they like to pretend to preach against.

Those who celebrated the death of any one of those people are a bunch of pricks too. I will not make a classless and tasteless hateful post like robbie's when any of them pass away either.

And once again, I'll say both sides have an equal representation of loud mouth hatefulness here. One is no louder or more annoying than the other.

    ok, I'll check it out...

but, come on now, drew...there is hate everywhere...and on all sides...

I do find it interesting that a man who preached hate in life is suddenly a saint in death, and bad things can't be said about him or his views...I say he made his bed, and now he's laying in it...

please note, I'm not saying statements that are poor taste are ok...but since Jerry made a career out of those sort of statements, I would think he'd understand....

They come off as extremely hypocritical from the "caring" bunch though.

you view the left as if we are perfect...thanks!

do me a favor, turn on the radio, give some of right leaning a listen...tell me what you think...:)

Just as some come across as extremely hypocritical from the 'religious' bunch.

I don't like listening to it from the right either. That's why I made a distinction between this little board and the real world later on.

Absolutely. The religious bunch who show that lack of dignity doesn't really have all of that representation on this board though.

Why make the "right, left" distinction, then? Why not just quote the specific person and say "what a horrible thing to post" or something along those lines? To use a line I hear from the right so very often - "People who look for things to be offended by will find them."

I have learned on this board that we should have forgiven Bin Laden. I have learned that all people from the side that opposes this board's dominant extremism do is preach hate. We have all been compared with Nazis and been called racists by people on this board. We have all been accused of having our heads stuck in the sand as we are just fearful of the world around us. This, all by people who call people who I vote for "hatemongers." This is where the hypocrisy is coming from. It is the holier than thou crowd. This crowd is much like the extreme right in many ways. The difference is that the left that I speak of here have a heavy representation on this board. I feel like I'm reading Ann Coulter's column every time I come here and see certain names around posts. Then I realize that they are coming from the left instead.

Agreed. If some one would have said something bad about him yesterday, no one would have cared. But now that he is dead, its supposed to make a difference about how we felt about him? I didn't like the guy, I didn't like what he stood for, and I'm not sad that hes dead.

I agree with this. People who are "happy he's dead" aren't happy that a person died and a family is grieving. They are happy that person who they disagreed with will no longer be able to make choices they didn't agree with.

we are all hypocrites ... everyone is guilty of it ...

all we can do is be truthful to our beliefs - calling people hypocrites for the sake of diminishing their comments serves no purpose ...

Falwell said the blood of Jesus would forgive bin laden, "then we should execute him."
    Anyway,

I don't really understand why you would come to this board if you believe that the hyper-critical hypocrisy is so prevalent. I think you find what you look for. You're looking for convenient categories, apparently.

Exactly! It's a type of behavior....not representing the entire group here.

Get over yourself. I used to post on a band's board that was predominantly 'right'. There is no comparison to the hate that comes out of those people toward the left. I may lean heavily to the left, but I'm not completely blind to see what others go through, including the republican/conservative folks here. Some may say 'it's all relative', but there is nothing like the venom and hate spewing of a self-righteous 'god fearing' conservative group. You may feel 'victimized' here, but it's just because you're in a minority position in a group of passionate people.

Falwell was a jackass. I will neither celebrate his death nor mourn his passing. But I will take comfort in knowing he is done saying stupid things.

    Oh, I disagree.

I haven't seen a post with the lack of class of robbie's from someone on the right (celebrating the death of an extreme opponent using the vulgarity that was used) that I remember. I do remember a lot of those kinds of posts when Reagan died though. Those were also from the left. I can just imagine what kind of columns will be posted and celebrated on this board soon.

Show me the last time I celebrated the death of a political opponent of mine.

Apparently you missed my post, or conveniently chose to ignore it. You just don't get it. He's not just some 'political opponent' minding his own merry business. He was a DESPICABLE MAN. Read again what I said:

"I don't understand peoples' high horse on these kinds of things. He's dead. He was for the most part a terribly judgemental and self-righteous person of the worst kind. Some of the things he advocated and stood for are despicable. IMO, someone's death is a perfect time to reflect on their life. If you treat other people like shit, expect to get that reflection upon your death. All the more reason to live a decent life, no? Are we supposed to hush up with 'respect' when Hitler died? Hussein? Charles Manson?

To me, he was a hateful man that belittled the defenseless and supported destructive thought and actions. He deserves little respect. I won't go after his family and I wouldn't say anything in earshot of them. As was said, it's highly unlikely any of them are here looking for our opinions. I respect their assumed grief and that of anyone who loses a family member. I do not respect a terrible man, alive or dead."

How quick we all forget Miller's posts last spring when Israel was bombing Lebanon. And those were mostly civilians that never said or did a single thing to piss him off.

I don't feel victimized. I willingly come onto this board. Notice, I have drawn a distinction between this board and the rest of the world. Maybe you didn't notice that. I have done it twice. I am not saying that the right does not do it. If you look at what I have been saying, I am pointing out hypocrisy of some of the left on this board.
