I sent a message to my friends that have dealt with them before. I am not an organizer for this so I don't want to piss anyone off. Once I have a reply I'm not doing anything until I hear from the organizers themselves. If they don't want my help or would rather go with what they know (Loose Moose) then I'll respect their wishes. :)

you won't piss anybody off. i'm on the same boat as many. hard rock cafe would be great. it's close, and we can eat outside the place.

Irish embassy is a bit small. Gracie O'malleys is really decent, and the shopsy's place at yonge & front is farther but big outside for downtown.
hard rock is crap and overrated, service is shitty. elephant and castle has good taps, can't remember what the service was like though. fionn macools on Bay or in or around there near the sheraton is pretty good though and they are always up for reserving tables etc. and that one has particularly good service.

not that that means anything, just thought I'd mention having had a lot of family over from Ireland recently and trying to entertain them in TO.

Irish Embassy is small as is Fionn Macools if I remember correctly. Gracie O'Malleys has SHIT service..took me almost 2 hours to get food (they weren't even busy when I first placed my order!!) and they couldn't even cook a clubhouse properly (I sent mine back THREE times cause they kept burinng it until I gave up and ordered something different cause I was soo hungry and pissed off). I'll NEVER eat there again. Shopsys has a great patio but the inside is kinda smallish.
I work in the area so I'll walk by the Elephant and Castle this week and scope out the size and check for any other potential places.

I'll let you all know about Hard Rock too...once I know anytihng.

Can't wait for the EV shows in Toronto!

    I love the idea of a Pre-Party!

I don't live in Toronto but have dined at the Elephant and Castle and it was great! Great food & drink! The back of the restaurant would be perfect for the Pre-Party.

I seem to remember The Hard Rock Cafe being quite expensive and more of a sit down kind of atmosphere. This'll prove to be quite difficult when trying to make some new PJ friends.

    My 2cents

Can't wait to meet you all! Rock on!

i get to meet Brian next month? sweet! :)

so far it's hard rock cafe, loose moose & the elephant and the castle .. as the 3 main places many here would like to have the preparties at.

by the end of this week, will gather as much information as possible and get the ball rolling on the place to host the parties. :)
  • G'day Folks

Just spoke with a friend of mine (Craig Lauzon from The Air Farce) who frequents downtown establishments quite often and he suggests the The Red Lion

Craig: "The Red Lion. It's on Jarvis St. and it' s not too far from Massey. You could definitely walk it or take a cab. It's a great place lends itself well to the things you are looking for plus more. I've been there tons of times. It's a local for a lot of comedians you may see some of our Nations finest while you imbibe. That is my best recommendation."

  • Although the loose moose is a bit of a walk, we know they're set up for this type of stuff. Hard Rock has a decent patio - but that's about all it has going for it.

Anyway, going to both nights, will be at the preparty 1st night.

if there's a small amount of cash left over and/or you'd perhaps consider another worthy cause to make a generous donation to, i'd suggest the White Ribbon Campaign (PJ contributed funds from the '05 and one of the '06 Toronto shows to said cause):

elephant and castle is a pretty cool and somewhat classy place. i'm in for whatever place you guys choose.

on another note.............do you think people will be sitting or standing for the shows? will people be having a lot to drink beforehand? anyone bringing any signs or anything like that, seeing as it's so small in there?

    just wondering.

I like the idea of the Elephant & Castle. Like I have said in a couple of other posts, when I lived in London and when I went back, the E & C there is really nice, and has lots of good, unique beers on tap, so I would except that the Toronto one would be somewhat similar at worse, which is damn fine

    Hello Demetrios,
That sounds great, thank you for Contacting us and letting us know ahead of time of all the festives on those days.
We have a private party on our upper Mezzanine level on the Tuesday - but the downstairs area will be open. I dont forsee any problems.

Look forward to seeing your group - and have fun at the concerts.
