    I personally love Gone.

I work in a Borders Store and used it during our recovery hour to tell my friends I was leaving the business!!!

But nah ever since I heard the Borgota vrsion I've loved it.

Clearly I'm musically stupid or something because I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE Whale Song as well

  • Seriously, people like you who continuously bag Riot Act must be so uneducated musically. I respect your opinion, but if this album was released at the height of the grunge era it would be applauded as one of the best albums of the decade.

"Uneducated musically?" What a load of bull come.

Well that's just silly. everyone loves Binaural. If anybody says otherwise I'll start posting with exclamation marks again.

You can hit hi-fi and it just plays!

Since this song rags on Gone so much, please listen to my cover of it! :D It's actually a solo synthesizer take of the song in a pschycodelic, ambient perspective. Ummm... yea. Don't know at all how this will be perceived. It's all in one take and I don't start it until 50 seconds in so please be patient while listening. Ummm... yes. I'm going to overlay it with multiple tracks later or even redo the whole thing, but here it is raw. I should stop talking I guess.

How is sharing an opinion and asking what others think bitching????? Is there a prerequisite when you sign up on this board that says you have to love the bands entire catalog? This is the kind of shit that makes me ashamed to be a fan sometimes and also why some people outside of this board think the fan base are insane.

No shit. It's actually entertaining to post you don't like a song, b/c people react like you insulted their mother or something and take it all personally and shit. glasshouse isn't a "real fan" and needs to quit the 10c b/c he doesn't like the song "Gone." Biiiiiiiiiitch, pleaze.

I love KISS; they are my favorite band and many on here hate them. I don't give a damn; I put KISS on and I'm instantly in a great mood and couldn't care less if someone in Amsterdam doesn't like them - doesn't affect my listening enjoyment one bit. So why are people so upset with glasshouse for not liking "Gone"?

From start to finish, Riot Act is intelligent both lyrically and musically. The three songs that you have have mentioned are on a par with just about everything off the first three albums and they are probably considered the weaker songs off the album.

Songs like Can't Keep, Save You, Cropduster, Green Disease, I am Mine, 1/2 full and All or None (one of Pearl Jam's top ten imo) are high quality songs.

You people need evolve your musical tastes a little, on Riot Act Pearl Jam are band pushing the boundaries and being creative...if only they released an album like this earlier on, they would be considered "innovators" today, instead of "Godfathers of Grunge!"

    Same goes for Binaural.

Good Lord. Here's the default "You aren't smart enough to like riot act" reaction.

I listen to quite a bit of prog metal and lemme tell ya, and that stuff is crazy musically, both in its technical nature and its complexity.

Disliking riot act has nothing to do with being a simpleton, a dumbass, or not "evolving." People who point to liking riot act b/c they are so much smarter than everyone else needs to get over themselves and realize that different folks have different opinions and just maybe some people just don't like the songs on some albums.

That I highly doubt. The reason pearl jam became popular was for their hard hitting and emotional sound. Also their intense live shows contributed to their fame. When they stepped away from this formula, 90% of their fan base left, while the remaining 10% became disiples.

I have a very very very hard time seing Riot Act making huge impact during the grunge era. No Code failed and Riot Act would have failed even harder! It lacks everything that made the band in the early days.

but what do we know, its always gonna be a mystery anyway!

Personally, I don't care what fucking songs people like or dislike, but come on..Jose's comment was funny..

    No, not EVERY song :D

Just funny sometimes to see so much vitriol...

Dylan wrote plenty of shit songs, most of them post 1975...

And I apologise, I really wasnt taking a dig at anyone...I just find it odd when songs are described as shit, I dont even know why...in fact Im with this thread, I think Gone is a weak song, but that for me is because of the arrangement, as a solo acoustic song I think it's awesome...

Talking about songs we like is boring. There is nothing to say. Here are the conversations in action. Which is more exciting.

    #1
Person A: "I love Alive! It rocks!"
Person B: "Alive does kick ass. Especially the Philly '05 version."
Person A: "Oh yeah? I haven't heard the Philly version."

    #2
Person A: "Parachutes sucks ass. I always take a piss break during that song."
Person B: "Shut the hell up. Parachutes kicks ass!"
Person C: "They hardly ever play it live but you ALWAYS take a piss break."
Person D: "Parachutes is awesome. What do you want, them to play Alive over and over? Go find another band asshole."

Exactly, that´s the point. The conversation grows up when you talk about interesting things in your life...
  • I could totally jerk it to Gone. But only with my ears plugged.

SOLAT, now there's a song to do it with...
  • I love Gone. Go figure.

  • I actually prefer the Eddie-solo-christmas-single-demo-version of Gone to the Avocado version

    Wembley - June 18th 2007
    Hopefully many more to come...
