I agree, and i´m not sure if we need spend time discussing about the worst song. We have a lot of best songs...sorry.
Talking about songs we like is boring. There is nothing to say. Here are the conversations in action. Which is more exciting.

Person A: "I love Alive! It rocks!"

Person A: "Parachutes sucks ass. I always take a piss break during that song."
Person B: "Shut the hell up. Parachutes kicks ass!"
Person C: "They hardly ever play it live but you ALWAYS take a piss break."
Person "Parachutes is awesome. What do you want, them to play Alive over and over? Go find another band asshole."
Wow, I'm shocked at the contempt for Gone. I was lucky enough to be at the Borgata show where it made its debut, and I fell in love the moment I heard it. It's one of my favorite PJ songs. Granted, Ed's solo version is much better IMO than the full band version, but I don't get everyone saying it's the worst song, blah blah.

Y'all need to get your hearing checked.
I told these fools they were crazy. BTW , Gone is sounding pretty good on the ol' 6 string. I thiunk we need to add it to our reputoir

i accidentally stumbled upon this song shuffling through my i-pod.
it actually infuriates me that such a talented bunch of musicians can come up with such a heap of total shit. fuck it pains my ears it's so terrible.
Get off it. Pearl Jam has written some downright worthless songs, even if they are in the minority. Not everything PJ produces is silver-and-gold with a scent of jasmine and thyme.

It's simply unrealistic.
spot on. alot of fans need to realize it is just OK to admit when they put out a shit song. it doesn't make you less of a fan!

agreed.
stating the obvious: this applies to every single artist/band. it's math you know.

Agreed..
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'
their worst songs are all on riot act, especially you are, get right and ghost. Those songs suck ass. lol
Seriously, people like you who continuously bag Riot Act must be so uneducated musically. I respect your opinion, but if this album was released at the height of the grunge era it would be applauded as one of the best albums of the decade.
From start to finish, Riot Act is intelligent both lyrically and musically. The three songs that you have have mentioned are on a par with just about everything off the first three albums and they are probably considered the weaker songs off the album.
Songs like Can't Keep, Save You, Cropduster, Green Disease, I am Mine, 1/2 full and All or None (one of Pearl Jam's top ten imo) are high quality songs.
You people need evolve your musical tastes a little, on Riot Act Pearl Jam are band pushing the boundaries and being creative...if only they released an album like this earlier on, they would be considered "innovators" today, instead of "Godfathers of Grunge!"

Same goes for Binaural.
It's all different tastes. Don't just dismiss people as having uneducated 'musical tastes' because they don't like an album that you like. Personally I find Riot Act boring. Yes, it's got good songs but there's a lot of mediocre stuff on there too, IMO.
I find that No Code is a much more interesting/experimental album than Riot Act. And that was released during the height of Pearl Jams popularity yet I don't see people calling that the best album of the decade.

i prefer no code to riot act, but i think riot act and (especially) binaural are without a doubt pj's most experimental offerings. and that is the reason why those two albums polarise opoinions to a greater extend than any other of pj's albums amongst the hard core fans.
btw this thread is not intended as a riot act bashing. it is a gone bashing.

hey I realise that people have different tastes, but when somebody says all the songs on Riot Act are "terrible and suck ass", well in my opinion they are musically uneducated.
I find that No Code is a much more interesting/experimental album than Riot Act. And that was released during the height of Pearl Jams popularity yet I don't see people calling that the best album of the decade.
Well in my opinion, No Code and Vitalogy are the best albums of the decade. There I said it.
i accidentally stumbled upon this song shuffling through my i-pod.
it actually infuriates me that such a talented bunch of musicians can come up with such a heap of total shit. fuck it pains my ears it's so terrible.
thank you very much
You have got to be joking!!! Far from their worst song. Far from the worst song on that album. Far from the worst song made with the word Gone in the title.
If the song is THAT irritating to you... you should probably listen to another band.
I like gone. I remember watching it on AOL sessions and rushing off straight away to learn to play it on guitar, it's a cool song to play.
And to Lostdogsinthegarden and anyone else who feels that way. C'mon now, you really can be suggesting that anyone who doesn't like a pearl jam song, then that autmoatically makes them not worthy and they should listen to another band. That's just silly.
I'm a fan, not a disciple, it's a very personal choice of what we do and don't like and we are never all gonna agree on best songs/albums/concerts etc, and that's ok. Just don't mouth off on a fellow fan because you have a different song liking to him/her. That's lame.
Seriously, people like you who continuously bag Riot Act must be so uneducated musically. I respect your opinion, but if this album was released at the height of the grunge era it would be applauded as one of the best albums of the decade.
That I highly doubt. The reason pearl jam became popular was for their hard hitting and emotional sound. Also their intense live shows contributed to their fame. When they stepped away from this formula, 90% of their fan base left, while the remaining 10% became disiples.
I have a very very very hard time seing Riot Act making huge impact during the grunge era. No Code failed and Riot Act would have failed even harder! It lacks everything that made the band in the early days.
but what do we know, its always gonna be a mystery anyway!
