    Is that a Seal cover??

I played "long gone" a couple more times and its not that bad for what it is. I had add this quote, because its exactly right. This is adult contemporary music. Its not the cool, hip-hop vibe I was expecting from Timbaland. May be the album will offer something much, much better. Adult contemporary is just not my thing - at all.

I know this thread has gone on for 9 pages already, but let me add my vote that these songs are horrendous. Yikes. *sigh*

    Eeeerk ! I think he's gone forever ...
I still wonder why I bought "carry on".
The unplugged show in Sweden was his last masterpiece. Now he's joined the Dark Side of The Force :D

Lol...different from what? Justin Timberlake? Nelly Furtado? I don't think so. This is some of the shittiest music I've ever heard. Phil Collins would be proud. Congratulations on become a cheesey top 40 douchebag in your older age Chris...nice photos on the myspace page, by the way...did he take lessons from Celine Dion?

Any of you trying to defend this are in serious denial.
i won t defend that ..it s diffrent what he did well he tries something new for him and it doesn t sound that bad anyways ...

I don't see how this appeals to anyone. His fans are obviously going to hate it, and he's 45(?), he's way too old to appeal to teenagers with this pop. So WTF? The worst part is that Long Gone could actually be a good song if you remove the shitty beats and crappy pop production. For all it's flaws Carry On was a decent record, this is just career suicide.

people need to STOP putting this shit in the context of todays "popular" music... this is chris FUCKING cornell were talking about... when you compare this to HIS music, these new songs are the WORST thing i have ever heard!

  • no artist has fallen so far from grace. billy corgan is light years above him right now, which is absolutely shocking to me. billy corgan can't even see cornell beneath him anymore he is so deep in the abyss right now.

haha yea but that song rocks your balls off. Plus SG wrote that song to mock a lot of the fruity 80s pop and love dovey songs that beat around the topic of love. With Big Dumb Sex, they just wanted to have fun and say "fuck you."

When I get off work I'll post a live version of a song called Cleaning My Gun on the board; I'm sure some of you are familiar with it if you follow Cornell closely. It was a song he originally wrote with SG, but it was never recorded. He's only done it live a hand full of times.....anyway, what I'm getting at is this particular song (cleaning my gun) is fucking awesome. The recording I have is from the 07 tour and many fans were hoping it was an indication of where his next solo album was heading. How very WRONG we were, but hopefully it will serve as a reminder that Cornell still has potential....but given that the song was written in the SG days may be reason why it sounds great. I simply can't comprehend what he's doing now, it's all like a frigin nightmare or something that keeps getting worse.

I said ooooooohhh that bitch ain't a part of me! Hey at least this crap is good for some laughs....

    Based on what?

Branching out to do new things = fine, noticed how I didn't say anything about selling out.

But this is a miss, it's pure crap, I don't like it.

PJ is a band that has survived because of their artistic integrity... i think weve been spoiled and expect the same integrity from the other musicians we like... only to be disappointed

not really brutal though in this case... just true

    It really is fuckin' awful.....

Is he short of money or something?

Whats funny is, is that alot of people knock bands like Coldplay for 'selling out', but give me them over this generic souless wank anyday....
