FUCK! What the fuck is that shit? That is a sick joke, right? I swear if Eddie Vedder EVER does anything like this, I am disowning him. It is bad enough that the 80's are back in fashion, now this?
Ed would never do something like this because he knows exactly who he is as an artist. Cornell has struggled as a solo artist to define himself (although I think Euphoria Morning was an incredible album), and this just seems like a cynical attempt to get himself back in the mainstream conscious. I can totally understand that he wants to try out new things, and I genuinely think Cornell and Timbaland could have come up with something ground-breaking had they blended both of their individual styles; but musically these new songs just sound like any of the other artists Timbaland has produced but with Chris singing over the top.
^ Yeah, I often read the Cornell forums but I can't bear to sign up there because of the obsessive defence of the man. Half of the members seem to have only heard You Know My Name and a couple of Audioslave songs. Where did you find out that Chris reads the Pearl Jam forum over his own?
Mike.... Audiophiles. It was the interview that he did there.
I have lots of words for this song and the other two but my mother said that if I can't say anything nice....
ok... i got a plane ticket to paris and an enchanted shell necklace from ursala the sea witch... im taking that fuckers voice and using it to ROCK! be sure to buy my debut album!
seriously... if the guitar on that was down tuned any more itd be a korn song
now theres no guitar at all?!? how does he plan on touring with this shit? use linkin parks DJ? (sadly, thats probably gonna be the case)
An important question -though I ever want top hear that song again- But how is he going to tour with this sort of album? Will we be hearing a remixed version of "fell on Black Days" or "Burden in my Hand" as well
This guy wrote Say Hello 2 Heaven, one of the single greatest, most heartbreaking, emotional songs ever written.
What the hell happened.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Yeah... that the man responsible for some of the most affecting, intricate and at times absolutely mind-blowing rock music of the 90s to stoop to lowest common denominator r'n'b donkey-shite is damn near unthinkable.
Can you imagine? "Is the mic on? [drum loop] Heard it from another roooom..."
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

if it takes another great voice and friend of his to die for him to realize what an ass hes being then its not worth it... have fun with your new fans dude...
IM DYING TO KNOW WHAT ED THINKS OF THIS! Kat, ask him and release an official press release
this has seriously been on my mind since i heard those songs... its seriously the worst betrayal since judas

I'm more interested in what Matt thinks... He's made three Pearl Jam albums, a handful of WWC albums, worked with QOTSA and now brought out a jazz album since Soundgarden split. Cornell's made a great solo album, a not-so-great solo album, some fairly predictable (though still pretty good) music with Audioslave, and now he's whored himself out for some chart exposure.
Even Ben Shepherd, the accepted asshole of the group, managed to make some great music with Mark Lanegan.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
Was he the asshole in SG? The real asshole is surfacing and he's wearing leather jacket, tight jeans and singing sugar-candy-pop shit.
Very true. We should start a pool on how many months, and failed singles, it'll take for Cornell to come out and pull a Billy Corgan, and say this was a huge mistake and he wants his band back.

i never thought id be more disgusted by chris than billy... atleast zwan was still good... and even his solo album was tolerable... oh chris... THE HORROR! THE HORROR!
i have never felt more compelled to find an artist's contact information... he seriously needs to see what his FANS think of this move
He wanted to blow up the outside world but looks like the world inside his head is imploding.
Yep, Chris Cornell is the fucking outside world. I wore my Chris Cornell tour 2007 hat for the last time yesterday. How can you go from writing slaves and bulldozers and jesus christ pose to this????????????
it just doesn't make sense, I had a great birthday today, but this was a shitty part of my day.
I am right by your side

Don't worry Mike, if you go on his forum it's actually quite hilarious. I found myself crying from laughing so hard reading some of the posts. EVERYONE ON THERE HATES THE 3 SONGS. They are comparing Cornell's voice in on track to a screaming ape. someone else thinks the songs blow chunks, it's great.
Even the people who loved the idea of Cornell working with timbaland loath it so far.

Saw Cornell three times last year and loved the shows, getting to see all Chris eras with a great backing band, and been waiting for his announcement of more European dates.
After reading this thread I don't even want to click on the links to hear this stuff :(

Oh thanks, I'd forgotten all about Audiophiles, that was a cool club. So sad it ended the way it did.
Thanks dana_b, I knew that statement was made when he was with AS; I'm surprised I forgot cause I was also a member of Audiophiles. I used to think this board was too harsh on Cornell, but I will admit that there were FAR too many Cornell threads created at one time. It got quite ridiculous. All I can say now is that he deserves all the fan slack he's getting over what we've heard so far. The music is simply awful and mind boggling at the same time. Mind boggling in a very, very bad way.
This is truly a case of wasted talent. No one can deny that Chris' voice has improved drastically over the last year. Hell, he even sounds great on the putrid "long gone." I saw him twice in 07 and he literally blew me away; hitting notes I never thought I'd hear him hit again, singing with such passion. People actually think these new songs will come off better live??? C'mon now be real. Watch out, watch out, watch out!!

The lemonade he was selling definitely got sour during last 10 years or so.
I guess all the secret ingredients were courtesy of Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron.

you owe it to yourself to make an informed decision before giving this guy any more money... and that includes live dates... we have to come together as a fan base and make an financial impact on chris so he can see what a douche hes being
