This is pretty stupid. The Cornell message boards seem to be censoring anything negative said about his latest work.

Had to stop here last and then I'm off. Of course, if I told you anything I'd have to kill you and I don't want that. Haha. Take care...

This is my favourite thread ever. The guy doesn't like one album, and says he won't be promoting it: "OMG YOU HATEZ CHRIS!!! OFF THE TEAM!!! OFF THE FORUM!!!"

They sure do take their idolising seriously on that street team, don't they? :p

I'm so pissed at this. They are doing this to clean the board, get rid of all "haters". But I'm gonna stay there just out of spite!

I'm seriously considering signing up out of spite. :D

Well, if you do, the 1st thing you should do there is start a thread with your comic strips and CC's career graph :D

hes not with the rage boyz anymore... he doesnt have to pretend to care about politics or anything outside his lil comfort bubble... it always struck me as insincere with audioslave and its no different here
um, he may not have had the sincerity of a college boy wearing a Che hat...but back in SG he also had "message" songs...and he didn't hit you over the head with the politics...the lyrics/story came first - yet you knew the message he was sending.

    Gun for example.
hands all over is another example.

please note, I am not trying to defend his sincerity now. I just think it is a shame that the "rage boyz" get some sort of gold star for caring...as if Cornell didn't write engaging lyrics in his own right...

    that is all.

I think the main difference between those songs and his more recent attempts is depth. I mean, Hands All Over has some amazing metaphors - "turning eagles into vultures", "in a striking motion, trees fall down like dying soldiers"...

Ground Zero has "When it all falls down/ And the law don't count/ And it don't seem fair/ And the people don't care"... Which I thought was a Nickelback chorus not too long ago, or at least something similar. :p

    AYE good lord...*shudders*

okay I concede that his lyrics have dropped into a bizarre mushpit...but I was actually taking umbrage (FUCK YEAH I GOT TO USE THAT TERM!!!) at the statement that he didn't "have to care" because he isn't with the rage members. like they were what made him write "political" songs...as you were able to show with your "Hands all over" quote - he was using metaphors to send a message that was inspiring.

I am being nostalgic in order to build up my spleen to make the CC new album purchase.

sorry it is what i have to do in order to make this purchase.

it's that, and my mantra "he sings sunshower"

sigh, he isn't inspiring...but I am a faithful motherfucker...I shall leave you all to your Cornell threads...don't try to save me...I am already penciling in the purchase. :p

I even thought Wide Awake was a great "statement" song. Not exactly at the Hands All Over or Jesus Christ Pose heights, but some powerful imagery, and some nice shreddy-voiced screaming. It worked.

    Ground Zero just doesn't. :p

I'm not giving up on you though - the sheer fact that you love Sunshower so much shows me that you have taste... don't soil those ears with this. For your own sake. And if you have to own it, download it. Don't support this kind of stupid, flappy nonsense with your hard-earned money. :D

The down-ward slant of the musical quality over the years is so apparent. Carry On already required one to turn a blind eye to the obvious but this latest debacle is too much!!

Why can't he hear it himself?

I'm convinced he's gone deaf since he's been comparing this shit to Pink Floyd (how dare him??)

Maybe - just maybe - this shit sounds better when you're stoned. Which could be seen as some kind of half-hearted link... sorta... :o

but but but ...I would feel like a fairweather fan! argh!!! :p

lemme tells you a story - I grew up liking the doobie brothers...and well...sometimes it was sucky...but I liked them so much that even now - a few years ago they played at this really little fair-like thing...and I went...there were like 40 people...but I mean, the doobies gave my ears listening pleasure...

sigh...download...okay. that way I can pretend some songs dont exist - the way I do with the song "finally forever" :p

That's truly the only excuse. However, it doesn't explain why his vocals still sound good. :p *sigh*

I don't have the luxury of pretending Finally Forever doesn't exist - my gf likes it, so now it's one of "our" songs. Why she can't see the romantic, luvvy-duvvy side of Drawing Flies or Tighter & Tighter is beyond me. :p

Honestly, a sick, disturbed morbid curiosity probably will drive me to download this trainwreck. Just so no one can say I'm trashing it without hearing the whole album. My vitriol: it will be justified. :D
