  • That's impossible to answer. Best completely self-taught modern rock drummer, easy: Jose Pasillas.

...I admit to be "classic rock" ignorant, so all the drumming virtuosos (Bonham, Moon, Peart etc etc) mentioned in this thread are meaningless to me

  • I just watched the Rush 30th Aniversary DVD... and Neil Peart is unreal. It doesn't even look like he is trying, and he is pulling off amazing drum lines, his technique is nearly perfect, he is so efficient. Also, whoever said Terry Bozzio, he's gotta be up there too.
I was taught a month ago to bide my time and take it slow, but then I learned just yesterday to rush and never waste a day. Now I'm convinced the whole day long that all I've learned is always wrong. Things are true that I forget, but no one taught that to me yet

We need Pearl Jam in Atlanta!!! 2006-2007

The dirty south needs a fix.
  • Bill Bruford (King Crimson in the 70s, check out the album Red, he was a big influence on my next choice)
    Danny Carey
    Jimmy Chamberlain
    Flo Mournier

These are my favourites, not necessarily because of their technical prowess but because not many drummers can play in such a way that you can actually tell that it's them, but these guys definitely do. therefore, they rule.
  • Josh Homme?
