Morning everybody. Are we going to keep this going for the rest of the year?
I'm telling you, we are missing out. Those shows over the weekend were phenominal. I can't believe they would put out such a record and promote the hell out of it and publicly say how much they want it to succeed commercially and then go out and skip half the country.

ok, here's my 2 pennies (however, i think i saw this idea somewhere else?):
pearl jam plays a handful of shows in the south at smaller more intimate venues, like VFC tour. they could kick it off by playing the tennessee theatre in knoxville!!!...yah right.
Does anyone seriously think that they are not coming to the south at all for this tour? I can't imagine that they'd do that. The last leg of the US tour probably just hasn't been announced yet. I'm in Atlanta and they've played some of their very best shows EVER here - as most everyone already knows. I can't freakin' wait until they come. I believe that they will until someone proves me wrong.
Especially since that is just a copy of an article that was in another newspaper awhile back. Detroit I think? Can't remember.
You know, I have a friend that I have totally converted into a PJ fan by giving him copies of boots, etc. He used to like them along time ago but lost track, like a lot of people. But he was digging the boots I gave him and went right out and bought Avocado on the release date and loves it. Is dying to see them as he never has but couldn't travel.
PJ, you are missing out on potential new fans by skipping out on us like this.

Then that's even odder (is that a word)? They'll be here. I know it. They are going to announce it any day because I am totally broke!!!!! Murphy's law.

In my previous post, I am pretty confident that they are coming to the south and I stand by that. But still - why would they wait this long to announce the final dates? Any ideas?

They want to get closer to the Presidential elections so they can maybe make a difference. (my opinion).

I can't believe this question has not surfaced in a single interview. I know a lot of them were done before the album was even released, but you would think somewhere in a more recent interview, somebody would have posed the question about skipping such a large portion of the country. I mean you would think some journalist would have explored the whole blue state/red state angle. I guess they are all so elated with the wonder that is the Avocado that they are actually practicing journalistic integrity. And nothing official from 10C either. Even if they have 0 intentions of playing down here, Id rather hear it officially announced. To announce nothing is not really fair because it leaves open that glimmer of hope. Wishing for something you can't have is bad enough, but being teased into thinking you can have it is even worse.
Oh well, hope everyone enjoys the shows in their respective areas (especially the Europeans). After all, we aren't jealous. We don't want to take anything away from anyone else. We just want to share in the PJ love too. Hopefully 2007 will bring us better luck.
“It’s the idea that people living close to nature tend to be noble. It’s seeing all those sunsets that does it. You can’t watch a sunset and then go off and set fire to your neighbor’s tepee. Living close to nature is wonderful for your mental health.”
I'd guess it will be early '07 before we get to see them in this part of the country.
But that will be GREAT when it happens!

Well, I think we can probably forget about getting shows down here. Especially with Ed making remarks during Storytellers about not understanding the people in the Red States who voted for Bush (even though I and probably most southerners on this board did not). And then when asked about fans with differing political views than his, his response was "Fuck 'Em".
YES, I know he was probably joking and went on to talk about debate and how it is good, but behind every joke there is a sliver of truth.
I don't know. I just don't feel good about getting shows down here anymore.

It is really disheartening to hear him use the term "red states". His use will give validation to the red/blue state bias that has been so evident on this board. I would think that he, of all people, would refrain from using labels. I am hoping those around him are not in the same mind set.

Well, I hear what you're saying, but they are doing shows in states in the North and West that went for Bush. Let's face it, with the electoral college being what it is, not that many states went for Kerry. The popular vote was closer, but the electoral college was not. Based on the fact that they're touring in states that went "red", I don't think that's really the basis for where they've toured so far. I think it has more to do with the weather and hurricane season. Just my opinion. But I sure wish that Ten Club would tell us SOMETHING one way or another. All the hypothesizing is driving me nuts. Just OUT with it already 10C!
