i love this album. Muzzle and Galapagos are the best tracks but there's loads of others. I need to dig it out again.
The closest thing Billy's done to this album since is the Zwan stuff imo. Zwan and this album are my two favourite Corgan works. I think he is very under-rated for the quality of his work for some reason, kind of like pearl jam.

A matriarch would never send her own children off to wars that kill other people’s children." I am listening to "To Forgive" right now...this was a favorite of mine when I first purchased the record, and I had kinda forgotten it. Now I am remembering, big time. Amazing track.
Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?

Mainly because Corgan has always taken a different and artistic aproach to each album he's put out, but I agree, the man's a fucking genius and everything he does is awesome!!!
Wow. A lot of appreciation for this monster of a record here.
I do love the Pumpkins. They made one of my favorite albums. Siamese Dream.
But on Mellon Collie, I love 1979, To Forgive, Jelly Belly, Muzzle, Thirty-Three, X.Y.U., and Porcelina.
Well there's a lot to appreciate on this monster of a record!! They wrote 56 songs and only half of them made the album...I've heard that they wrote roughly 50 for Zeitgeist so it does sound promising...Though I will have to comment and say Billy worked day and night like a machine during these sessions as did the whole band. 12 hours a day for 5 days a week...now that's hardcore, but they certainly attained a great outcome!
And I love the Doom explosions on the 1st track on disc 2.

props to this thread for giving me the craving to listen to the Mellon Collie B-Sides boxset (specifically the thread that mentioned Set The Ray To Jerry)
I have been spinning the 1979 single for a couple of days, and completely re-fell in love with Jerry as well as Ugly, The Boy and Cherry
It's been at least over a year and a half since I have listened to any of these b-sides. Much appreciated

Holy shit! What luck, I live ten minutes from Baltimore
Sadly it's a festival, but hey, close enough!
I love festivals! I was planning on visiting a friend for lolla and pearl jam but I would rather not have to take a couple days vacation and see the pumpkins and the police close to home.
