My thoughts exactly!!! She was so pumped and positive and got everyone in the mood for Chris, now this...I had total respect for her until she wrote to me and told me to "Be Brave" and explain myself to the team for my action of posting in these threads. I would love to post my response back to the team, but I'm not into the drama..

I would love to read what she wrote and your response to her!

I'm just so, so sad. There is so much wrong with all of this I don't even know where to start. What get's me most is the treatment of the people who actually give a crap about this guys music. Do you think on any level he actually realises the extent to which he is alienating himself from everyone? I'd be devastated.......
at the same time though i can see why he might WANT to alienate himself from his past... i mean his biggest fans are from his SG days which are also personally his darkest days... maybe he felt his fans didnt support him enough with his alcohol dependency back in the day or there are some that wish he still had those demon to give an edge to his music thats no longer there... or maybe hes just a big dick :p

I finally watched it. All I can say is what...the...fuck??? Chris Cornell and the Pussycat Dolls shouldn't even be in the same fucking state at the same time.

There's been so many threads and posts about CC's downfall, that there isn't much left to say that hasn't been said. All I can say is, as a longtime fan, I have never been so disappointed by a "musical evolution" of a favorite band/artist in my life. Along with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden's music helped define various aspects of my teenage years. In the early to mid 90s I bled Soundgarden. Collected everything I could get my hands on. Saw 9 shows, and keep in mind I was a teenager and they weren't exactly playing in my backyard. I traveled a lot. Still my favorite band to this day. I even played the hell out of all the Audioslave records. To see their amazing frontman turn to this, its a feeling I can't explain. Its getting to the point where its not gonna matter if he makes an amazing "return to form" in the future. Between this bullshit and what's gone on with his boards and having all the "yes" people around him...fuck it
Nice post. I used to post on the CC forums. I got so sick of all the apologists so I stopped going there.

I can completely understand your sadness over what CC has become.

And that video... wow. For the last several months, just when I thought CC was at rock bottom, he gets even lower. That video was pathetic. It's not just dissapointing... it actually angers me. What a joke Timbaland is... is that supposed to be talent??

Honest to God, I was going to buy "Scream" even though I hated all the songs. After watching that video, there's no way I can buy it. I can NOT endorse that bull crap. Good luck, Chris. Thank you for everything through Carry On.

Timbaland was like the puppet master during that video. Truly a disgusting thing to behold.

I was going to buy it too. Even after hearing 5 full songs. Merely because I own every song that has been officially or unofficially released, that Cornell has put vocals on. Like I said before I'm a collector. But as strange as it might feel to pass on this one despite the pile of shit it is, I would feel even more disappointed knowing I was responsible for the purchase of even one copy of this horrific excuse for music.

I hate this type of music, always have. No matter who performs it. If this were truly a collaboration, it probably could've been something pretty special. That is why I tried to stay open minded even though I was skeptical as hell. But its not. Its just Timbaland pulling the strings, and the only thing Chris Cornell-ish about the whole thing is his vocals. It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't write a thing on it. That was my worst fear about it, and seems "whatsoever I feared has come to light."

I liked the quote you mentioned. Cornell once said "music that is driven by money deserves to fail." Seems everything he ever stood for, his musical integrity, is "long gone"
I am lost, I'm no guide. But I'm by your side...

    8/25/92, 10/4/96, 10/5/96, 9/1/98, 9/4/98, 8/4/00, 8/6/00, 4/15/03, 4/16/03, 10/6/04, 6/16/08

I'm not sure I follow your logic, but then again, I'm not sure I could possibly follow the logic of someone supporting CC at this point. Anyway, how does having 500 posts on the PJ message board prevent one from being a cc street teamer?

I made it pretty clear I don't like his new music so I hardly see how that makes me a street teamer. It also demonstrates that you don't read posts or can't comprehend them because I certainly haven't changed my position abruptly. I make no apologies for supporting Cornell-the guy made music that changed my life-and one solo record isn't going to change that.

Well, he doesn't have to have an "alcohol dependency" if he wants an edge to his music again. All he has to do is to look around and see the state this country is in. That will give him something to be angry about. He should just ask Whitepants, he'll tell him all about it.
oh we all saw how well chris did pretending to care about politics with audioslave...

But he should wear that as a badge of honor, because it means people related to where he was, and what he had to say meant something to them.
It could have been helpful to some.

Does anyone relate to him now? What does his music say?

Yeah, people that say he needs various muses back in order to make the music they want to hear are assholes, but he shouldn't be throwing the baby out with the bathwater either, and the people were Soundgarden fans aren't the reason his life went in the direction it did. He was the reason his life went in the direction it did.

So, if his reaction to that is killing that particular "Chris" (and's he's written quite a few times of this) by cutting everyone off... that's pretty sad.

It's typical of the intervention, though. They feel you're too weak to be able to deal with your past. I think it's wrong.

Relax, Francis. Find the post where I specifically called YOU a street teamer and then we'll talk about reading comprehension. Something about your defensive nature though... Methinks thou doth protest too much.

Good for you. Be sure to give us a proper review of the full "album" after it drops. Somebody has to listen to it and I'm despite being somewhat masochistic, I'm not putting myself through that kind of torture.

It's "Lighten up Francis"....one of my favorite movie lines of all time! JK I used that line on the CC board once and "someone" jumped all over me and said I was demeaning women by using the "lighten up" line, blah, blah, blah....jeez, I wish I could go back and pull up that thread for a good laugh! Anyhow, I then informed "someone" that I was of the female persuasion.....and "someone" STILL found a way to get all over my shit! And BTW, "real" street teamers are not allowed to have any opinions or a sense of humor.....don't you know that by now? Not that I'm saying searchlightsoul is a street teamer.......

That is so heinous! And I just saw the Timbaland/Pussycat Dolls thing for the first time too. Awful. I'm going to have to listen to Superunknown just to remind myself that he really was GREAT.

I have to disagree with you regarding his 'pipes not being able to handle the Soundgarden stuff'-I've saw him on tour last year several times and his vocals were amazing. He blew everyone away!!!
That's what sucks about the new stuff--His vocals on these new tracks are wasted and buried in over production.

Did anyone else notice that the giant Timbaland head above Chris made him look like a stringed puppet? The music isn't what his camp has been cracking it as. It probably had potential in the beginning but it's over saturated and it just sounds like a greedy trainwreck. Not only has he abandoned his key fan base but now he's trying to prevent them from having a place to artistically evaluate what he expects them to consume. That just makes him look ashamed of what he's doing.

If he can't even go out and dance around and loosen up to his own music then how in the hell does he expect any of us to?

You know it's bad for him when he looks that awkward in his own material and then gets shown up by a bunch of pussycats. He just looked so out of place that I almost felt sorry for him.

the stuff going on with the street team, how certain people feel they can treat other people because they are 'bigger fans' of cornell is absolutely disgusting. and that cc doesnt give a shit about something he could easily stop is the mark of a coward. piss poor show all round.

Out of all the hundreds of reasons to be sad, angry, shocked, ashamed, etc., about this whole situation, the one thing I keep coming back to is… last year, at the Salt-Lake City show, my wife jumped on stage and rushed CC. She was promptly escorted off stage by security but in that brief moment, when she was inches away, she could have stabbed him.

Think of all the needless suffering she could have prevented. If I only knew then what I know now…
