That's a nice list! We don't need any of those yet, although if you want to re-up 11/09/96 Chicago, I'd be happy as a pig in slop. I'm assuming you grabbed the master transfer from DIME a few years ago...I did too and then my computer crashed and I lost it.
Also, I took the liberty of editing the shows you mislabeled. Sorry...I'm really militant about it as a result of all the mislabeled Soundgarden bootlegs out there. I think that with the renewed interest in collecting Soundgarden out there we have a really good chance to help snuff out all the mislabels and bad information out there once and for all. At least, I hope. That's why I put up the Mislabeled shows FAQ on the Live Guide.
Thanks for fixing my show dates. I definitely want to avoid mislabels and bad info!! I tried checking the dates in the Live Guide but I haven't been able to access the guide for a few days (it won't load).
That's exciting about the material you're planning to share!
I can put up the 1996-11-09 show in a few days. It is the transfer from the DAT master. Here is the info file:
Soundgarden 11/9/1996 Aragon Ballroom Chicago, IL
DAT MASTER (Sony D7) > HHB CDR-800 > Apple G3 with xACT Flac conversion (Level 8)
Mics: Sonic Studio DSM-P with 65hz roll-off. Taped FOB on the right side.
Show Notes: This show is a must have. Cornell was drunk and he liked talking in between songs. Very nice sound and a great performance. This was one of my favorite Soundgarden shows (I seen them 21 times). Snag This one!!!

Thanks! I don't know the lineage of my copy, just DATx>???>CDRx. I'm really hoping the next night's show surfaces sometime, since it's supposedly a much better show than the first night. Check it out: http://web.stargate.net/soundgarden/images/chicago/
wow this thread just seems to be gettin better and better, u guys are doin such a fantastic job and its very generous of u's to provide us a chance to listen and collect them, especially Mareede dont know how u track down all these shows, cant wait for that 1995 show love the 95 shows!
that review was really cool and great pictures ive been to that website a few times but hadnt seen that review before so thanks for that.

1989-02-12 - San Francisco, CA
1994-04-08 - Elysee Montmartre - Paris, France (not 4/07/94)
1994-08-05 - Guertin Arena - Hull, Quebec, Canada
It turns out I had just fat-fingered the info on the 1989-02-12 and 1994-08-05 shows. But my copy of 1994-04-08 was incorrectly labeled as 1994-04-07, as you indicated. I listened to it and could hear Chris say "Paris" a couple of times. Thanks for the corrections!
I have a SG bootleg related question. Is the b-side/rarity "hiv baby" a live track? It sure seems like it with the spanish intro with the crowd chanting Soundgarden. The crowd noise goes away when the music starts, this could be due to the mix of the soundboard. If it is live does anyone know the date of this peformance? Would be somewhere around 92, seeing as i have a 05/02/1992 chicago where it pops up.
.....especially Mareede dont know how u track down all these shows, cant wait for that 1995 show love the 95 shows!

The Unofficial Soundgarden Page is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It hasn't seen a real update since about 1999 and it still looks fantastic and contains more content than any other page could even hope to have. My guide wouldn't be nearly as complete, not even close, were it not for the archived section of concert reviews, articles and back SOMMS digest posts there.
As for how I've tracked down all those shows, I can give you several reasons:
1) I started trading before the old generation of Soundgarden traders dropped out of the scene, around 1998-99. We aren't finding too many new recordings anymore really, we're just resurrecting recordings that used to be really common amongst Soundgarden traders. I have been able to track down some new shows, but for the most part it's been an effort to get some of those shows that used to be common back into circulation. Believe it or not, we still have a ways to go. For example: these shows used to be really common:
6/13/89 Pisa, Italy
11/05/89 Detroit, MI
3/17/92 Stockholm, Sweden
4/12/94 Nottingham, UK
6/06/94 Salt Lake City, UT
7/25/94 New Orleans, LA
8/25/95 Hasselt, Belgium
6/20/96 Seattle, WA
9/26/96 Milan, Italy
1/25/97 Melbourne, Australia
And that's just off the top of my head...I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch. Those shows used to be fairly common and today they're pretty much unsurfaced. I have hot leads on the Nottingham and New Orleans shows from 1994, but the others remain difficult to find, even on old trade lists of people who haven't been active since 1999-2000. A lot has disappeared over the past 10 years. I've been trying really hard to track down those shows, and when I succeed in getting ahold of a still-active older trader, I put the show out there. 9/21/96 was a good example of this. I traded for that show in like 2001 and only finally got it out this year.
2) During my initial trade period I tracked down a trader who was liquidating his analog collection. I bought like 20 cassettes off him for like $40. I don't condone selling or buying bootlegs at all, but this was the old days (1999) and sometimes you just have to make an exception to get a bootleg out there. Here's what that purchase netted us:
12/05/89 Phoenix, AZ
1/29/92 Los Angeles, CA
8/16/93 Clarkston, MI
6/16/94 New York, NY
7/17/94 Los Angeles, CA
8/05/94 Hull, QC, Canada
8/13/94 Seattle, WA
8/04/96 Irvine, CA
I think there were a few others too. Look for the 1989 Phoenix show and the 1994 LA show when I get back from France. I also bought a bunch of DAT>ANA1 Nirvana audios from 1993 too that are now obsolete.
3) In the course of researching information for the Soundgarden Live Guide over the last nine years, I've stumbled upon a lot of bootlegs: sometimes it's random chance, sometimes it's a trader who has 1-2 shows on his/her list and doesn't really advertise, or sometimes it's just somebody making an off-hand comment about a show. Whatever the reason is, I have no choice but to pursue it until they stop responding to emails. This is how I tracked down 9/16/96, 12/05/96 et al. I have a method: using Google and Yahoo, I enter the date of a show into the search engine, enter Soundgarden and then enter audio/video and the city name. Most times it comes up with nothing, but sometimes you get lucky. I recently stumbled upon a new 1994 Australia show this way, so now let's just hope the guy decides he wants to trade with me.
4) Because of my ties in the Nirvana community (I helped found http://www.livenirvana.com and I've been around for a LONG time in that community) I happen to know a lot of traders who specialize in recordings of Seattle bands. Sometimes these traders also collect Soundgarden, sometimes they happen to know somebody who collects Soundgarden and most of the time they know other traders with huge DAT lists who have been trading for a long time. Recordings then just fall into my lap this way.
5) Recordings also fall into my lap because I run the Live Guide. No arrogance intended...that's just how it goes. Because of the guide I'm the one somebody contacts when they want to get a recording out there, or want information on a recording. I'm always happy to have something new to listen to and something new to share, so I get really excited when somebody tells me they have a show they want to get out.
And to think-there are at least 400 shows that haven't surfaced in any way. We have work to do!

It's studio. It was recorded for the split single with Sub Pop in 1990, though I believe they may have rerecorded it around the BMF era. The intro is live though, but I can't pin down the show. That song had been kicking around for awhile though, as they played it on their February-March 1989 tour.
And to think-there are at least 400 shows that haven't surfaced in any way. We have work to do!
wow, see thats somethin i could never do, collect shows and more shows though in sayin that thats what i have been doin but each time i get one i think its gona be the last one i get and then another pops up, thats been happenin lately with the Soundgarden shows, i didnt think id have more than 2 from 1995 now it looks like ill have 4 thanks to u Mareede, love those shows!
It would be too overwhelming for me to have 400 hundred shows however if the shows keep popin up i will download them cos i cant resist listenin to them, especially if they are good quality, and have those rarer songs i wont delete those ones.
Well, aside from the obsessive compulsive aspect of it, what motivates me is the fact we don't have many GREAT Soundgarden bootlegs. We have many good ones, but we don't have too many that you can put on any time and dig without worrying about sound quality, Chris' voice, etc. I'm motivated because I want to unearth more shows that are GREAT bootlegs. Like 2/08/94, 2/12/89, 9/09/95 etc. We're going to have another one soon-12/18/96, the last North American show. The quality is a bit rough, but it's a phenomenal show from what I've heard. My friend that has it is finally going to torrent it, I think. For the record, here's the setlist of that show:
Spoonman
Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Let Me Drown
Pretty Noose
Burden In My Hand
My Wave
Ty Cobb
Black Hole Sun
Outshined
Rusty Cage
Fell On Black Days
Head Down
Never The Machine Forever
Blow Up The Outside World
Search And Destroy
Nothing To Say
Slaves And Bulldozers
Dusty
Jesus Christ Pose
Chris sounds amazing too, from what I've heard. I can't wait.
It's a cool special, interviews and videos snippets and some live segments. But please keep in mind that it was produced for German-TV. So it's, unfortunately, in German, more annoying for all non German speakers it features voice over instead of subtitles. This can be annoying for some people.
But nonetheless it's quite interesting.
So, any updates on this? Did you convert it yet? Maybe matt can help you if you're having any problems uploading to the tracker...

i have this version of Gun apparantly from 1990 but dont know what show its from, its great sound quality and kick ass performance but cuts out at the end, i uploaded it so i can find out what show its from
Someone has posted vids of SG performances on youtube! I have never seen these only heard the sbd audio of these. Awesome stuff, just search soundgarden, then date added(today) there are three parts up now.

This person has the whole video!! With Pearl Jam and Mad Season too!!!
“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

And I listed in the Live Guide that it would likely never surface. Jesus H. Christ! That's a real professional video, mixed and edited. Amazing! The audio mix is different from the one we have, too.
This is amazing. I wonder if he knows the Hype! crew?
Including PJ, Mudhoney and Mad Season too? "Spin The Black Circle" is DESTROYING me right now...one of the few favorite PJ songs of mine I haven't seen live.

Yeah, I downloaded the whole thing. Someone should send a PM to the guy and ask for the DVD...lol

First off, great thread! Always nice to see some interest in Soundgarden.
I've already downloaded a bunch of shows from here (belated thank you's to all involed!), but was wondering if any kind soul could please upload the recently shared dime torrents to megaupload or something similar for those of us who don't torrent. I would love to hear those shows. Being a vocalist myself with Cornell as a main influence, it's always exiting to hear as much new material as possible.
Btw. I've been enjoying the new liveguide too, keep up the good work mareede!
So, any updates on this? Did you convert it yet? Maybe matt can help you if you're having any problems uploading to the tracker...
I'm gettin' it transfered to a standalone DVD-Recorder this or next week. Then I'll try to torrent it, if I fail I'll have a DVD flying over to Matt, If he wants to do it. So just a few more weeks. Sorry, thanks for your patience.
Opiumrebel, no rush. Since it might take a little longer, could you tell us more? Like maybe...are there any full length live performances? Any cool video of the studio or something?
What the hell? Why are posts being deleted? Is this a cover up? Because the entire Self-Pollution Radio show was uploaded to youtube, all video. Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, and of course, SOUNDGARDEN. This is insane. There are TONS of live videos of all these bands, most of which have been on the site for at least a year, and none of those were pulled.
In fact, I was downloading the .flv of the first part of the Soundgarden show, and my damn internet went out. I had like %50 complete. I only just got my connection back a few hours ago. If I hadn't have lost my connection I'd be watching that damn show right now.
Marie, could you upload this to DIME or something? Maybe PM us with more info?
I understand them taking down the PJ videos, but the others? Since when does 10C owns copyright for SG, Mad Season and Mudhoney now?
Let's stop talking about this here, I don't wanna see this thread deleted

O.K. here's a full description of the "Jam-Episode" featuring Soundgarden, aired on German channel "VIVA" ca. November 96.
Ill start with the CONS first:
1. No full video or live performance, only snippets, sorry :-(
2. Picture is somewhat speckled caused by a defect capacitor in my VCR ( this is negligible for the speckling is only minor)
3. Except for one brief subtitled part the entire documentary is dubbed in German (this might be annoying for foreign speakers)
Now the pros:
1. Exclusive interviews shot for the documentary with Chris and Kim in their respective hotel rooms (very fancy ones).
2. Archive interviews with Mat, Kim, Chris, Ben throughout the entire Soundgarden area (including a short video of the photo shot for "The Louder Than Love Album with Chris wearing Gaffer-Tape over his nipples :lol)
3. Exclusive footage (though incomplete) of the band performing SWMGEC and Spoonman live in Cologne in 96 (Semi-pro shot with multiple cameras but camera audio no soundbard) (This is the bands own footage and I believe the complete concert was recorded including a soundboard recording. Their old official, now defunct, website featured additional clips of Black Hole Sun, TyCobb and Burden In My Hand)
4. Rare archive footage*, for example Matt and someone from Sub-Pop throwing a pickle with mustard out of a high-rise, saying "This gonna be a tree someday" :lol
5. Very well produced by the respected Austrian production team DoRo. Very well researched the've also mentioned Matt and Ben's side project Hater (no video footage just audio)
*please note the archive footage varies in quality.
I'm curious about something. Do you think everyone would dig an official Pearl Jam torrent site that was maybe subscription based? Like pay a small amount each month for unlimited access to the torrents PJ had to offer (new and old boots, whatever)? I was thinking it would a cool addition to just having downloads again. Why not do both, individual downloads for those who aren't into torrents and an official torrent site for those who prefer it and want a lot of files easily. And it still supports the band directly. Could solve some of their bandwidth issues too.

Some legal guesses: They might have claimed copyright because the video shows mostly Matt and Matt is now under contract by the Pearl Jam management.
