It looks like 6/03/94 San Jose. It's either that or the Berkeley show the next night.

Either way, don't bother on grabbing an audio from video from YouTube unless you really need to. There are good-quality versions of "Limo Wreck" out there, specifically 3/23/94 and 6/14/94. There are also complete DAT audios of both California shows I referenced, though unfortunately I haven't been able to track down either one.

I've been wanting to put together a Superunknown live compilation for awhile, since it's the only album where we have surfaced performances for each song. It would probably look like this:

Let Me Drown - 8/22/93 Holmdel, NJ
My Wave - 8/20/93 Jones Beach [SBD]
Fell On Black Days - Video version [SBD]
Mailman - 9/20/96 MTV Studios [SBD]
Superunknown - 9/09/95 Reggio Emilia, IT
Head Down - 9/09/95 Reggio Emilia, IT
Black Hole Sun - 9/20/96 MTV Studios [SBD]
Spoonman - 9/20/96 MTV Studios [SBD]
Limo Wreck - 6/14/94 Rochester, NY
The Day I Tried To Live - 3/23/94 Oslo, NO
Kickstand - 8/11/94 Calgary, AB [SBD]
Fresh Tendrils - 6/17/94 New York, NY
4th Of July - 9/09/95 Reggio Emilia, IT
Half - 6/17/94 New York, NY
Like Suicide - 6/17/94 New York, NY

There are better performances of some of these songs out there, but the quality on all of these is really nice and you really couldn't go wrong with any of these versions.

Sigh...another project I won't get to do until I'm back in the USA.

lol i do really need to. i have both those versions ur talkin bout, the one from 6/14/94 is not really one i can put on cd cos the sounds too hollow. and the one from 3/23/94, chris's vocals are too low, the one i found on Youtube seems to be perfect, and it is from San Jose yeah.

guess im askin for somethin too specific, i know theres a way to rip audio from dvd but unfortunetely i dont have a dvd player in my computer.

Well, I have that DVD with me so let me try and rip it. You really want to avoid YouTube audio unless it's absolutely necessary because of YouTube's compression.

Also: I'm still working on db.etree.org's show/setlist database. I'm done with 1986-90 and 1994-97-all known audios have been entered for those eras and most of the problem listings have been changed.

I know there's probably a link on here somewhere, but there are just too many pages to scroll through!!

Are there any good audio bootlegs of any Cornell shows from last year?
I've got the pro shot DVD of the Buenos Aires festival, and that's fucking awesome.
But could really do with something on CD. That same show would do if it's around.

    Cheers guys!

    Hi guys.

I've downloaded 3 or 4 of these Soundgarden boots and have been quite impressed, as I didn't even know these kinds of recording existed!

But is there a general consensus, 'must have' show? In terms of quality of recording, set list, performance (particularly Chris' vocals) etc etc...
Doesn't have to be one show, could be two or three great ones that I should go after.

    Any help, much appreciated.

It depends on the era you want. There are at least three distinct eras in the band's history, so it really depends on what songs you want to hear and what kind of performance you want. I'll go through each era for you here with my picks:

1984-90 (ie Screaming Life>Louder Than Love):
9/05/88 Seattle, WA, USA [A sound, great performance
10/24/88 San Francisco, CA USA [A sound, great performance]
2/12/89 San Francisco, CA, USA [A soundboard, amazing performance]
5/22/89 Hamburg, DE [A- sound, cool setlist]
9/23/89 Los Angeles, CA, USA [A+ soundboard, cool show]
1/21/90 Boston, MA, USA [good soundboard, great show]
4/16/90 Dusseldorf, DE [A+ soundboard, good show-but too short]
9/02/90 Seattle, WA, USA [end of an era-lots of old songs; good sound]

    1991-92 (Badmotorfinger):
10/06/91 Hollywood, CA, USA [A+ soundboard, awesome performance]
1/29/92 Los Angeles, CA [B sound, but amazing performance and great setlist]
3/12/92 London, UK [A- audience recording, but great, long show]
5/02/92 Chicago, IL, USA [A audience recording, great long show]
7/22/92 Bremerton, WA, USA [A+ soundboard, amazing DVD, great performance]
9/11/92 Irvine, CA, USA [A- sound, amazing performance]

    1993-1997 (Superunknown>DOTU):
2/08/94 Tokyo, JP [A/A-audience recording, awesome setlist, excellent show]
4/08/94 Paris, FR [A DAT recording, good show but kind of eerie-see date]
6/14/94 Rochester, NY, USA [good recording, awesome show]
6/17/94 New York, NY, USA [excellent audience recording, awesome show]
8/06/94 Barrie, ON, CAN [good audience recording, cool show]
8/13/94 Seattle, WA, USA [poor sound, incomplete recording, but AMAZING show]
8/27/95 Reading, UK [excellent sound, unique performance, only version of "Christi"]
9/09/95 Reggio Emilia, IT [good sound, amazing performance]
7/05/96 Barrie, ON, CAN [great sound, good performance; "Flower"!]
9/16/96 Glasgow, Scotland [good sound, best setlist ever]
10/11/96 Rotterdam, NL [good sound, great show, only surfaced version of "Switch Opens"]
11/07/96 Denver, CO, USA [great sound]
11/09/96 Chicago, IL, USA [great sound, great show, Chris drunk as hell]
11/29/96 Mesa, AZ, USA [allegedly the best sounding audience recording ever, but I haven't heard it]
12/18/96 Seattle, WA, USA [poor sound but amazing performance, just like 8/13/94; "Head Down" and "Nothing To Say"]
2/02/97 Perth, OZ [poor show, okay sound but a must-have]

If you want strong vocals, I recommend anything from 1988-92, plus 6/17/94, 9/09/95 and 12/18/96. If you want great setlists (and that again depends on your taste in Soundgarden], go for 5/22/89, 9/02/90, 1/29/92, 5/02/92, 2/08/94, 8/13/94, 9/09/95, 9/16/96 and 12/18/96. If you have to have a soundboard recording, go for 2/12/89, 9/23/89, 4/16/90, 10/06/91 and 7/22/92. If you just want the best shows, go for the tour-ending shows (9/05/88, 9/02/90, 9/11/92, 8/13/94, 9/09/95 and 12/18/96], add in 2/12/89, 5/02/92, 2/08/94 and 9/16/96, and be done with it, regardless of sound.

    Hopefully this helps.

Start with 2/08/94 Tokyo. Good sound, awesome vocals, amazing setlist. You get songs from Screaming Life through Superunknown.

    Cheers. Very much appreciated.

I've only got PC at work, so not able to download. Just E-mailed a mate of mine who's a whizz a list of half a dozen of those shows I fancy.
He's already got me the Tokyo one you recommended as well as a couple of other.
Can't wait to get my hands on them now!

    Thanks again.

    Hi everybody,
I've already written to Matt that I have a TV Special about Soundgarden taped 96. This features small cuts of a live show recorded, semi-professionally, by the band in Cologne. I'm planning to transfer this to DVD and, if I figure out how, seed it over at Dime. For now a few picutres (shoddy quality, taken from TV set with Digi-Cam)

It's a cool special, interviews and videos snippets and some live segments. But please keep in mind that it was produced for German-TV. So it's, unfortunately, in German, more annoying for all non German speakers it features voice over instead of subtitles. This can be annoying for some people.
    But nonetheless it's quite interesting.
  • in response to ur rant, im with u, being from Australia its hard enough gettin ur fav band out here. as for bootlegs, i think the recordin of shows by people attendin various concerts is quite poor here in terms of quality and the actual recordin of shows. people in countries excludin australia seem to be better at it.

its almost impossible for me to obtain shows that some of my fav bands did here, especially from the early 90s from bands like AIC, GNR and if there are any they are crap quality especially the GNR ones cos ive heard em. Havin said that people do seem to be able to record Pearl Jam shows quite well and aided by radio broadcasts for the first few times they toured, there is plenty of bootlegs from them.

some of these bands like Soundgarden and AIC only toured here once or twice and will never again, at least in their orginal form, maybe there are some good bootlegs out there but obviously they are being with held by the people that recorded them as well as tv and radio stations in Aus. so its a real shame that younger people who werent around when they toured may never hear the concerts they played in their own country.

What's interesting though is that it depends on the band. Every show Pearl Jam has ever played in Australia has surfaced in some form, though the two that interest me the most, the first show in Australia (3/06/95) and the last with Jack (3/20/98), both in Perth, are hard to track down. Even most of Nirvana's Australian shows have surfaced, save 1/26/92, 1/27/92 and 2/02/92. They were playing small clubs, too. Yet, Smashing Pumpkins' entire 1994 and 1996 Australian tours are unsurfaced save for about 2 shows and Soundgarden's shows are next to impossible to track down. It stands to reason that most or all of Soundgarden's shows were recorded...they just haven't surfaced. That's what I can't figure out.

    Hi all,

I was excited to find this thread. Been a Soundgarden fan since 1988 and I am still amazed by their music. I've collected some Soundgarden shows over the years but they are mostly post-1991. I'm still looking for early material.

Mareede - serious kudos to you for all the Soundgarden work you have done! The new online guide is great. And thanks for all the recent Dime uploads, much appreciated.

I would love to find a lossless copy of 1989-02-12 San Francisco - anyone seeding that somewhere? Also any 1988 material...I don't have anything from 1988 and that's a shame! :)

    Thanks and cheers!

    Hi MC,

Thanks. I should have mentioned I've been trying to get it on dime for a few weeks but I'm only at 4%. No consistent seeders. Anyone here willing to seed that show on dime for a while? I know at least one other person is trying to get it too.

    Thanks!

I have seen snippets of pro-shot Soundgarden (Spoonman clip) from the Big Day Out which I am assuming was from Syndey on the 97' tour. I watched it on a channel V promotion for a documentary on the festival but the actual doco did not have much footage. They obviosly are not able to relase it for licensing reasons. Pro-shot Soundgarden......damn.

Thanks! Here's what I have. Looking at the breadth of material in this thread, I'm guessing you have all this already (some are from your recent seeds too). If not, let me know. If anyone can seed any other 1988-1990 shows on Dime or Zomb I would love to get 'em! I am currently downloading the 1988-02-11 video on Zomb.

    1989-02-12 - San Francisco, CA
    1994-04-08 - Elysee Montmartre - Paris, France (not 4/07/94)
1994-08-05 - Guertin Arena - Hull, Quebec, Canada

That's a nice list! We don't need any of those yet, although if you want to re-up 11/09/96 Chicago, I'd be happy as a pig in slop. I'm assuming you grabbed the master transfer from DIME a few years ago...I did too and then my computer crashed and I lost it.

Also, I took the liberty of editing the shows you mislabeled. Sorry...I'm really militant about it as a result of all the mislabeled Soundgarden bootlegs out there. I think that with the renewed interest in collecting Soundgarden out there we have a really good chance to help snuff out all the mislabels and bad information out there once and for all. At least, I hope. That's why I put up the Mislabeled shows FAQ on the Live Guide.

Finally, tonight I'll throw up 2/02/97 on DIME. It's the last of the Soundgarden shows I brought with me to France, so you'll have to wait another 3 months or so for more. I still have at least three dozen shows to share before you're all caught up with me, and by then I could have more as I'm always working on tracking down new shows to share. Among the shows I'll be putting up after my return to the USA, keep an eye out for the following:

10/12/91 Day On The Green Festival, Oakland, CA - another 1991 show! They open with "Into The Void".
5/10/92 Trocodero Theater, Philadelphia, PA - another excellent show from the 1992 club tour. Crummy sound, but an awesome show
8/18/93 CNE Stadium, Toronto, ON - "Beyond The Wheel" and "Jesus Christ Pose" from the Black Hole Sun single are from this show. This is complete and also features an early "Mailman", but the sound is B+ at best. I would have upped this one earlier but I wasn't able to track down the master like I was hoping to...
6/16/94 Armory, New York, NY - a rather infamous show, in that it was about 120 degrees in the arena and Soundgarden came on late. Really cool show.
9/06/95 Offenbach, Germany - another 1995 show! It's really similar to 9/01/95 but the sound is better.
7/07/96 Hippodrome, Quebec City, QC - really similar to 7/05/96, but the show is better. Last recorded performance of "Flower".
11/15/96 Roseland Ballroom, New York, NY - complete DAT audio with good sound; also features an interview with Cornell from a NYC Radio Station
12/05/96 Henry J. Kaiser Auditorium, Oakland, CA - complete DAT audio; if I can't track down an upgrade I'm putting this one out there. The tape suffers from degradation so I'd much rather get a clean copy, but I'm putting this out there if a clean copy can't be found. This should put to rest the debate about the 12/04/96 video.

Also, I'm working with a fellow Soundgarden trader to up his collection of ANA cassettes and videos. He'll be doing the upping, though. Once he starts he won't stop, and I can tell you he's going to put about a dozen new 1996 shows into circulation.

Things are going well, and I'm glad.
