tybird wrote:Cool grits!!! The new Rolling Stone came in the mail today....the one with "Captain Jack Sparrow" on the cover.......short review of the new album........3 1/2 stars.....not too shabby.
Most of the reviews I've read have been fairly consistant. I think Maxim was the only one that wasn't great...they had a smart-ass type of review...which I guess is to be expected.
Other than that, all the reviews seem to be positive.

Got this link off the yahoo group, interview with Isbell:

Haven't read it yet, saving it for my lunchtime reading at work."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

NakedClown - Checked the DBT site, looks like there is an L.A. appearence on the 27th of August. Looks like a short set though, part of a festival. The DBT play between Dave Alvin and Hank III, and the Cramps, which should be a good mix of bands.

Heres hoping we see some more Southern California dates pop up around this time."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

likepilateihaveadog...isn't this the show you're going to?
PBM
I was just gonna post this myself.
God damn....this is going to be incredible.
I heard the 9:30 is "real intimate" but I'm going down early, sittin on the sidewalk and getting front row.
They never play the north all that much (wouldn't really even call DC north myself...) so taking any chances I can get.
Hopefully NPR gets some good sound on this - preserve my good DBT memories.
I think I'm seeing the Crowes tour in Saratoga a few weeks later too.
Will do the usual, way too long review sometime Sunday, I'd imagine.Teamwork. Rawk. Pwnage. Infinite Possibilities. YIELD. Hells yeah.0 -
I'm looking forward to this show. Listening to the Nashville boot right now...Cooley forgets the words to Cottonseed.

Day before my birthday... you better believe I'll go to that.
In fact - I'm telling the wife now that that is what I want for my birthday...
Actually... looks like that might be free, yes?0 -

Close enough, $12 if you buy the tickets in advance.

If they don't add a SD date, I'll try to be up there too."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

I concur.
We all got together for the 4th of July and decided to get the guitars out. We played the hell out of some Trucker tunes.
Where the Devil Won't Stay and Decoration Day were highlights.
We're no where near as good as them, but we have fun playing those tunes.

I checked their tour history...they've played Buffalo about ten times, but not one other stop anywhere else upstate.
Well, until Saratoga in a few weeks.

I'm going to the Washington DC 9:30 Club show on Saturday.
My wife and I are looking to score some tix to the Black Crowes, DBT, and Robert Randolf concert at the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT next Tuesday.
DBT rock!! We were able to see them for free last year at the Baltimore Art Fest.
I always knew of them but never heard them until I took a chance and bought their dvd. Ever since then I have been hooked.“Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.”0
